Totally agree with the 5 Star rating. This place was fantastic. We were both a little leery. We…read moremade reservations ahead (about a month or so) and so glad that we did. It was packed and we saw numerous people turned away. This restaurant is a two-person show - a husband and wife team. The wife is the chef and the husband does everything else from seating guests, taking the orders, fixing the drinks, serving the dishes and cleaning the tables...WOW!!! We ordered so much food. It was like a four-course tasting menu for two. Our selection consisted of the Hariri; Chicoree Orangen Salat; Gerostteter Blumenkohl; and Schweinebauch, Wilder Brokkoli, Kkarttooffel Wasabi Puree. The Harira arrived. It was a small bowl of Moroccan soup with a mixture of small pieces of vegetables in a delicious broth. The Orange Salad with endive lettuce was perfect with a nice topping of pecorino cheese. The third tasting of Roasted Cauliflower with a spicy sauce was delivered. Didn't know how I was going to like this dish because cauliflower is not one of my favorites. It was delicious. The last taste little dish arrived and it was another beauty - perfectly cooked pieces of pork belly with wasabi mashed potatoes with a bit of broccolini. Four excellent dished. Nothing left and no room dessert...next time and there will be a next time. Loved all of the tastes. Excellent service. Beautiful presentation. A great homey feel to the restaurant. Highly recommend making a reservation.

The prices are also average decent for Swiss food (ranging from CHF 25-45) especially when you take in the quality/care taken in the preparation of the food, and the very good service I get each time I am here. Regionally sourced foods and wines - with the fresh and wholesomeness you'd expect of Swiss cuisine. Vegetarians/Flexitarians will like this place, as their veggie offering has always delighted me such as the seasonal offering of mashed sweet potatoes topped with lentils and roasted shallots. As the menu changes time to time, it makes coming here exciting so don't get stuck on one dish. I did experience one appetizer once a few years ago that I wasn't crazy about (pulpo in soy) but as they can be experimental the things that may not sound right to you off hand is a hit or miss. If you are unsure, I'd suggest asking the friendly, good service wait staff here for recommendations. The slight drawback is that the lay out of this restaurant (as it is located in a market hall) may give the feeling to some that it is a canteen setting in a restaurant, but the excellent services makes up for that lack of character. Also a positive is it can be good for slightly larger groups. Upon my last visit, they even amped up the service by bringing cooked bones in a stainless steel dog bowl for my friend's dog immediately after seating us - and we didn't even ask for it! (We immediately declined it due to concerns over risk of splinters in digestion due to them being cooked) There are also some savvy/traditional appetizer dishes - to which I was fortunate enough to dine with a Swiss foodie/chef here to try them all... I suggest you also nab a Swiss foodie here to try out some of the offerings and see how it goes! As of July 2017, they no longer open on Sundays - I used to go to their brunches on a blue moon.

Our first visit was far from perfect, featuring a few culinary mistakes (like burnt goose liver)…read moreand some inexplicable odd behaviour from the head of service (like our reservation being changed without our approval). However, the restaurant has real potential, because Tobias Funke is an excellent chef. It's that simple. They were struggling with an influx of new guests they received due to Gault Millau's award, but they have reinforced the kitchen with a dedicated pastry chef, so you might have a better, more consistent experience than we did. Nobody's perfect, so we don't hold it against them. The food is all you would expect of a new gourmet restaurant headed by an excellent chef: Excellent bread and amuse bouches, creative compositions and big flavours. If you're looking to impress, then this is an excellent. The gourmet part of the restaurant is rather small, even though the tables are quite small, too. All of his PR wouldn't let you know that he has a knack for good pastry. His pre-dessert, an orange variation, is absolutely inspired. And his chocolate variation is truly excellent, one of the best showcases of Felchlin's ultra-luxurious Bolivian criollo Grand Cru couverture I've eaten so far. Beautiful presentation. Insider's tips: You can order from both menus if you eat in the bistro. The restaurant has a menu just for children. All food for the kids (and adults), from the ketchup to the french fries, is home-made and fresh, free from all artificial preservatives and flavor enhancers.
