I would have choose zero if I was able to. I spoke with Beth who is the scheduling person for Dr. Holmes and she is the most unempathic, rude, condescending person I think I have spoke with in a decade or more! If that is the first line of staff you speak to and I was the providers I would change that asap, because I can promise you she is not a kind person. Being a nurse myself it's so disheartening. Do better people healthcare is about empathy first and every thing else last. Currently waiting on an office manger to call me back and I plan to escalate as much as I possibly can because I can not imagine how other people have been spoken to. The nurses and doctor were all mostly nice. I had to wait over an hour- they tell you arrive an hour early but that's just to sit in the waiting room- not for prep. I felt like we were herded in by cattle. Nurses explained everything very very fast. Mind you, we've been fasting so I need time to think. Once I woke up they had me out very fast. I even asked for 5 minutes, then asked for more time but no I was out very fast with no time to just wake up on my own. For what our insurances and ourselves are paying, I expect better. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my second test in five years because of previous results. During the pre visit questions, I was asked my entire health history with exception of a question regarding intubation. It was a critical question that should have been asked prior to my test. I'm not a doctor and assumed that all necessary questions were considered. I prepared for my test the day/night before. Went in to the clinic that day and was called back to an exam room. I was all ready for the test and the anesthesiologist came in to review the procedure. She asked the question regarding intubation that stopped the show. She stated, "they should have asked that before making the appointment". The doctor came in to inform me that we would have to do the procedure at a later date in a different location. The scheduling personnel was supposed to schedule the new appointment and call me back. Two years later.... I'm still waiting for the call. I always like to say one positive thing in my reviews. I wish I would have read the reviews before my procedure as it's interesting I'm not the only one disappointed with my experience from Gastrointestinal Associates. They operate to get as many patients in and out as quick as possible and I strongly recommend ASKING about cost of procedure with your specific insurance before scheduling appointment. Lack of price transparency. Walked away with 6 different bills. On the day of visit they have you fill form as you consent for financial responsibility and state you MAY need something. Doctor meets you for 30 seconds before procedure and never see or talk to them again. read more

This is a great place for the dreaded colonoscopy. The staff were very efficient, but still caring. Dr. Brown and the anesthesiologist were great. I was given easy to follow pre-procedure instructions, and was able to order a complete pre-procedure kit through them at a reasonable cost. That made the difficult part rather simple. Disappointed with communication here. I was never really given a breakdown on how things worked. Waited over an hour in the lounge not knowing that's common. The anesthesiologist and nurse talked over me in the procedure room, when I was clearly nervous, doing nothing to help calm me. Connected with this group, specifically Dr Sutton while admitted in hosp. Thought care was good and had discussed making this practice/Dr Sutton our provider as there was ongoing GI issues and a feeding tube associated. Upon discharge was told to call for appt. But was told by his nurse that "DR SUTTON WAS NOT COMFORTABLE taking care of my son" that has special needs. Well.. obviously he didn't feel confident in his own skills to handle a "normal" GI issue. He certainly shouldn't be providing care in the ER and ICU! Noone from that practice will NEVER touch my son. Run as fast as you can from this group group! read more

The doctor I had Dr.Mavick while I was in the hospital was not able to help me and didn't seem to care about my internal bleeding. Thank God there were others that could help me. When my doctor referred me to him for other gi issues he refused to see me. I guess he didn't feel confident that he has the knowledge to help me. Dr Holmes seemed nice and I went through an upper and lower. After this they said that I had to come in for an appointment to discuss treatment options. After paying over 3K I now have to pay again for an appointment to discuss what I paid 3k for. I'd think it would be a package deal. Dr Holmes assistant / nurse Harley (sp) is not exactly pleasant to talk to. It always seems like I'm inconveniencing her. Dr. Young was ok, only saw him once after a procedure, his PA that was seen on the first visit for him was very nice, but his nurses and staff are rude and uncaring. They are horrible about calling back with test results or anything else. When they do finally call, they have an attitude and talk to you with disrespect. I was seen by the NP Celeste for swallowing complications due to my Barrett's Esophagus. My former GI specialist recently retired and I have been terrified as a mother of two small children that I have recently had difficulty swallowing along with other symptoms. Celeste spent maybe 3 min. with me before scheduling a EGD and an unnecessary colonoscopy. Why do I need a colonoscopy for swallowing issues? Celeste did not offer any suggestions for diet change nor any comfort about possible diagnosis. Literally 3 min is what I got. When she left the room a surgery scheduler came in and I kindly asked her if I could ask Celeste a question as I had gotten ZERO feedback. The scheduler left the room and I heard her ask Celeste to return so I could ask her a question her immediate response was "what question?" In a VERY rude and annoyed tone. The scheduler replied with "treatment options" and Celeste then again replied in a very harah and RUDE tone "oh my God...I just told her ugghhh".....I LEFT IN TEARS.... I cried the entire drive home and went to bed very unsettled. This am I called and obtained an appt. with a different practice immediately. ALSO- this practice is NOT doing any COVID-19 testing prior to surgeries or procedures. That itself is extremely dangerous to patient care as I expressed symptoms of complete loss of smell and taste and shortness of breath. read more

