Jason Berkowitz is incredibly unfit to be a customer service representative and has completely ruined GEICO's reputation for me. I can confidently say that he has brought GEICO shame, and it is because of his unacceptable behavior and severe lack of service that I plan to leave GEICO after four years of being a customer. As someone who has worked with customers face on, I have an understanding and appreciation for customer service representatives. I understand the perils and the difficulty that they may face working with customers, and I do sympathize. However, my experience with Jason was downright repulsive from the beginning. Straight off the bat, I was never notified of the repair process, and I was never updated with the progress in the initial week that my car was being fixed. Literally the only communication we had was a couple of sentences when I dropped off my car, and when I initially first tried picking up my car. During my first attempt at picking up my car, I walked in along with another customer whom was a Caucasian male. He was seen first, and I understand that since he was physically in the building before I was. However, when they were finished, I was literally left standing there WAITING to be ACKNOWLEDGED. I suspect that because I am an Asian female, the level of customer service was not there, and I also believe that is why this fiasco is still going on TIL THIS DAY! (It's been almost TWO MONTHS now and this ordeal still hasn't been completely resolved!) Nobody explained to me WHAT was done to my car NOR did they even SHOW ME what was done on my car. I find it unacceptable that Jason nor the body shop representative did not go through ANY of the paperwork, NOR did Jason speak to me aside from the fact that he apologized for being sick. His lack of communication was distasteful and it came off as rude. Carly L. was incredibly sweet with setting up my claim via telephone, and Branden C. was helpful and responsive as well, so I had the same level of expectation for Jason. I expected that he would be my point of contact during this whole ordeal, but he was NOT PRESENT, and in total I had accumulated less than 5 minutes of talk time with him. I ended up having to go back and forth with Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet, because the dealership was attempting to return my car with more damage than it previously had. (Long story short, there was a huge storm in San Diego and the dealership ended up LOSING MY FRONT LICENSE PLATE, and things probably flew into my car causing chipped paint in massive areas.) I called Jason one last time to try to see if he could be of any help, but he actually ended up OFFENDING ME!! I have never been SO DISRESPECTED in my life, because when you're speaking to a customer, you nor the agent should NOT be trying to out-shout each other. Jason was on the defense and he was saying that I would have to file ANOTHER claim for the damages, and I disagreed because this original claim was not settled. To add more insult to injury, Jason then went on to say that he would have to review the entire history of my GEICO account to make sure that the damages weren't already there. I told him to go ahead and review my account because I knew for a fact that Jason would not be able to find the damages. I find it APPALLING that Jason questioned the validity of my claim, and it was because of my last conversation with Jason that I will NEVER be a GEICO customer again, and I will FULLY publicize my horrific experience with GEICO on all of your social media accounts, I will be contacting your corporate office, and I will fully air this to my extended friends, family, and anybody that I know. What should have taken ONE WEEK, took ONE MONTH, and its been two and a half weeks since I've received my car back but I am STILL facing issues with my claim!! Enterprise, the car rental company that I was directed to use during the additional 3 weeks that my car "was being worked on" ended up charging me nearly $400 when the dealership should have covered the total cost of the rental!!!! I highly recommend that Jason receive another customer service training session, and for potential customers to turn to another insurance company whom will treat you with respect. read more

My insurance increased of $600 from $277 to $901 cause I moved back to California from Hawaii. They told me I filed a claim to replaced my bumper in Hawaii due to ( hit a post while backing). I've been a Geico since I can remember, but they penalized you when you file a claim. Time to move on and look for better insurance company that don't penalize you when you file a claim. read more

I called them to get quotes for 2 vehicles, 3 properties and an umbrella policy. They informed me that I would have to be transferred to 4 different departments in order to get separate quotes - property, car, motorcycle, and umbrella. After an hour of being transferred around and being asked endless questions of the most trivial type and detail, I still had only rec'd 2 quotes before I finally gave up. The two quotes I rec'd were not particularly competitive either. What a complete waste of time it was calling these people. Beyond frustrating. Theirs is a completely inefficient and self-serving approach to customer service. read more

