This local company also has a lower cost we were previously paying, with larger shred bins! Exceptional customer service without the run around, and shows up when expected. It's a win-win! Had initially looked into having them come to house - but after comparing the price for that vs the price to bring to their facility, opted to bring it there. Facility was easy to find by the airport and once there, the interaction was fast and smooth!! Everyone I encountered was extremely friendly and pleasant! And they did all the 'heavy lifting'! They remove both small amounts of junk such as single pieces of furniture to large amounts of junk such as house clean-outs and construction debris. I have been a customer of this business two times--once in 2024 and once in 2026. For both services, I contacted the business with a list and photos of my junk, and within hours, the owner Tony texted me a range for an estimate, and he gave me options for appointments that week. Both services were scheduled for the next day around 11 AM. I had all of my junk in my garage, so the employees backed their truck up to my garage doors. For the first service, they spent several minutes moving my junk--shelving units, wooden fence rails, an office chair, a bifold closet door, a few pieces of concrete rebar, a rug, etcetera--to their truck. For the second service, they moved only an L-shaped desk to their truck. For the first service, their final price was on the low end of the estimate range, and I inserted my credit card into their reader. For the second service, their final price was on the high end of the estimate range, and they told me that I would have to either call with my credit-card number or pay with Venmo or another service, so I chose Venmo. The price to remove the L-shaped desk was roughly a couple hundred dollars.

There were over 500 boxes of legal documents at my parents' house that had to be shredded by a company certified to handle such confidential records. I called every shredding company in Pittsburgh and Steel City is the only one in the area that will come to a residential setting to do the work on site. They answered my call right away, listened to what I needed and scheduled a service visit right away. In addition, my parents' house is in a rural area that is very difficult to access. They assured me that they could handle the job; and they did, in an excellent manner. Steel City sent two industrial trucks to shred the documents that were in a small barn and a two story garage. The gentlemen they sent were extremely hardworking, thorough, and kind. It was a really cold day and the conditions were crowded and dirty. They worked non stop for hours to handle this task. Because of these amazing gentlemen and Steel City Shredding, I was able to meet the ABA shredding requirement and also meet the court deadline to close out my parents' estate. Steel City Shredding exceeded every expectation and in addition, every person I dealt with at this company was professional, compassionate, thorough, and responsive.
