Salmon with lime risotto
Natalie E.

5entidos is a great little place for a meal with friends. If you head out of Lisbon at all (which I DO recommend), Cascais is a lovely spot. And 5entidos embodies the spirit of Cascais. It is elegant, but warm and inviting. They have a variety of specialties, but my group all ordered seafood and we were not disappointed. We had a group of 5, and were seated upstairs in the loft. It was a nice area above the rest of the restaurant, and afforded us a little privacy. We felt like VIPs. I ordered the salmon with lime risotto and I have to tell you that the rest of my dinner companions all had a taste of the risotto! Easily the best risotto I've had outside Italy. It was perfectly cooked of course, and had the perfect hint of lime. It was noticeable but not obnoxious...just the right amount of acid to cut the creaminess. The salmon was marinated with some kind of oil (I'm not familiar with it) and was tender enough to flake off into chunks with my fork. Prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food and the ambiance. Around 12-15 euro per person for entrees. The name is clever--substituting the S for a 5 makes it stand out.

We got a table inside for our party of 7. In Portugal you are almost always offered bread, wine, cheese and butter for a charge and we took part again. The prices are so incredibly economical! We ordered an appetizer, drinks and our meal. My husband went for the grilled sea bass but I chose a traditional meal of salted cod. Our meals were good but the service was very slow and I had eaten much better elsewhere on this trip. It lacked the ambiance that we love in restaurants but was likely a good choice with so many kids at our table.

We love this place! Stopped in our first night of our vacation and came back 2 more times. The staff was really friendly and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the mussel pate they bring out as a starter and the grilled octopus. Make sure to call in a reservation as they are usually booked.

Great spot for some fresh seafood! Tried the squid which were indescribably good. Succulent, well…read moremarinated yet light, simple, and just so fresh. We also got the grilled sardines. They were as expected. Generally, seafood isn't cleaned by default (fish bile is not removed, shrimp is not deveined, etc.) so I had to do some cleaning but they were fresh and good too. Very salty, but you can avoid the skin to avoid the salt. Both mains came with a side. Choices were salad, boiled potatoes, or fries. Tried the salad and fries and got some rice as an additional side. Not too pricey either.

I never got to finish this review from our Portugal trip this past Spring…read more We visited the town of Cascais while in Lisbon. Cascais was highly recommended by the hotel concierge and an expat we met while in line at Pasteis de Belem. We decided to search for restaurants that are off the beaten path and luckily came across Melody. It was cozy and had a small outdoor dining area. The menu was pretty expansive and the portions were generous for the price. Since we've had lots of seafood during our trip so far, I asked our friendly and wonderful server for his recommendations on their beef menu. I opted for Bitoque à Melody. This was a generous portion of steak in mushroom cream sauce which was outstanding. My husband ordered Salmão Grelhado, a grilled salmon filet and baby potatoes served with garlic and garlic pepper in a light olive oil sauce. For dessert, server recommended 2 that are popular, but it didn't stand out as much as the savory items.

First off, you need to make a reservation. The restaurant is small and very popular. I was able to…read moremake a reservation for the same day though, because luckily Portugal had a World Cup match that night. We sat inside the cantina side. Our server was adorable and bubbly with a great sense of humor. She did get really busy though toward the end of our meal and it was a challenge to flag her down for our check. With that said, she provided exceptional service earlier. This is the kind of place you want to go to with others who love tasting a variety of dishes. I went with my family who is not into that concept, and so I had to choose just one dish that I would not be sharing, as no one else wanted to share theirs either. Some of the dishes were quite small, but mine was not! I ordered the octopus which was cooked to perfection and had a mix of potatoes and greens underneath. Would definitely order this again! It was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. The one thing we did share was the croquettes. They were delightful, but kind of expensive as they were 1.70Euros each and were literally one bite, but a very flavorful bite at that. I also had a few glasses of their summer sangria which I rather enjoyed. I would return here when in Cascais again, but maybe with a different group of people so that we can treat it as tapas as it should be instead of individual dishes. There's so much more I want to try from their menu!

We were lucky to get a table - as we ate we could see people lining up around the corner…read more It was good but not great: Pork cheeks with potato gratin came out cold and were not fall apart tender. Seafood pasta tasted as if it had been cooked in seafood water, but I think that's the style around here. Croquettes were meh. Pasta special of the day (vegetarian) was incredible. Sangria was perfect. Most of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall good, but not somewhere I'd fight to get into considering the number of close by restaurants.
