The number one thing I was looking for in an officiant was someone that could make it seem like they had known us for years. Someone that would take in all of the personal details about us and tell a story. He had people laughing, smiling, and crying throughout our ceremony - all for the right reasons! We also presented an odd request - to do a tequila shot during the ceremony! This is something that had a story behind it was very special to us. He absolutely nailed it and worked it into his speech so flawlessly so that it made it seem normal. We also had a unexpected event happen during our ceremony that he handled very well. He was professional and compassionate, he got so many compliments on how we acknowledged the incident, then proceeded without missing a beat. He was truly the prefect person for the job and I would recommend him every single time.

He claimed that he accidently double booked the date. This is weeks after his initial committment. When asked why the other wedding got preference he stated that it was because the other had couple paid. I found this disingenous because we had spoken about a deposit, etc when he initially committed. He should have just not committed. Bottom line is that we are now stuck without an officiant. I my opinion: No way to run a business. Suggest you look elsewhere.

Christina always made time for us, driving out of her way to meet with us during our first encounter, and spending a lot of time helping us choose our vows. She allowed us to tell her want we wanted, and even e-mailed us a template of a ceremony for my husband and I to edit and change as we saw fit. He first officiated at our…read moredaughter's wedding in Rochester, MI., five years ago and then at our son's wedding four years ago because we were all so pleased with his services. We had numerous compliments on both wedding ceremonies. An hour after I talked with him initially (because our children were out of state), he had e-mailed the general vows that he uses with the explanation that he is pleased to include any readings or ceremonies that the bride and groom desire. (Our children both chose a sand ceremony.) His paperwork included that he did not work with wedding coordinators (or aunts or others who try and direct the wedding ceremony). Our family had no problem with this. Both sets of the brides and grooms met with Rev. O'Grady prior to the wedding rehearsal to discuss the ceremonies and their preferences. He came to the wedding rehearsal totally prepared and his wife assisted him at both the rehearsal and ceremony by getting the wedding party lined up and started off on the correcct foot. She explained to the women how to hold the bouquets for pretty pictures and was wonderful. . Both Rev. O'Grady and his wife were extremely gracious and patient with everyone including the 3 little flower girls and ring bearer at our son's wedding. The reason that I came across this negative review was because I was googling his name to obtain his phone number .Our niece is interested in contacting him to officiate at her wedding and asked me for his phone number.

It got a little windy the day of; he helped me when I got caught in my veil... I made light of it, and everyone laughed it off! DH and I both wrote a little commitment speech to each other (kind of like your own vows) and it was great. If you have the opportunity to do that, do it. I think that's what MADE our ceremony.

She starts off with a quick introduction meeting to get to know you as a couple. Next, you and your spouse fill out an extensive questionnaire together and separately. Emily creates your vows based on the answers from the questionnaire. We needed very few revisions from the original draft. Overall, it was a great experience and would absolutely go with Emily again if I had to do this process again.
