I wish I could give negative stars…read more I went to Marrs Maddocks and Associates on a referral from my ProVisors business group thinking that I would get decent service. I needed a Business Liability policy and an Errors and Ommissions (E&O) policy for my business. Although the rate wasn't the best I went with them because I trusted the referral source. It wasn't until I actually had a claim that I realized what a mistake I had made. My small business experienced a power surge in the building that wiped out all of our electronic equipment in a matter of seconds. It was determined that the surge was due to a adjoining space but my lease stated that the landlord wasn't responsible so I contacted my rep at MM&A. It took me 2 days to get a response and instead of walking me through the process, I was passed off to some 1-800 number and ended up having to handle the entire claim without any assistance from MM&A at all. It took 5 weeks to resolve the issue, and I lost close to $30,000 in revenues and wages due to the shut down. In fact, I had to come out of pocket for all replacements and only was reimbursed 80% of those costs. I ended up shutting the company down in June of 2015 and asked that my policies be cancelled. I was assured that they would be but continued to receive billing through July, at which time I demanded cancellation. Today is October 29th, 2015 and I got an email saying that my refund check was available to pick up, made out to the former company. I asked that they change the name to me personally as I had closed all of the business accounts to be in compliance with my state regulatory agency 2 weeks prior. Therefore I had no way of cashing the check. To me, this was a simple request and most customer service oriented companies would have taken care of it. NOT MARRS MADDOCKS. I went the their Carlsbad office and met the owners, who were uninterested in my situation and told me that I had to handle it directly with the insurance company. To make a really long story short, MM&A may be great when you BUY insurance but they suck when you actually NEED it. If you have a claim, be prepared to quit your day job to handle the process because MM&A will leave you out to dry.

When I noticed my premiums kept rising each 6 months and Steven refused to take my calls or emails(no accidents or tickets on my driving record during that time), I began to question their business practices. I got a quote from Geico which was $600 cheaper annually. Upon cancelling service they hit me with a cancellation service as well of $50. Funny, but I thought when you prepay insurance 6 months in advance, you don't owe anymore when you leave. Apparently not the case. You can find better insurance rates and customer service elsewhere. Don't get ripped off.

They collect money, and don't provide any connection to then insurance policy number. Complaints have been submitted to the Better Business Bureau, California Department of Insurance, and Department of Managed Healthcare. Attached are pictures to show that what's occured to me is truthful and legitimate. However this company in my opinion is not legit. If considering using this company, save yourself And do not. You won't be able to use their services.

When I change cars they take care of everything for me over the phone. I think I've been to the office twice in all the years I've been a client. True, I've never met Greg. So what. I had a head on collision on the freeway by a hit and run driver. My car was totaled. I was fortunate that nothing happened to me because I spun it around to avoid hitting another driver and hit the center divide on the freeway head on so hard both airbags deployed, even though I was alone in the car. Someone from the office came to my home two days later with a check after they payed off the remaining loan on my vehicle. So yes, I haven't met Greg in person. Whenever I've needed assistance though, someone has always taken care of me. Whether it's with a new windshield or answering a question about my policy. I know people who change insurance every year trying to get the best deal out there. I'm not sure how well this works for them. I've had other companies try to sell me "cheaper" insurance and none have been able to match the discounts I get with Statefarm. You guys can keep your newest deals, I'll keep on truckin' with my familiar agent. I like to keep some things just the way they've always been..

Lori acted as a (commission-based) broker. What I appreciated about this company was that they were one of two (out of 6) companies who replied to my email soliciting for a quote. The second one (farmer's) replied one week later whereas Lori responded the next day. I believe insurance companies place priority over phone solicitations, as the process is more personal and likely to generate leads. Lori was always quick to reply through email (twice in one day), and provided a document summarizing differences between limited and comprehensive earthquake coverage. On the phone, she was a sweet person who was friendly and humorous. As for my policy, we got got our 1700SF two story single-detached-house, Lori secured a quote from universal for 798$/yr for policy that: 350k replacement coverage 300k liability 1k deductible from universal. I also did an independent comparison to verify competitive pricing. Amica gave a quote for 800$.

Absolutely ZERO loyalty!!…read more I have been with AAA for Auto Insurance for over almost 40 years. I've had them for Home Insurance for 20+ years. I've paid every premium on time. I made one claim in 2007. And they dropped me like a rock for home insurance on August 1st because of my ZIP Code. There is absolutely no loyalty. You are only a means to a financial gain to them. They don't care one iota how loyal you've been to them. And then they had the audacity to contact me if I wanted Earthquake Insurance a week after dropping my Home Insurance. You might pay your premiums, you might RARELY make a claim (if ever), you might have a loyalty card that says 88 year member if you signed up under your parents, and they signed up under their parents - but it won't matter for a second if you don't fit into their financial equation of how to profit. You are 100% there to benefit them, not the other way around. So don't pay their steep prices, and don't fool yourself into thinking you have a "relationship" with them, because all you have is money they want.
