!!!Terrible Experience - BUYER BEWARE!!! Avoid This Salon. !!! I recently visited this nail salon with my daughter for what was supposed to be a particular day, but it turned into a complete disappointment. Our pedicures and her manicure could have been done better, with uneven nails, streaky polish on our skin around the nail, and a generally sloppy finish. When I requested a refund, the owner refused, insisting on fixing them instead. However, I explained that the first impression was already ruined, and we were unwilling to give them a second chance. Manicures and pedicures are expensive, and we expected a professional experience, especially on a day that was meant to be special. Instead, we left feeling regret and frustration. To add insult to injury, the salon was dirty and unsanitary. While we were sitting under the dryer, an employee pulled out a vacuum and started vacuuming around our feet and the salon. When I caught his eye, I noticed his pupils were dilated, and he had a permanent grin on his face--he was clearly under the influence of something, a shocking and unprofessional behavior. The lack of concern for customers and the poor service were appalling. It's clear this salon is struggling, but that doesn't excuse the complete disregard for customer satisfaction or cleanliness. This place is absolutely horrible. It's completely filthy everywhere, I have so many cuts on my fingers. After my pedi he started my manicure and used an air compressor to blow the dust off himself - ALL OVER MY WET nail polish on my toes! My gel on my fingers immediately started breaking and peeling. I asked him to cut them shorter and he acted like he cut them but literally just maybe snipped the edge off. I will never come here again. Gel Nail is the salon I typically prefer when I'm looking for a walk-in nail service in the Youngstown area. The majority of the time I go to this salon, I walk out with a beautiful set of nails. I will say that there are times that a newer tech will come in and the experience will vary. Gel Nail will touch up chips if they occur within a few days of the service, so I keep that in mind. Generally the new techs improve quickly at this location and the second or third time I've gotten a service, I haven't had any issues. As a customer I'd be mindful of writing off a tech because of one bad experience during their first month or two working. I usually go to their other location, Sun Nail, but the last several times I've gone I've been sent to Gel Nail instead because they couldn't fit me in. Last week I was actually able to get into the Sun Nail location. Unfortunately for me, my acrylic w/gel manicure was done by a girl who was there on her first day. She said she had over a year experience, so I was fine with that. Unfortunately, she did a terrible job. They were different sizes and shapes and the depth of the color varied. I didn't complain because it was her first day and I tipped her well. Today is literally one week since I had them done and one of the nails split right in half. I didn't hit it on anything. I woke up, and half of it was gone. I stopped there and they didn't have time to help me. I stopped at the other location and was told it would be a few minutes. After waiting 20, I left. When I got my nails done for my wedding and requested a French manicure, the owner insisted on doing an ombre with powder instead, telling me that French was old. They looked awful and I got them re-done the following week because I couldn't stand looking at them. They are in my wedding photos, though. So I'll always have that memory. I was in town visiting my parents and my mother and I decided to get a gel manicure and pedi done at this salon. We told them that we wanted the basic mani/pedi (as defined by the price list), but they ended up upgrading us. We didn't realize this until we were checking out and the prices were much higher than what they originally quoted. The technicians did not speak much English, or at least they did not seem to. Our two technicians chatted with each other in their own language the entire time and basically ignored my mother and me. This happens to some extent in many nail salons, but it was much worse here than what I've experienced elsewhere. It was a bit of a turnoff. My gel manicure didn't even last a week before chipping. If I lived in Ohio, I would have gone back and requested a refund. The quality of service was not worth the price. read more

I was in town for only the weekend and was ready to get my nails done. I am used to the gel polish and this is not the service they provide. I do not have fake nails and I had to tell them twice that I did not want them. After I told him that I wanted my nails even with my fingertip (I can't really be mad because no one seems to understand what I mean by this) and I ended up with no length to my nails whatsoever. He trimmed one and ask what I thought and I said it was good...THEN HE CLIPPED IT MORE!! AHH! They will grow it's not the end of the world. The next step is when I realized I wasn't getting the same process as I was used to. It's still gel nails but this was some serious stuff. I wasn't warned that this stuff burns your nails. They put the gel on your nails and it had to cure in the heat lamps...that is the part that burns. No warning so here it is...take your fingers out and blow on them to make them feel better. When I complained about the burning I was told, "burning is normal" No. Not in any situation is burning ever normal. They claim that this process lasts even longer. Time will tell...not sure it's worth the pain or price ($40). The price didn't include anything typically related to a manicure like trimming cuticles and lotion. Nails only. Worst place I have EVER been. I called ahead and asked if they had available walk ins .. I was told yes and walked over (I was next door getting my hair done). I was sat by a man who began my nails. After applying one plastic tip, he gets up and leaves. His shift was over. A new lady comes and sits down, picking up where he left off. She refuses to even ATTEMPT a simply French tip on stiletto nails. She spoke to me like I was a moron and continuously tried to talk me out of getting the acrylic nails (I assume because they are more work on her part). She finished applying the plastic tips and then informs me that her next appointment is here and she'll finish mine after hers. I've been sitting in this waiting chair with stupid plastic tips glued to my nails for 25 minutes. I also informed them when I came in that I have a wedding to go to. So rude, and unaccommodating. Stopped in here for the first time last Friday 10/5. I usually go to a couple of other places in Boardman but this was convenient at the time. Service itself was fine. HOWEVER, when you pay $90 for a gel manicure and regular pedicure you expect it to last. Two of my toenails, that normally last 4-6 weeks in between pedicures, have severely chipped polish after 4 days. My gel fingernails, that usually last 3 weeks, have all peeled off and/or chipped after 4 days. By the time the tech started on me I was uncomfortable from the water turning cold from waiting so long. He rushed thru the whole thing. Ended up cutting me as he rushed during filing. Was willing and did wait for over an hour to get a fill and my little daughters nails painted; however, after an hour when I was about to be seated with Tim, the owner, he went away for a few moments. Many people had come in and he had told them he did not have time to take them. When he walked away, my eight-year-old started to cry because I was getting my nails done first so I politely asked him if the two of us could still get our nails done and he yelled across the salon about having appointments before me. I said I was absolutely fine with that but would have appreciated knowing that an hour prior when we asked for a fill and paint when we signed up, but if he was too busy we could run up the road. He responded very rudely and in an irritated voice and said "then go up the road." This was not the first time I have been there and I have sent more than a few people to him because I do get people asking me where I get my nails done. I have always said nice things about the way he does nails; however, I would never recommend this place for his lack of respect for his customer, for his rude behavior, for his lack of integrity in front of a child as well, and I don't know if he is understaffed or overworked, but at any rate, I was completely disappointed in his behavior. I am beyond disappointed and honestly pissed at this point. I came in the day before Thanksgiving to get my nails done for a wedding that I WAS IN. I asked for the gel dip/ manicure. First of all, she did nothing with my cuticles. They are overgrown, the nails look like they are 3 weeks old. It looks like stick on nails. I had to work on Thanksgiving and drive straight to Indiana that Friday. So there was no possible way I could redo my nails. The wedding was Saturday morning. I spent the entire day driving on Friday. I called the owner asking for a refund, and he wouldn't do it. I was told to come back on Friday, but explained my situation. He told me to come back on Monday, which totally defeats the purpose of me getting my nails done in the first place. Within a few hours of work on Thursday, they were already chipping. I've never done a bad review but felt this was needed. I'm in the service industry and I know how terrible people can be.