You have to go through the automated system, which gives you the run around and when you finally get through the system to a live person, they aren't helpful and tell you to go online to get your information. Beware!!! GEICO's 15% discount will be charged back to you if your car is totaled. That is what is happening to me. GEICO's valuation team mixes base models with my limited model and includes way over mileage vehicles to keep the valuation low. This company needs to train in professional customer service and definitely learn to communicate to the customers when there is a claim against them. When I asked for the corporate office phone number, I was told to call 1-800-841-8000, which is their customer service line. I was told by Ethan, that the corporate office is in the claims department. Wow! I am not as stupid as they think. To top it off, a supervisor from the claims department called, talked about the claim, tried to degrade me, insinuating , that I am a bad driver! Clearly I am not with a 100% on my driving test written and driven. FYI geico does not communicate , they treat you like a number and could care less about you as a timely paying customer. ONCE AGAIN Geico has screwed me over..I was left stranded with my 2 children late at night in Magic Mountain parking lot. Geico could not get a tow or a locksmith to me at all. Told me to send in receipts for what I needed to do to get to safety. Now I call to get info on where to send the receipt for my Uber and car rental and they say OH SORRY only a tow or locksmith will be reimbursed. I am leaving Geico the day my insurance policy is over ( I already paid thru end of policy)..btw, I have been with Geico for years and I put in a claim for a tiny fender bender, less than 1k and they raised my rate. Geico has been the worst experience of my life. Their customer service approach is " Let me send you to another department". I don't understand how they have so many departments that don't understand what exactly the "other department" can and can't help the customer with in solving issues. Also and I quote from the phone call "Never try to avoid an accident, always slam on your breaks and allow the car behind you to drive into your rear end." I have had the absolute worst experience with geico. My damage adjuster "Huy Dang" has been terrible. From the beginning he has ran me around in circles. I totaled my car and needed geico to pay it off since I had full coverage and gap insurance so it should be no problem. Mr Dang originally told me he needed to go inspect the car to make sure it's a total loss so I needed to get all the paperwork completed for the tow yard. I did that, just for Mr Dang to then tell me that he only works remotely and can't go up there. So I asked him what to do since he's an inspector what does he do if he can't go in person and what do I do because I need my car to be verified for "total loss". He tells me if I have pictures of the car then he can do it that way, but I always had pictures and he never gave me that option before? If we would have done that from the beginning this would have been done way faster. So I submit the pictures to him, he of course takes days to respond because that's always how he has been. Come to find out the car had been moved several times to new tow yard because it was there too long. So now I have repo fees and towing fees that geico is supposed to handle for me. But Mr Dang said it would take a week or 2 for the check to get sent to the tow yard for them to get it and capital one needed it sooner otherwise they were going to put on my card that it was a repo because capital one is the one that had to tow the car so being in the original tow yard for so long. So I decided to pay the fees upfront myself and have geico send me the check in the mail. Everything is paid now and Mr Dang goes days and weeks taking so long to do this, after almost a month he tells me the car is good to go now and they are going to pick it up, me and him both call the tow yard to make sure everything is good and the lady tells us yes. More days pass and I ask him what is going on why isn't the car picked up, he tells me that the tow yard is now saying they need some paperwork to release the car, even though they just told us it's okay and Mr Dang is saying he doesn't know what the paperwork is. So I myself call the tow yard to figure it out even though that's his job, she tells me the only "paperwork" she needs is the towing company that is coming to get the car for me to email her an appointment day and time along with their ID, which is understandable. I called back Mr Dang and explained to him what "paperwork" it was and he said yeah I know I just called. But why didn't he call days ago to figure it out? Also how did he not know what kind of paperwork it is, I called and found out within minutes, very easy task. So now over a month has passed and it's been 31+ days and capital one has now put on my credit report a "repossession" due to the car being in the tow yard for so long and not getting paid off and completed in a timely manner. Huy Dang, who is a my Geico auto adjuster has destroyed my credit and put me through hell to get this situation taken care of. I take complete responsibility for my car accident, but as my insurance company you should help me fix it since that's all you're there for. On top of that I reached out to Geico directly and they told me they can't do anything expect transfer me to Mr Dang. Although he works for them and I'm telling them he's not helping me. Not to mention throughout this whole month, Mr Dang never answers phone calls or text messages for days at a time, despite how many voicemails I leave him. He also told me that if we can't get the car out of the tow yard(which makes no sense cause it's there and ready they just need an appointment from the towing company that's going to come get it), that I'll then be given the car back to me and Geico won't pay anything off on the car or do anything and I'll just be stuck with it. Even though I have full coverage and gap insurance and the car is very low in miles so it's not an older beat up car, unbelievable. It's safe to say Geico has great coverage and policies but terrible auto adjusters and they do not help you even if you call and tell them the people that work for them aren't doing anything. I am now fighting to get this "repo" off my credit. On top of that I have lost my job, my car, I'm injured with a fractured neck and can barely walk, and temporarily lost my license. Despite having these injuries I still took ubers and got transportation to get all the paperwork and everything done just so it was easier for him even though I was supposed to be at home resting, but that didn't help at all. read more

