Tiny rustic place with good service and authentic tasting Italian . Reasonable prices and quantity . Good small wine list with fair pricing and some Italian options. Limited options per glass.Started with bruschetta with gorgonzola and speck. Tasty a bit salty could have used a dab of sweetness from fig or honey . Had carbonara with gluten free penne. A tad salty also and a bit too liquid the sauce but tasty . desert was the most disappointing apple pie with crust under. Saw some ok looking pizzas on neighboring tables. For a small restaurant amidst many so-so restaurants in the downtown area, this restaurant absolutely blew me away. The service was great - the chef / owner was an excellent host, and the fresh pasta was some of the best I've ever had. Here's the rundown of the food: - Tortellini with broth: these fresh tortellini were stuffed with spinach and ricotta, and tasted delicious in the simple vegetable broth. Overall a solid dish. - Bruschetta: the tomatoes were some of the most delicious / freshest I've ever had. With some olive oil, salt, garlic, and parsley on bread this was the perfect bruschetta - Penne Arrabbiata: again the tomatoes shone here with an amazing sauce and the perfect kick of spice. The fresh pasta was one of the best I've ever had with a perfect al debate cook and tasted insanely delicious. - Spaghetti Aglio et Olio: another simple dish executed to perfection, with a beautiful olive oil and a dash of black pepper that helped elevate the dish. - Grilled sirloin with fries: this dish was a miss, as the steak was not a particularly good cut, somewhat tough, and quite underseasoned with only a bit of olive oil, but the fries were pretty good. One member of our party received a rare steak, and the chef had the attention to detail to notice that and fix it by searing the steak a little longer which was very impressive on their end. - Tiramisu: was pretty good, the lady fingers were a little light on the espresso and it was primarily the mascarpone show, but it was still a decent dessert. Overall would say this is an excellent spot for fresh pasta that blew me away. The pizza is apparently also very good (we didn't try it) but away from the pasta / pizza the dishes are a bit more hit or miss. After a long and great day in Sintra we made our way to Cascais to see the beach and find a spot for dinner. We walked along the Main Street with shops and restaurants and after reading a few menus stopped at Gastronomia as Italian sounded good. We arrived around 8 & decided on the Beef Carpaccio and Mixed salad with Bufala Mozarella for starters. Both dishes were excellent! For mains, we ordered Pasta Sancho Pancio (our server mentioned it was one of the most popular dishes), Spaghetti Carbonara (I asked if the cream was heavy & when she answered "we don't use cream just Parmesan cheese and egg with bacon-I was in!) and a Pizza -half pepperoni ( comment-"one of the best pizzas I've ever had") We also ordered Sangria which all enjoyed. On a day trip into Cascais, we luckily had a recommendation from members of our large group trip that dined here earlier in the day. They told us that it was wonderful food served by wonderful people, and that was the truth. They were very busy when we arrived. I ran in and told them we would wait for a patio table & that we would be having drinks at the bar across the street. The server (Beyoncé) gave us the wave when our table was ready. There were four of us. I had a spicy, bacon, onion red sauce penne which was delicious. Others had pepperoni pizza, pasta carbonara, and lasagna. Everyone was very happy, and the Portuguese bottles of red wine were perfect accompaniments. Their Tiramisu was super creamy and less coffee flavored than I'm used to, but I enjoyed it more than any I've ever had. Made our day more memorable in Cascais! read more

We ordered lasagna and ravioli and both dishes were incredible. We considered going back for a second dinner during our three-day stay in town. We also were waited on by the theatrical owner. The restaurant is not fancy and likely is not the right setting for a special occasion, but I will be thinking about our lasagna and ravioli for for months. read more
