I ordered the catfish platter with French fries and a side salad, along with a 32 oz Maryland crab soup. Everything was delicious. The catfish was cooked perfectly, the fries were solid, and the crab soup was full of flavor and packed with crab. The service was also really good. The cashier was patient, let me take my time, and even offered helpful suggestions, which made the experience even better. Gay's Seafood is a Easton Shore must! They now have a new location that serves as a Seafood Market and a Deli, where you can sit down and enjoy food. There is a paved parking lot with plenty of parking. We have been going to Gay's for years so it's good to see them expand to a new location. We always get the crabs, with paper and the wooden crackers. The crabs are consistently fresh and delicious and never disappoint! If your planning a trip to the shore stop by and check them out. You want a dirty old place that sells the best, most fresh seafood around??? Then definitely get yourself to Gay's Seafood! The place is a little hard to find but just follow the hand-cut crab signs nailed to the trees. You will find it! Do not let the appearance of the shack put you off. Doors open, flies and bugs buzzing around. Maybe there were windows; maybe not. I cannot remember. But the seafood is plentiful and right off the boat. The guy working tonight was friendly but not too friendly. "You want something not here?" he asked us. Just call us in the morning and I will be sure to get it for you. Got takeout fish platter. They asked me if I wanted tartar sauce, I said yes. Got to my destination and no tartar sauce, no napkins and no utensils. If you're not going to put that stuff in the to-go bag, don't tie it up and tell people to grab their own. Mac and cheese was bland (it's ok to use salt people) and stewed tomatoes were so sweet they were in-edible. Fish might have been good but since I had no tartar sauce I didn't want it. read more

Small market that sells all you really need for a great Maryland seafood meal- crabs, clams, soups, shrimps and a few sides! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Since we're not from the area and weren't too familiar with the market, we had a lot of questions.We ordered 2 dozen clams, a cream of crab, and 2 shrimp macaroni salads. The shrimp macaroni is AMAZING. I could eat this ALLLLL DAY. If you get nothing else here, I'd recommend this. The soup was solid as well although not anything to write home about and the clams were good too! They threw in a free sauce for us since we were a bit confused what to do with them. Overall this is a great small local spot! Unfortunately they don't have corn, but otherwise I'd definitely come here for your seafood needs!!! read more

I'm from Pittsburgh and everytime we are in the area on a fishing trip I always pick up a bussel of crabs to take back home. I have never been disappointed in the crabs or the price. Called in September to arrange for crabs and crab legs in December for a large family gathering. Told at that time that they could order in crabs and to call back in November, which I did. When I called in November I was told I would get a call back from the owner that never happened. Called back myself and was told they are moving and boilers probably would not be available for my event in December. Asked for any local comparable recommendations and was given a place that has permanently closed. Not happy. Bad customer service and back to ground zero on planning for the family event. These are the very basics of customer service that were not met. I'm sure their food is good but I'm not inclined to ever do business with this establishment. read more

We are new to the area and were interested in steamed crabs, #1 Jimmy's for the 4th. We called to order that morning and placed our order. We picked up our crabs at 2:30 that afternoon. The staff were very pleasant and answered all of our questions regarding other selections. We have eaten steamed crabs all of our lives, living in Maryland, but we have to say these were the absolute best crabs we have had in a very long time. We popped in from a short trip in st Michaels. Found this place as third position of the top ten crabs shacks. Met the owners Renne and his worker Leroy. They cooked a 1-2 a bushel of #1 male crabs at the great price. These guys were super nice to out of Towners from NJ. Had to smell those freshly cooked crabs for 2 hrs on the ride home. . Ordered by phone -- 3 dozen no. 1s. When I go to pick up I see that the price for a 1/2 bushel is the same as 3 dozen (1/2 bushel is about 4 dozen at current sizes). Instead of telling me this on the phone, they took the opportunity to get a little extra cash from a customer that didn't know better. Will look for other sources of crabs in future. read more

Have a friend who works at the hospital and said that the locals go to Gay's. Its about 1.5 hrs drive for me but worth the time. Good excuse to explore Kent Island as well. Always great crabs at hard to believe prices, My wife was at Nicks in Baltimore and they were selling crabs for over $100 per dozen. Love going to Gays and looking at the crab boats coming in with their catch. Very special place. They take care of people who are polite and friendly. My wife is the best crab picker in 10 generations of her family of Marylanders and she says Gay's crabs - which she has only been having for the last 3 years - are the best she has ever had in her life! Whether I get them or she does, we have never been made to feel anything less than family when we walk through that screen door, which has been swinging on its hinges for over 100 years! The number ones were huge and amazingly full of meat. We all loved them and the bushel definitely didn't go to waste (even though we were all stuffed!) because we could not stop eating them they were so delicious. Just the right amount of Old Bay too.
