Just moved to Yakima and stopped by the store for some items for home repair. The bbq section is huge with everything you can think of including beef tallow!! While perusing the section, I was approached by an employee named Zach who asked if he could help me find anything. I asked about Meat Church rub and he took me to where they not only had Meat Church but a huge variety of rubs and sauces. I then asked Zach a question thinking I already knew the answer to. Back story: I'm in the market for a RecTec pellet grill and many Ace stores in the midwest and east coast carry them but I have never seen them in the PNW. I knew that this store didn't have any RecTec's on the floor and assumed they didn't have any but I had to ask, and asked Zach about RecTec's. His eyes lit up and he told me they just had their first order of RecTec's arrive and would be putting them on the floor very soon. Long story short, Zach was incredibly friendly, professional and knowledgeable about all things bbq and low and slow. After asking him for his card, I learned he was the bbq section specialist and I can see why. I truly enjoyed my time speaking to Zach and walked away gaining some new found knowledge from him. This store has everything you can think of and frankly, I have never seen another Ace quite this big. They had everything you could think to include a section for home brewing beer! We are renting temporarily to learn the area before buying a home but trust me when I say that this Ace will be my home store and I will drive 30+ minutes if I have to, to shop at this store. Marchant Ladders are the BEST!…read more I drove out from Seattle to beautiful Grandview and bought my 16 foot orchard ladder with adjustable feet. It's the best ladder to use around the exterior of my house. I use it when gutter cleaning, window cleaning, painting and more. I lean it against my house so I removed the long 3rd leg which makes it easier to store. For tree maintenance I lean it up against the trunk. I bought right from the factory were each ladder is built by hand. I received a personal tour. I am thrilled with the quality and sturdiness of this extremely lightweight tall ladder. The owner and the employees are a delight. A quality memorable experience. Your local hardware store can call Marchant and order them. Or drive out from the Puget Sound and have a picnic.

Admittedly, my experience in art galleries is pretty limited. At the core, I'm just not smart…read moreenough to appreciate art. I love fun colors and a painting of something that I couldn't otherwise produce, but anymore I'm just not smart enough, or creative enough probably, to appreciate much of what's produced. We had some friends when we lived in the Midwest, whose parents owned an art gallery. It was fun to look around, but all of it was super high-end and the sort of thing that they would probably sell one or two paintings per month and be just fine doing. This art gallery, we found, was one that supports the local food bank and highlights artist from the area...Win-win! This gallery has a pretty small footprint, and is located on the north west corner of Tietan Square, in the town of Tietan. As an aside, this little town has done an amazing job of really fostering the arts in a place where they would otherwise be almost completely absent. The gallery is probably five or 600 ft.², with a large main room and a small offshoot. They display whatever artist has pieces to display, and also sell jewelry, greeting cards and other small art pieces. We were told that the places almost entirely run by volunteers and that the vast majority of the proceeds go to the local food bank. It's a really neat way to make sure that the food bank stays as stocked as possible. The cards here are all made by a gentleman who donates them in the proceeds go, again, to the local food bank. We found some pretty funny cards, as well as a number of them for other occasions. We can never find a birthday card when we need it so we figured we just pick up a few! All in all, this is a really cool little studio that supports the artistic mission of the community, and helps make sure the food bank has a relatively steady source of income. If you have a chance to check out this place, either just being in the area or for an event, It's well worth your time!
