First off, "Skip" seems to be the real deal. You feel like everything he says and promises will happen. I thought I might see some high-speed low-drag individuals on the job, or even "Skip" I gave a hefty deposit just as Covid hit. As I am a commercial landlord I expected late or no pays and lost tenants. I got them all. Before all that happened I told Skip that I was rethinking spending $28k and wanted to wait to see what would come of Covid and that I wanted my deposit back. Mind you it was a very nice email I sent. I got a three page all in red letters and caps email back that was so angry and exclamatory I was in disbelief. He refused and threatened suing me for the rest of the contract. He had not ordered a single thing for my job as he claimed, I hadn't even finalized roof and siding color. I decided to risk the economy and get the roof done. The next weeks were painful to say it politely. A crew of Guatemalans who don't speak English worked hard I will admit. They had no bathroom to use and no vehicle to get to one so they peed and pooped on my property. I unknowingly stepped in human excrement while walking the job one day. As I sat down to eat my lunch at my desk I smelled it and looked down and it was all over my pants from walking outside. I found the pile in a convenient place to poop outside if you don't want anyone to see it happen. He said it is impossible to be his crew!? Well, I was the only one here, I didn't do it. Was it a dog? I have a dog and I am a human so I know what human poop looks like. I had to go home and throw things out. No apology. They cut my tenant's cable line off because it was in the way of putting metal siding on. No internet for the weekend for them. The aluminum flashing blew off on the back of the building first wind storm, three pieces. Each were attached with four very small trim nails. I sent him pictures over three months ago and he all caps replied: I WILL MAKE SURE IT GETS DONE WITHIN TWO WEEKS. Nothing....I emailed and texted him again, nothing. I texted him again just two weeks ago and he said he is busy but he will get back to me. There were so many nails on the property it was crazy. His Dump-trailer has more holes than floor so all the nails they do pick up end up on our streets and damaging our tires. I pointed it out and he didn't really care. My gutters weren't perfect before the roof, but they were way more bent up after the job. His attitude and personality changed 180 degrees between meeting him the first time and getting my deposit. After that he became someone I can never recommend. I'm still waiting on any sign that he will fix what is broken. I likely will not see him for the free annual roof inspection either. I regret this experience, don't make the same mistake.

I needed to have the roof replaced on the estate house within 30 days for insurance purposes. I contacted Vaz Construction and was connected with Elijah DeSouzs as my project manger. He was the best. Kept in touch with me on a timely basis, always on time for on-site appointments, knowledgeable about the roof products and friendly and kind. We were able to get the job done within my time frame. One guy would be there for three days and then someone new would show up and have no clue what the last guy did. One of the employees painted the bathroom walls without even wiping the walls down after sanding. At one point, I had to tell the project manager that I did not want anyone in my home until I met with him. The lack of craftsmanship, and integrity was upsetting to say the least. Who puts kitchen cabinets in before painting??? Once the job was complete, it took Vaz Construction another month to come back and finish the things that were not completed. Overall the experience was very disappointing, even more-so with the amount of money they charged us for their sub par work.
