We were at the Altes Forstamt for dinner last August, and were seated outside in the lovely patio area, which overlooks a peaceful little square beside the moated Kirchheim Palace.
The ambiance both outside and inside the resto is very very nice, and the menu is a bit more sophisticated then the usual boring south German fare of dishes overloaded with gravy.
Both our fish and beef orders were nicely prepared and presented. The service was very good, even though the timing felt a bit rushed - we barely had time to finish our pre-dinner drinks before our first course arrived. But this seems on par with other German restaurants.
We likely visit again.
