Gatecrasher Seven (no idea why it's got a numerical value) only opened in Leeds a few years ago, but has quickly established itself as one of Leeds' premier nightclubs. Strangely for such a national institution, it is located next to all the independent bars such as Mojo and North Bar, and provides an excellent place to go once you've had enough of expensive continental 'biere' in these places.
Be careful which night you choose to go, however, or you could find yourself spending twice what you expected to. On weekends, the entrance fee can be anywhere between £5 and £15, although they do run huge nights such as Hed Kandi and attract massive DJs such as Armin van Buuren. On Thursdays, however, they run the sort of binge-drinking night that you hear members of parliament moaning about all the time: £8 or £10 in (depending on your gender), all you can drink. This sort of opportunity to get drunk on a shoestring obviously draws the students, but locals are seemingly allowed in too, and the place is usually rammed as the patrons get down to house, funky house and mainstream dance.
Monday nights here were a student staple in Leeds last year, and the upcoming academic year promises to be no different, meaning that Gatecrasher has, over the course of the week, something for most people. read more
