As a person who deals with insurance companies and orders parts for customer's vehicles daily, Geico is amongst the worst. They do not honor their original, approved estimates for the repair shop or the customer. They continuously change estimates throughout the repair process in order to save the company money. So imaging getting an approved estimate for all original equipment parts: headlamps, bumpers, brackets etc. and after the parts has been ordered and installed, the estimate is changed to a used or aftermarket parts that now show to be available after the fact, and it is always a 50/50 that they chose the correct part. We have been with Geico auto insurance for sometime and they seemed acceptable, yes, our auto premiums did go up slightly every 6 months but remained competitive until recently, Geico artificially and blindly entered an illegitimate and unsubstantiated yearly mileage driven number without our personal knowledge, agreement, nor awareness which changed our vehicle classification and premium increased unjustly consequentially. Numerous attempts requiring substantial personal effort and time to resolving this unjustified conduct solely created by Geico with their associates (every one of them had a different answer) but ultimately did fail. Geico said that this "unjust higher" premium does need to be paid right now and they will review it again and perhaps a "prorated refund" be sent IF the premium adjusts itself in 90 days(?) Geico has the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I called just to get a copy of a document that was supposedly mailed to me, something that should've been simple. It wasn't available in my online account (of course), so I reached out to my adjuster, Alyson Taylor, who never returned a single call. I called the main number and was told she'd call me back. Nothing. Two weeks later, I tried again and was told a supervisor would reach out within 24 hours. Still nothing, even after three days. When I called yet again, all I got was another transfer and another rep who didn't help at all. If it's this hard to get a basic document, I can only imagine how awful it would be if I actually needed urgent help with a claim. Geico is unresponsive, unorganized, and completely incompetent. GEICO denied my PIP claim illegally -- I wasn't even a rideshare driver I was injured in a car accident in December 2024. At the time, I had simply tested a few food delivery runs on Uber Eats -- I'm not a full-time gig worker or rideshare driver. Despite this, GEICO denied my Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits, claiming I was engaged in "ridesharing," which was completely false and unsupported. They ignored my MRI scans, physician letters, and cut off medically necessary treatment for my dominant hand without any medical review or proper investigation. GEICO's actions violated multiple New Jersey laws: * N.J.S.A. 39:6A-4 - requires uninterrupted PIP coverage; * N.J.A.C. 11:3-4.7 - prohibits denial of treatment without physician review; * N.J.S.A. 17:29B-4(9) - bans unfair and bad-faith claim practices. They only reinstated coverage after I filed formal regulatory complaints and threatened legal action. I love Geico. I've had Geico home and vehicle insurance for about 26 years. (Home insurance 15 yrs). Prob because I'm accident free my whole life. Makes things easier. Pay attn to the road and those around you. Don't drive under the influence of whatever and put your damn phone down. Dang. Also since I used to commute an hour to work and back I had a lot of windshield replacements that Geico also helped take care of.. At one time however our rep, Karen, (yes, Karen) went missing for a couple days and we spoke to someone else who was even more helpful with questions on our claim. Turns out this clown totalled my daughter's SUV but The great thing is.... since we bought the SUV the market for it had sky rocketed! I was with Geico for over a decade, but they screwed it up. I will never do business with them again and will urge everyone else to stay away from this dishonest, unreliable company. Several years ago, I came out of shopping and noticed someone had scratched up my car. There was a line of fine scratches around the front quarter panel on the driver side. Looked like maybe someone scraped a shopping cart against it. I called Geico just to see what would be involved in filing a claim and whether I should do so. The damage wasn't SUPER noticeable, so I asked the woman if filing a claim might raise my rate. She said it could. I then asked if there would be any negative record of the event that could affect me in the future if I just didn't file a claim. She specifically assured me that if I didn't file a claim, nothing about the incident would ever affect me in any way. Fast forward a couple of years: Geico let my policy lapse without telling me that a payment was due on the account. I relied on them to let me know this. ANY time my policy was late in the past, they always texted me and emailed me to tell me. I always pay a full six months in advance, and would have paid it. but I never got any notification. I didn't realize my insurance had lapsed until I got a notice in the mail from the DMV asking me to prove insurance, because Geico had notified them my insurance had lapsed! Yikes. Well of course, I was upset with Geico for not warning me. They could have cost me a lot of money, and they had no explanation for why they didn't notify me. They just said sorry, nothing they could do about it. I tried