Terrible. Attorney was Laura Mancuso and she quit at the most crucial time in my divorce case after running up my bill to $30,000 with nothing to show for it but temporary spousal support. Let many things that needed to be addressed just fall through the cracks, missed deadlines, and likely cost me considerably on the potential sale of my home by letting the clock on motions that needed to be filed run out. Communication was about 50% on questions I had. Many were simply ignored. No discussion ever on an outline of what to expect or any type of strategy. The negative impact their "representation" has had on my case is likely irreparable. NOT recommended. *** UPDATE Since writing my review, I have discovered that the attorney, Laura Mancuso, has had other clients with the very similar complaints about her neglegence of their cases as I have. I am losing my house because of her. I have no representation because she took all my money and then quit. She makes promises and does not keep them. This woman has no business leading anyone to believe she will zealously represent them. Her incompetatence has caused irreprable damage to my case. She couldn't care less. Absolutely NOT recommended. I originally had Laura Mancuso as my attorney. I didn't know it at the time that I chose her, but she has "short timers" and left the firm after running up my bill and getting absolutely nothing done. After Laura left I was assigned to Alixanne Pinkerton. What a WASTE. Every single time we went to court for anything, Pinkerton lost. She's a mouse when what I needed was lion! The time that sticks out in my mind the most? I was owed over 200 hours of back visitation, and instead of the judge awarding me those hours and finding my ex in Contempt of Court, those hours were taken away and my visitation hours cut even more. The Contempt form says right on it that if visitation hours haven't been met then the person will be held in Contempt. Alixanne did nothing to fight this or any other issue that came up, and they continued to charge me ridiculous amounts of money. Almost $40,000 and absolutely NOTHING to show for it. I would NEVER recommend anyone at McKeanSmith for your legal needs. They're nothing but a rip off and continue to charge me almost $1000 a month in interest. I will be trying to find any and every way I can to file bankruptcy because they can stick their bill where the sun doesn't shine. I don't pay for services in which I don't get results, and all I got from McKeanSmith was heartache and bills. RUN FROM THIS LAW FIRM! They will do nothing but rip you off and lose your case while they're at it. read more

I retained Laura Mancuso in June 2020 in an attempted trust dispute. From missed meeting start times to a missed deadline vital to the case; from a letter sent to opposing counsel full of typos I'd already corrected once for her when her own spellcheck was "broken" (!) to, finally, dumping my case for "family crisis" when I was right in the middle of my own; my relationship with McKean Smith has been one grand exercise in purchasing very expensive stress. I gave Laura chance after chance ... to save face, then to save the case, then to help me find someone to take it over, and finally to avoid the flurry of reviews that are starting with this one, at 6 a.m. this morn. I feel for single mamas going through hard times, boy do I. I do not feel for someone taking money from this single mama (me) while making constant excuses for accomplishing for virtually nothing. I waited months for her to file subpoenas that she finally, finally filed (apparently her employee "didn't know" how to file a subpoena) - just before she dropped my case entirely. Incidentally, I also tried to employ Collin McKean, for my daughter's 2019 injuries. To his credit, Collin didn't charge me; he also told me to find all my own experts and effectively, like Laura, did nothing. In sum, McKean Smith is excellent at appearing they'll be worth the thousands of dollars they will immediately go to work extracting from you (one star for the view from the window of their waterfront office). I have been warned by there office if i go through with not paying and call the WA State Bar I will pay the whole balance or I could pay half the balance now and be done with them. When i payed up front 6000.00. The email they clearly wrote said the balance was to be wrote off. I would be charged 2622.12 on top of what i paid already and sent to collections. I have there email printed in hard copy. My whole case was like this. They told me one thing and got no results. I would have never hired them there just smooth talkers to there clients with no results. I had better results with my first lawyer i thought was bad because she was late to my hearings. Collin McKean represented me throughout a demanding, heavily-contested divorce case that culminated in a multi-day trial. My case was complex, involving multiple real properties, many accounts, heavily-commingled inherited funds, wasteful spending, pensions, and disagreements over employability and retirement status.