Geico is perhaps the most over rated & unreadable insurance company I have ever dealt with. First let me let me state that since 2013 I have had 5 minor accident's & I am on my wife's insurance policy as an additional driver. OK fine I can accept & understand. In August of 2016 we relocated to TX from San Diego. When my wife called to advise them of the change of address we discovered, much to our surprise, that our premiums had gone from $144.00 monthly to over $400.00. Asking way, we were advised that the 2 hit & runs that happened on our 2015 BMW were being taken into consideration ( even police reports). Apparently insurance companies have the option of raising your rates even on hit & runs. In my particular situation I was not even in the car ( they were parked). This didn't matter to them. I requested that they send me breakdown as to how they were reported. I was told they would. This was never received ( another lie). I have since managed to obtain insurance but I am writing this to let others beware of the marginal business practices. USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK! read more

I was in an accident last week where I was rear-ended by someone who had Geico Insurance. The driver admitted fault, and was even on her cell phone during the accident. I suffered a whiplash injury and ask for compensation for my doctor's visits. Nothing more. Geico wouldn't even investigate the claim. They said I could be lying about the injury and expecting them to pay for it. They didn't even ask for medical records! The representative I talked to was very helpful and said I can take my car anywhere for repairs and mentioned Caliber Collision. I went their and was met by an agent from Geico who had a rental car waiting for me and said all repairs would be done to my satisfaction and they quickly were. No complaints from me, I'm happy with the way they took care of it (and I use State Farm for my insurance). read more

I recently switched my auto insurance because I called in to get a quote and the geico representative gave me a quote that was cheaper than what I was paying at Progressive. The representative told me that my driving record was clean and that I was being given the best rate because of that. So I PAID IN FULL. Then 2 days later they sent me an email saying that they updated my policy and I owe $120 more dollars because of a speeding ticket that I have 4 years ago that they didn't see. The representative also told me that speeding tickets only affect your premium for 3 years, and the speeding ticket was clearly 4 years ago. after countless people telling me that there was "nothing they could do and it didn't matter who I talked to" I finally got on the phone with a supervisor. the supervisor then told me they have had the right to chance my policy for up to 90 days!???! 1. I was told that my driving record was clean. 2. I was never informed that they have 90 days to do whatever they want with my policy. 3. I was told that speeding tickets only affect your premium for 3 years. Geico lied to me, gave me a false quote, and then charged me more after I had already paid in full. the only reason I switched to them was because they were $100 cheaper than pregressive. So now I'm forced to either pay the $120 that they so conveniently decided that I owe them, which technically $20 more expensive than what I was paying with progressive, or cancel and pay a cancelation fee. This claim has been a nightmare, I have been unable to access my claim number, they keep telling me they'll email it, I've provided an updated email address and still nothing not even in my junk email. You can never get ahold of anyone when you need them, and now I got a call from the rental car company and they have all the incorrect information, and of course my adjuster isn't in. I've been an eight year customer with Geico with nothing more than a windshield repair. The service I received from Geico after filing a claim against another Geico Insured for vandalizing my car was very unsatisfactory & disappointing. The other insured lied about the actual facts & because I wasn't quick enough to think to get the incident videotaped, my liability claim against the other insured was denied. I have since found a much better insurance company that costs about $50 less every 6 months with higher coverage. Never turning back! read more