to get insured again, but they wanted to charge me MORE money because I had lapsed, even though it was because they hadn't notified me, as they admitted. To add insult to injury, when I switched to Progressive, Progressive notified me that they had received a report from Geico about my claim that I NEVER FILED several years ago, and that they were going to charge me a higher rate because of this!!! This is even though Geico lied to me and told me that if I decided not to file a claim, it would never impact me in any way. If they had told me the truth, that a record of it was kept that they sent out to other insurance companies, I would of course have gone ahead and filed the claim. After that, I contacted Geico and told them if I was going to pay higher rates for it, I wanted to go ahead and file the claim. They REFUSED. They said the statute of limitations had expired. Well being a lawyer, I know that the statute of limitations simply means I can't sue them for the claim. It doesn't mean they can't pay it. They use the SOL as a cover so that they don't have to pay a valid claim. Of course what they don't realize is that by lying to me, they committed fraud, and fraud has a longer statute of limitations, so I may or may not still try to sue them for this. I do not know what is going on with geico. My family member was in a accident. They contacted us and gave no information. We had to call back, after 2 days, wait for over 30min. For customer service to answer. They said something was wrong. (Never said anything to us). We sent in all information along with accident info from the app. 360. They acted like we were not being honest and was making up the incident. I was very upset. Then that was straightened out. Then they called to get the car picked up and taken to the collision center. So, we received an alert that the tow person should be here to pick up the vehicle. No one had arrived to our location so, we called the tow company to see what happened. The tow person didn't have the correct information to come and pick up the car and was still at their shop. We had to give them the information to pick up the car. Then the tow company takes the car where the geico representative reported to have it repaired. Arrived at the repair place, the repair shop had no idea the car was coming. As if that is not enough, I was waiting to receive a confirmation to go and pick up a rental while our car was being repaired. Now, the tow insurance is not there. I said really!#@%$$ I have full coverage. I was just too through. You guys are the worst. When I first started this policy they changed my rates, and coverages and was charging me anything but my coverages remained the same. GEICO review (negative 5 stars) My wife and 2 small daughters (1 year old and 8 year old) were rear ended by a geico insured on March 28th 2019. The accident involved 3 vehicles, and the geico insured was found 100% at fault (my wife's car was the first car at a traffic light that was struck by a van that was struck by the geico customer). My children were not injured, however my wife suffered a neck and back injury which resulted in 19 doctor visits over 3 months time, and still now has flare-up pain 6 months later. Following the accident there were many many days that my wife (a stay-at-home mom) was unable to even pick up our baby to comfort her when she needed her mom or even breastfeed her. From day one, my wife was unable and unwilling to take pain pills due to the fear of the effects to our breastfed baby. This whole situation has been terrible, and has been further irritated by Geico adjusters devaluing our claim and laughing (literally laughing) at our request for compensation. We are still trying to settle on the personal injury (North Carolina is an "at-fault" state which means the at-fault party is obligated by law to pay "pain & suffering"). They act as if they (the adjuster) are doing us some huge favor by even paying our claim (reminder...this was not our fault, my wife was just sitting at a traffic light when a negligent geico customer stuck her). They have offered us only a fraction of what 3 other insurance agents have said that they "should" pay. Every resource I can find that gives advice on valuing "pain & suffering" tells me that they are taking advantage of us. The amount they are offering does not even cover the time and fuel spent traviling back and forth from the doctor visits. Meanwhile I am out of pocket for a portion of the doctor bills, time, fuel, and lots of frustration while I attempt to negotiate with this company. I share all this with you so that you may know what it's like to file a claim with this company. You may save a few bucks on premiums, but it will cost you if you ever file a claim. The first time I should have left Geico for good was when they sent me a very high bill. When I asked about it, they said it was for a DUI. I told them I never had a DUI, ticket or accident, they said I would have to work that out with the DMV. Took time off work to go to the DMV, and DMV tells me I do not have anything like that on my record. They also tell me Geico messes people up like this often. I call Geico back and they say, sorry we got you mixed up with someone else. My last experience, I call to cancel my policy which I had already paid in full. The agent tells me my account is up to date, nothing owed. However, after my cancel date I get a bill for 10.95. Not a big amount, but I call and ask why. Agent (Jason) tells me it's because my wife had passed away