Tucked away in the charming, old-world neighborhood of Jedlersdorf, Gasthaus Wild is a gem of a traditional Viennese spot. We came for Wednesday lunch as a group of four and were seated in the bright, airy patio -- complete with a retractable roof, which the attentive staff adjusted midway when the wind picked up. A great touch!
The food is classic Viennese fare, and while weekday lunch specials are available at very fair prices (including soup), we ordered off the regular menu. We had the bouillon with liver dumplings, the cordon bleu with potato salad, the venison ragout, and the calves liver with onions -- all beautifully prepared and full of rich, authentic flavor.
Service was warm and professional. Prices are a bit on the higher end, but the quality of both the food and the experience makes it worthwhile. A lovely place for a relaxed, elevated lunch in a historic setting. read more