These people insisted that our DEALERSHIP!!!! use aftermarket parts to fix our car...fortunately our dealership refused and was able to price match all but one part...Geico was OUR carrier and the other party admitted 100% liability for the accident and they still insisted on this!!! I buy insurance for piece of mind. Geico does not offer this. I had to drive over eight miles to their adjuster center that was located in a warehouse district. The adjuster was rude and told me he was going to issue me a denial letter because my repair shop charged too much. California state law says you have the right to have repairs done at any shop. I am leaving Geico immediately. I will pay more if I have to in order to get away from these cheap people. read more

I wish there was a star that is less than 1. GEICO and the fraudulent staff like Jeannie Higbee, Desire Clapp, Nalini Koch and Mitchell all deserve zero star. My car was hit sideline by another driver who is also insured by Geico on March 17, 2017. The issue was presenred to GEICO and I was told I am 35% liable. I explained to GEICO that it is not only impossible but also ridiculous to say that I am 35% liable. After, much talk and further investigation, Mitchell told me that he personally believe, I was right, however, because I share the same insurance with the culprit, Geico has no choice than to make the decision that might not favor me. I talked with Jeannie Higbee, she said acording to my statement during the phone investigation, I claimed I was wronged. I asked her to send me the recording unadulterated, she said she will and behold, it's been two months plus , I am yet to get the recording from her and from GEICO. I have all my conversation recorded just in case GEICO wants to prove otherwise. My unreserved advice to anyone is be very wary of GEICO especially the staffs sitting in the San Diego office- Desiree Clapp, Jeannie Higbee, Nalini Koch and Mitchell. I have been with Geico for several years. I pay my premiums in a lump sum every 6 months. We're two adults well over 50, both cars are now over 6 years old. There are no tickets, no accidents, no dui's, no claims and our rates continue to climb every time we get our premiums. Our current rate is $775 every 6 months. I contacted a few other companies and I'm getting quotes of $540 to $575 every 6 months. So, I figure I'll call Geico with this info to see why they aren't in the same ballpark even though we've been with them for a long time. The rep I spoke with at Geico, Mitchell M. was nice enough and I know he was only doing his job, but I was quite surprised by his responses. I told him, when I shop around, I shop apples to apples, so when I was getting these quotes from other companies, it's based on exactly the same coverage we currently have. He first asked if the other companies have "accident forgiveness". Now, while I do agree, that's nice to have should you have a fender bender, we've had no accidents and no claims (knock on wood), so I didn't feel that was a valid response. He then asked if I was employed. I told him I was, so he suggested that maybe I should drop the $5000 medical payments I carry with their company. Now, if I'm shopping apples to apples, whey should I need to drop something to remain with their company? And, is my rate going to drop $200 every 6 months by doing so? I then advised him the only difference that may have an impact is that the two of us that have been on the policy from day one did get married this year. We've been together over 10 years, but we are just now getting married. His response was that may make a huge difference! So, I got excited. We all know from when we were younger that it's more expensive to insure a boy, than it is a girl, for whatever reason. I'm here to tell you, I was floored when he came back to advise me our rate would go up $37 every six months because we got married!!!! Now remember from the beginning....we're BOTH well over 50 years old! We BOTH have been on the policy from day one with this company! That was the last straw for me.
