I cannot quite explain how badly this firm handled our situation…read more We hired this firm to assist with custody issues. Once we'd paid the retainer, it was very much like we no longer existed. Emails and phone calls would go unanswered for days, sometimes for weeks. When we finally did get ahold of them, they would not remember the details of our case. They repeatedly had to ask us to explain exactly what the issues were again. (And of course billing us each time for the explanation.) We would send advance documents for them to look over that went unread before the meeting. We would be told one thing at one meeting, and then the exact opposite the next time we talked. Finally we'd had enough and fired them. We asked for what was left of our retainer back. They said it would be in the mail that week. It took three weeks and two reminders for it to come. They also wrote the check incorrectly. These lawyers can't even write a check correctly. I asked around. Apparently this is a familiar story. It's hard to get their attention unless your case is "interesting." Avoid, avoid, avoid.

He couldn't be bothered to review the information I went to a lot of trouble to provide him and completely disregarded what I told him were my priorities. That's not to say he never worked hard. He worked hard to convince me to let go of things that were extremely important to me (like shared custody of the kids) because he told me they simply weren't going to happen. I realize now that he simply wasn't going to try. And he seemed to have a special gift for finding ways for me to spend extra thousands of dollars (like hiring a CPA to prepare a statement of my premarital net worth) which he then dismissed as useless. All that hard work must have tired him out because he needed to take a bunch of vacations. Most of which just happened to fall the week before some important hearing or deadline. We had one lovely little hearing together, prior to which my ex-wife's lawyer had presented three pages of arguments to the judge. I asked Bob to write up a response and even prepared notes with copies of corresponding evidence to show how each of the statements was demonstrably false. He told me he didn't feel like writing up a response. He said if I wanted one written I'd have to do it myself. Once we were in the hearing, he did nothing more than stand up and sit down when the judge entered and left. I could go on for pages, but you get the idea. My divorce couldn't have been more expensive or painful. You might be able to find a worse lawyer, but you'd probably have to be okay with spending a ton less.

He reassured me he had emailed me yesterday from our first initial conversation a week a go and deemed himself that should have sufficed in lieu of not returning any calls prior that week with my time sensitive issue. After I let him know of his poorly conducted attempt to contact me back he then let me know non of the attorney's were available or could take my case. His exact words were "no one is available until after the new year". I understand completely that the firm has many cases as they came highly recommended but as a smaller firm it should not take over a week to get a response from a schedule coordinator to let a possible future client that all the attorney's are unavailable until after New Years. Really?? After calling KYLE on his lack there of his demeanor completely changed and I asked to be re routed to the front desk. Instead of being professional he asked why and why did I need to talk to the receptionist. I let him know that I wasn't going to continue the conversation with him and would like to speak with the front desk. This is when he informed me that he was the Office Manager and anything that needed to be left with the front desk he could be made aware of.