Although, I really liked the physician that did the colonoscopy, the staff is beyond rude and not helpful or educated. Our physician had written a prescription that needed to be pre-authorized. In the meantime, we were needing samples, the staff wouldn't provide them as our doctor was on vacation. This really shouldn't be a problem that the patient bears as they are in a group practice and all the physicians share call. They also would not provide me with a rebate voucher, which the physician said they would when he wrote the prescription. Instead of trying to understand the situation they were rude to me and acted like I was an idiot. One of the main responsibilities when providing patient care is to provide adequate followup and care after a procedure in a reasonable amount of time, this will not happen if you chose to go to this practice. read more

I have tried to contact the "office manager", Carrie Coglizer, called her, and her relief personnel and emailed her. There was one voicemail left from Carrie stating she didn't know there was an issue. I then sent this email below. I have had no reply from anyone in the office, but they were unprofessional enough to go through my chart and call my primary, which did not refer me to them, to simply tell her that I am not their patient. We were quite confused and a little amused at their childishness. I was, however, not surprised by their lack of professionalism or the fact that they have no problem committing hippa violations. You do not look in a "previous patients" chart (according to them) to call their Dr. that has nothing to do with you, to simply inform them that you are not treating said patient. You ONLY enter a patients chart in the process of direct care. "Carrie, I would say long story short, but they rarely ever are. So here goes... As you will come to realize, I have debilitating anxiety. That being said, I had an appointment with your office to have and EGD done by Dr. Sturgeon on January 11th. For the two days prior I bawled my eyes out. I spoke with a nurse at one of the offices On the 9th. She stated that my questions seemed more anesthesia related so she would have and anesthesiologist call me back. On the 10th a lady anesthesiologist called and left me a message and I called back immediately, but unfortunately she had already left the office. So, Andrew called me back instead... He asked for me by name, I jokingly said "that's me the lady you are trying to kill". He said "You don't think that." he didn't say it comfortingly, he said it as a statement, like he was telling me how I felt. I replied "I don't really think that is your goal because if I died you would get sued, but my anxiety is through the roof so it has taken over at this point..." He then goes on, and on, and yes ON, about how this is elective and if I'm that scared then I shouldn't do it! I have literally waited for 4 years to have an actual career and good insurance so I could get this horrific pain checked out. No, for me it is not elective, I actually have to get it done. After he was done ranting to me about how I don't NEED the procedure done, and I shouldn't even do it if it's going to cause me anxiety my next words were "You should not be the one to call and comfort patients. You have made this so much worse for me." I also said that "I am not a bad patient because I'm a nurse-" to that he scoffed. I ignored his belittling at this point and continued my sentence. "- I have always had horrible anxiety, I have an irregular heart beat and I don't feel like anesthesia is the best idea for me." He then replies with "Oh? And how have I made this worse?" I'm literally standing in my kitchen with my mouth wide open in shock at this point! That's all he took from what I said? I hung up the phone. I have only worked in healthcare for about 5 years, but I have NEVER, not ever, heard a HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL ever address their patient in this manner. And I have worked with some pretty rude doctors. Soon after a female from the office called to tell me that Andrew convinced the Dr. to not do my procedure because I called and said I was going to sue them?! So apparently Mr. Unprofessional himself twisted what I had said because he was so offended that I said he made my anxiety worse, or because I hung up the phone. Either way, his twisting and manipulating the Dr. are absolutely unacceptable! By your message the truth had not been conveyed to you either. No, at no point did I say that I did not want my procedure done at your office. Honestly after his absurd treatment I was ready to just do the EGD with no anesthesia because I HAVE TO GET IT DONE, and there is no way I would let Andrew near me, especially if I was sedated. It has literally taken me this long to not be sick to my stomach enough to write you this email. I waiting two weeks before checking my voicemail because I could only guess what lies he had fed to you and my anxiety literally rules my life. The professional thing for your office to do would have been to call me back after my first voicemail. I do want to formally file a complaint against Andrew. If I need his last name, credentials and or someone else to contact I would appreciate that information from your office. There is no way that it is okay for him to treat patients this way or to twist and manipulate the truth because he wants to act petty and vindictive. Thank you for your time."
