I have been using Gastro Health for 3 years now and have been at this office at least 9 times.. I am surprised with the negative reviews and wanted to give my honest opinion regarding the services of this facility. 1. Parking Situation.. YES it is bad unless your appointment is after 3PM good luck finding parking but they have FREE valet parking with at least 3 people very reliable, professional and friendly and never demanded money but always good to provide a gratuity. 2. Administrative Services .. I always arrive 15min earlier and I have never ever have to wait. The service is smooth and fast. You check in and then you sit and they call you to one of the windows to present ID, insurance and co-payment. They gave you a print form and wait another 5 min or less. 3. A nurse will take you in very professional always to ask questions about changes, diet, medication/supplements, measure blood pressure etc. 5. Then in 10min or less you see the actual Dr. I will say by the time you check in and see the dr it will take no more than 20-30minutes. So please keep that in mind. There is a process go through. 6. Doctors.. I have used services of Dr. Flavia Mendes she is amazingly patient, caring and professional. She is pragmatic and efficient. She does not take too much time to examine but the time she uses is the right one. One time she had a major emergency with a patient and couldn't see me and they did not wanted me to wait and I was attended by Nurse Practitioner Darlene Boytell- Perez. She needed to give me my results of some exams and took 45 minutes. She explained to me everything in detailed, show me images and gave me wonderful tips on diet, etc. 7. Imaging.. Again extremely professional, punctual. I highly recommend this facility.. at least these providers. read more

CHOOSE ANOTHER GROUP I saw a doctor who is now in their group many years ago. I have since moved about an hour north. I am now being told that the doctors who are closer to me in this group are not accepting transfer patients. No one took the time to explain what a transfer patient was to me or how I could even be a transfer patient as I haven't seen anyone in the group for so long. In addition to the above, the appointment I made with their online service with a specific doctor, was actually made with another doctor. I made another online appointment with the correct doctor after attempting to call the office and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. Weeks later, I received a call that neither appointment would be honored. The first one's reason was that somehow *I* made an incorrect appointment online and needed an additional 15 minutes for my appointment. There were no choices as to how long appointment times were online. I was then told that the additional appointment I had made with the correct doctor needed to be cancelled because he is not taking new patients. Mind you- there is a question that asks established or new patient before you see the open appointment times. I am so disappointed. The doctor I had originally seen (before any other GI doctors) when I first encountered issues is in their group. ***Now I will NOT be seeing ANY doctor in the Gastro Health group because I would be a transfer. Follow up on my review. So now they owe me money. But of course, it takes 30 to 45 days to get my refund via check. I paid with a credit card and it should be a quick turn around. I tried to contact her via phone and email countless times. Never got a reply. Firstly, your appointment scheduling system has proven to be highly unreliable. I have attempted to use it on multiple occasions, only to encounter a series of errors and glitches. These issues include: Technical Errors: I have encountered numerous technical errors while trying to schedule appointments, I received a confirmation for an appointment, only to arrive at the designated time and find out that the appointment was not actually scheduled. Outsource custom service, does not work, they are not connected with the doctors booking system These recurring problems have not only inconvenienced me but have also wasted valuable time and caused undue stress. Furthermore, I have reached out to your customer service department multiple times to seek assistance with these issues, but the level of service I received has been far from satisfactory. The customer service representatives I have spoken to were either unhelpful or seemed overwhelmed by the number of complaints they were handling (they limit themselves to only send messages to the people in charge). This suggests that I am not the only one experiencing these problems, as evidenced by the many complaints I have come across from other frustrated customers. read more

My husband had a colonoscopy and endoscopy on Monday done there last Monday. He has pain on his left hip. He asked to be put him on the right side but they didn't. When he woke up his bed was dirty and he was on his left side. He had to get a towel to clean himself. They promised him that they would give him a wheelchair and that they would call me to see him when he woke up. I had to ask for him 3 times and they didn't know anything. My surprise was to see him walking with a nurse. She gave me an envelope and after I left she called me to come back because she forgot to put something in the envelope. Gastro Health does a great disservice to its affiliated physicians. I had a colonoscopy two years ago and I recently received a letter in the US mail from Gastro Health that I am due for a colonoscopy and I should schedule an appointment. The letter was signed by my GI physician (no handwritten signature). Since my GI told me after my last procedure that I won't need a routine colonoscopy for another five years, I called his office and he reassured me that I don't need one for another three years. Gastro Health seems to be using the same technique used by scrupulous "extended warranty" providers, who tell you to renew your warranty even though there are another one or two years left on the existing one. read more

