This gelato place put a crimp in the celebratory mood I brought to it by not offering any mint flavors among their rotating menu. Heck, they didn't have anything that was really in my wheelhouse. Fresh, authentic, hand-made featuring seasonal & creative flavours (think cardamom, kulfi, or sweet corn or black seasame). Gerry's is the best in town! Salted caramel is my pick. But seasonal specialties never disappoint. And you will get a kick out of the more "out-there" flavours. Rumours of Easter-time Hot Cross Bun flavour are absolutely true. And, this is real gelato, made the traditional way - not from a mix supplied by a commercial vendor. I love the set-up they have in-store with the traditional storage / serving station and specially-imported traditional machines for crafting their creamy dessert delights. There may be truth to the rumour that upon hearing there was a hot cross bun flavoured gelato that I made sure I was at Gelateria Cremona when they opened. I can neither confirm or deny this. What I can confirm is that their hot cross bun flavour (an Easter only treat) is delicious as are all their other rotating flavours. They're known for their inventive flavours and I'm looking forward to trying their Anzac Biscuit flavour in a few weeks. Very rarely do I find myself craving ice cream of any kind, but when I do, I never want anything boring. Gelateria Cremona is a great little outlet in Rosalie with an authentic vibe and some great desserts. Contrary to your standard ice creameries, that go hard in sugar and chocolate chunks, the gelateria showcases a wide range of inspired flavours. The rotating roster has included some favourites like banana and cinnamon, biscotti, Anzac biscuit, and my favourite, salted chocolate with almond and caramel. The ice creams (or gelati - I'm sure there's some difference that I'm not sure about), come in different sizes, from take home packs to small sample sized tubs. For the proper experience though, I reckon you can't go past the waffle cone. They also have a good variety of fruit sorbets for those that put away too much dinner beforehand, but I've never managed to be swayed from the creamier options. I would drive many miles to eat this gelati but thankfully it is just down the road from me. I have to restrain myself from going there all the time otherwise I would burn a hole in my pocket. What makes this place so special is their unique falvours which are usually in theme with the current holidays/events such as 'Xmas pudding' for Christmas, 'Rose' for mothers day and so forth. Some of the flavours I've had here include 'Earl Grey', 'Orange and Date' and 'Baci chocolate'. If you are unsure what flavour to get, don't worry the staff are used to it and are more than willing to give you a sample to help you out. I'm not going to lie. I taste a socially inappropriate amount of flavours before committing to a gelato. And bless Gelateria Cremona's heart for never giving me grief over it, even if the cue is out the door and halfway to the NSW border (and for good reason might I add). The interesting flavors are really where this gelateria shines. Among the usual suspects (done extremely well by the way), keep an eye out for seasonal rockstars, like guinness or hot cross buns (next to try on my list) as well as flavours you simply don't see a whole lot of, like rosewater, chai and tamarillo. Gelateria Cremona is up there with my favourite gelato joints in Brisbane. It's perfectly located in the bustling restaurant hub of Rosalie Village, and is the perfect place to go for dessert. The flavour range is excellent, and the team come up with themed new flavours for different seasons and special events. Once, in an absent-minded moment, I left my wallet on the steps outside the shop and only realised when I arrived home some time later. By the time I got back, a kind staff member had retrieved it from the steps and put it behind the counter for safekeeping until my return. That kind of goodwill always leaves a good aftertaste! I'm a true believer that Massimo's at Noosa is the best gelati in Queensland, but because I generally can't justify driving almost two hours for a frozen dairy product, Gelateria Cremona keeps me very happy in the meantime. I love the way they invent new flavours all the time, often to celebrate a specific holiday or season. Anzac biscuit gelati got a big thumbs up from me in April, and just a few nights ago the Christmas pudding gelati helped me feel festive. Other flavours that have particularly impressed me (aside from the basics which they do very well too: I'm looking at you, pistachio) are liquorice, pear, fig, and ginger. And I can vouch that their chocolate gelati kept a five year old in complete silence for a blissful ten minutes. Gelateria Cremona make their gelati fresh, on-site, and with authentic ingredients rather than flavoured essences or powders. A take home tub is the ultimate treat, especially in summer! I'm the hugest fan of ice cream generally and I'm deathly afraid of the dreaded ice cream headache, so it's testament to the quality of this place that I go there when I'm in the mood for sweets. The Tiramisu is great and I like it in the waffle cone not the cup. They do good coffee as well, so it's a good place to go in Rosalie after dinner if you want to keep the night going. They also craft a few unusual savoury flavours that will raise a few eyebrows. This is the most popular little gelateria in Brisbane. It's not my favorite gelateria I've ever been to, but it was good. The sorbet I had (grapefruit) was recommended to me, but was too bitter for my taste. My friends all got different flavors from me and enjoyed their flavors very much. Late night Saturday ice-cream runs are always the best, especially when they have some lovely flavours! I had the honeycomb and dark chocolate, both of which were delicious. It gets super busy so expect to wait but I can reassure you it won't be for too long (maybe 5 mins max). Also, remember to get cash out before you go...to save yourself the hassle of having to lose your spot in the queue to get cash out. Gelateria Cremona is the REAL DEAL. I have lived and worked in Rome, and there is no better "artiginale" gelato in Australia. Hand-made from raw ingredients (no syrups here!), this is the most authentic, traditional gelateria outside of Italy. Each flavour is fresh - which means if it's not in season, it's not available. That's how you know that this is authentic gelato, served in traditional "pozetti" just like in Rome. 5-star excellence! read more
