White's Tree Farm

White's has a great selection of trees and we've been going there almost every year, except for the…read moreyears they closed before we got our tree or were traveling for Christmas. We've never had a complaint before, but, this year we, unfortunately, got charged for an 8 foot tree when ours turned out to be barely over 7 feet. I wasn't thinking about it when I paid for it until on the way home my husband was upset that I paid more and said there was no way that tree was 8 feet. When we set it up at home it's at least 4" from our less than 8 ft ceilings and that's in the tree stand that raises it a couple inches. So we paid $10 more for our tree. I don't know if that is a complaint about service since they hand you a little plastic slip that shows what to pay and I didn't see a color coded price sheet, and, it was partly my fault for having a conversation with the clerk while paying and not realizing the price was over what it should have been. They do a nice job of shaking trees, wrapping trees, helping put them in the car and have a nice "assembly line" for doing so. If White's are reading this, I would love it if you would put that extra $10 in the Camp TaKumTa jar. I have often supported that camp in memory of my little sister who died from leukemia. Thanks!

The 5 stars assumes you want to cut your own tree - if not, you may get a surprise when you find that there are not any precut trees. Bob and Joan White own the farm. When you arrive, they will ask you if you have a saw - you're greeted when you drive in. We didn't and they gave us a nice, sharp, easy to use saw. The trees are organized by type on the farm. If you don't know what type of tree you want, you can drive around or you can ask for suggestions. The pathways to drive through are farm ground, but well maintained, so there is no worries about getting stuck. I wanted a Frazier Fur tree (the best tree for looks and holding it's needles in my opinion. The best tree all around.) I asked for the Fraziers and was pointed to the left. We drove around looking. We found a good patch of trees and got out to walk. My wife spotted our tree. It was perfect. I cut 'er down. I could have put it on our vehicle, but I thought it best to take my prize and carry it back to the barn. At the barn, they shake the tree, wrap it and help put it on your car (we have an SUV) and tie it down. Inside you get free hot chocolate. We bought our 2010 ornament - hand made in Vermont - and some maple candies to share with out of state family. The people are nice and very helpful. This was a picturesque family day driving to the country to get our family Christmas tree.

It's very pleasant to stroll along Church Street, especially in the summertime and there are plenty of benches where you can sit and people watch. Church Street Marketplace has a mixture of chain and local stores. You can find everything from used books, to outdoor gear to name brand clothing. My favorite stores at Golden Hour where you can find lots of cute gifts, Smugglers Notch Distillery where you can sample delicious vodka, gin, bourbon, and maple liqueur, and Flora & Fauna - a second floor store filled with curiosities and oddities. Unfortunately, The 10,000 Villages store that I always enjoyed visiting, the Sox Market, and the Earthbound Store that I always found beautiful clothing in have all closed. There's also a great Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop on Church Street, several restaurants in a range of price levels, and some very comfortable cafes. It appeared decently safe, though there were some homeless people around the marketplace. The street parkings need to be paid with ParkMobile app during the posted hours. There are several hotels only few minutes walk from this place. There's also a parking lot nearby that offers 2 hours of free parking.

Sure there were strains and THC levels, but it was illegal and you didn't get to price things out. You mostly took what you could get. So now I need help with an understanding of Sativa v Indica and various aspects of the drug, not limited to 'flowers' over 'edibles' ect. Ceres was much different than going to a dispensary in Colorado. There you walked in, I.D. then talked to a person at the counter who as much a waitress as anything. This is not to dismiss my helpers service because she also helped me understand. what I was buying -- taste, potency, etc. Cerves was more like an Apple --- you were checked in, then you went into a room that had the products displayed (under glass). Everyone was professional and it was less like a head shop that I expected. I ignored the display cases and went straight to the woman with the iPad that you make your order (marijuana genius?? ha). She was really helpful, explained what I didn't know and put in my order. Then I headed to the cashiers. Or you ordered online and went straight to the cashier. I m guessing this is faster, but you should know what you are doing for that.