Trying to make an appointment but calls always go to voice mail. I finally left a message and when I received a callback, I could not discuss as I was in a meeting. Called again after my meeting and here we are 24 hours later and still no callback. When I call, it means I can speak. As many other people, I have a job and as a customer/patient, just because you call me when it's convenient for you, it does not mean it's convenient for me. Perhaps the greatest pieces of crap that is around as a medical practitioner. The reception staff is horrific. All they do is take messages for doctors and input them into a system where they are never checked. Dr. Leavitt and his staff IGNORE patients calls and concerns. I have personally been left without medication for as long as 2 months and after foolishly giving them a second chance, I am forced to experience the same uncaring attitudes once again. If you enjoy wasting your time waiting on a medical response that will never come and doctors who could care less about your well being and good health, then this is the place for you. My Gastroenterologist is Dr. Howard Maunus in Stuart, FL. I keep getting a bill from Gastro Health. I made an appointment with him. He ordered a Cologuard screening which is fully covered by my insurance. His phone number was disconnected, and his office was abandoned shortly after the test was ordered. To date, I have not received a result from my screening test. Who is Gastro Health? How did they receive my records without my consent? Where are they located? How can I contact them? Is this a scam? This is a very big office/practice with several doctors. There's a process they go through the minute you walk in. Someone checks you in, someone else charges you for the copay, someone else brings you to a room, then someone else takes the vitals. They definitely have a system in place, which is nice when it's different doctors and so many appointments scheduled at the same time. I had specifically scheduled with a doctor over the phone, however i was advised while paying co payment I'd be seeing someone else since that doctor had an emergency and had to leave. Wait time inside the exam room was excessive, to the point that I had to open the door and ask because I honestly thought they had forgotten about me. 10 minutes later an apprentice of some sort came to evaluate me and ask me questions. Long story short I ended up seeing one of the doctors for about 5 mins before leaving. I never had to return since my symptoms went away, but had I needed to see them again I'm not sure I would have. read more

As someone in the customer service and constituent service world, I am embarrassed for Gastro Health. What a disgrace to the medical field. The doctors are stellar but it's virtually impossible to get a hold of them due to their incompetent staff. Across the board, they cannot be bothered to answer the phone or return a phone call. MONTHS for results but seconds to charge your insurance or copayment. My husband is a patient of Dr. Estrada and his team has their act a bit more together. My poor father, however, is a patient of Dr. Martell and his staff is there to collect a paycheck. I called three times on 8/10 and spent 45 minutes on hold listening to a recording tell me how much they care about me and my time. On the 5th call I finally figured out how to leave a message which has not been returned. Today it was hold again. The likely explanation is "we are short staffed." I DO NOT care. Work overtime. I am extremely upset and not sure what to do at the moment because of Gastro Health's incompetence with billing. I had several visits March and April of last year, and I paid every bill that they charged me. Just 3 weeks ago, I received a letter from Collections letting me know I owed a Gastro Health bill. I found a great doctor (Behar) with the worst reception employees ever! I have been hung up on twice today after waiting 15 minutes on hold. Now they won't answer the calls. I have to blame them all as someone must be correcting their behavior and obviously they're not. It's the day before procedure and I have no information from the doctor's office. I did get in contact with the center for the procedure and they informed me on facility fees but nothing from Gastro Health. It's very disappointing to have such terrible patient service from their office employees. Imagine not being able to get a hold of the doctor's office and getting disconnected when you do. I have been coming to Dr. Calleja since 2014 for stomach issues. I found Dr. Callejas to be so different than my other GI Doctor even though they both belong to the same group. Dr. Callejas is very thorough and doesn't hurry you along to get to the next patient. He allowed me and my son who was there as a patient as well to ask questions and concerns. He even moved my appointment from next week to the same day of my son which was this past Tuesday so I wouldn't have to come again. His staff probably weren't too happy as it was past 5 pm and they had to go home. The only thing that I find confusing it's the different station you have to go through to check in, pay and then after your visit to another station for with follow-up appointment or other appointments. I forgot about parking. Not very good. I was tempted to park at the nearby Winn Dixie. They do have valet but not sure how much they charge. This is the only reason I give them a 4. While my physician appears very competent the Gastro health business model is appalling. It is run like a factory. If you need a procedure you will be on an assembly line. The billing system is awful. Even after being told I owe nothing I am still getting bills seven months after my procedure. Good luck trying to communicate with billing if you questions. Last year when I made my appointment to see Dr Fishbein it took five calls to the office just to get an appointment set. Either the calls go unanswered, or when you finally get somebody to answer they put you on hold and never come back except to disconnect the call. You have one of the worst reputations for providing patient services. Check your own reviews, and you'll see. Recently, I just received a notice from your office to schedule an appointment. I just called and was disconnected four times. Twice the representative picked up and put me on immediate hold, but never returned except the disconnect the call. Last year, I got plenty of lame excuses that you guys were having phone issues, internet issues and staffing issues. There should be no excuses for that one year later. I think you guys just do not know how to provide excellent or even decent patient customer service. You're very good at providing substandard service. I voiced my concerns and complaints to Dr Fishbein in person last year, he vowed that changes were coming and that he was going to talk to the Office Manager. Sadly, it appears one year later you guys are still extremely deficient,l. Finally my insurance had to get someone to make the appointment, did telehealth appt; got meds, time and location for colonoscopy last week. I called my insurance to make sure the outpatient was in network, but it wasn't. I called and called and left messages at this location; no response. I started cutting back in food and started the meds today, only to get a call that they are cancelling the appointment. The doctors may be ok, but rest of staff is not available everrrrr.