and they had raised my rates because I was now a widower. I asked to speak to a supervisor which I was denied, agent telling me they will say the same thing. I then went on to Twitter to air my grievance. Geico says on Twitter they want to work this out and will contact me. I never hear from them. I reported my experience to the Widower's Network on Facebook, which is 2000 plus strong and growing (which is unfortunate). Got much feedback and was glad I was able to warn so many others of Geico's predatory business practices towards widowed men. In fairness, if Geico ever rectified the situation, I would report that as well to the group. An action I have little faith that such a company would do. I called and another agent told me she couldn't find all the info I gave the first agent but she would call me the next day to start a new quote. She did not. I found out she went home instead. This is only the second one-star review I have written -- ever. Last October, when my rental insurance was up for renewal, I noticed my premium had increased from 75 to 100 dollars. When I called the insurance agent for an explanation, I was informed that the company had increased its minimum policy to 100 dollars, regardless of the coverage levels. I agreed to the increase but asked that my coverage limits be increased to levels commensurate with the 100 dollar premium. The agent, Megi, increased the coverage levels and stated that my new premium would be 101 dollars. I gave Megi my credit card number, and she e-mailed the paid-in-full receipt. She said that I would receive an invoice in the mail that would be off by a few dollars, and that I should ignore it. A few days later, I received an invoice for a premium of 107 dollars from "Stillwater Insurance." I remembered Megi's instructions to ignore the invoice. I even sent her an e-mail to confirm. However, five months later, I received a new invoice, stating that I now owed an "installment" payment of 11 dollars, payable in two days. Currently, the company is not reachable by phone, and its website "does not recognize" my policy number. I had been considering switching my other policy to Geico, but from this experience I will try to avoid doing business with Geico or Stillwater in the future. read more

Of course it is all cryptic and no average joe understand it. I am freaking thinking something is wrong with my credit. I pull all the reports and review then (annualcreditreport.com) I found no issues ...no late payments and a credit score of 796 of 850 (creditkarma.com) So I am confused on what voodoo is used to claim I am an insurance risk who should pay more. I have had Geico for over 5 years now and unfortunately recently involved in accident. Someone hit my vehicle over a month ago and no response from claims adjuster for weeks. I reported the claim immediately and literally heard nothing back until I called them. I was told they denied my claim because both statements "could" indicate the other was at fault. I asked the claims adjuster why have no one been out to assess the damages to my vehicle and mathematically determine who was at fault by the way my car was hit. She stated GEICO does not assess damages unless they are paying for them. I asked how would you determine who is at fault without ever seeing the vehicle. I would like to switch to another insurance company, that actually takes the time to make sure they are using every possible method to determine faults of accidents. I got rear-ended. I processed the claim through Geico (my insurance) thinking the service will better, faster and that I will be able to recover my money easier from the responsible party insurance. Ms. Schmitt H. didn't provide a decent service. She actually seemed annoyed and have not been helpful at all. She definitely put the effort to recover Geico's money but not mine. She didn't answered any of my emails. The red tape is absurd; when I asked to provide the information to contact the responsible party's insurance about this claim, she told me have to write a letter, get approval from her supervisor and then send me the letter. After two weeks, I still waiter for the letter that should be a 5 mins email. There is also no support to follow up with the other insurance until I get my money. At first I was pleased with the processing of my claim and how quickly things were moving along, until the adjuster stopped communicating with me about the status of my vehicle. I can't believe the non communication with the adjuster, adjuster manager and finally the director of the adjusters. I have left more than three voicemails with all, but nobody has responded. Shady Geico is at it again. So I have been a Geico insurance customer for several years now and have a multiple car and home insurance policy through them. They've been decent until yesterday. I received a letter in the mail stating they assume I have $15,000+ in modifications on my 03 Ford Lightning and that as of 8/1/17(when my policy renews) they are no longer going to cover it. They mention that they do not accept mods like engine work, non original paint, suspension work etc. First off, my truck had aftermarket wheels, radio, and exhaust. No way were they able to check out the truck enough to come up with a claim I had over 15k in mods. I had ZERO engine modifications and ORIGINAL PAINT. I will tell you it's nice they pulled a shady move like this and reminded me my policy renews next month. Bye bye Geico. And I will share this on all social media auto sites I belong to. read more
