I spent 2.5 weeks in Sydney visiting family and the gelato from Messina was one of the top 3 things I ate (the others were Luna Lu and homemade pavlova). First things first: the staff was incredible. We went to order two 1.5L tubs of ice cream (max of 5 flavors each) and we tried A LOT of flavors before deciding. I'm talking give or take 20 flavor samples-- and the star m staff never batted an eye. They were courteous and generous and put up with one of our group explicitly asking for a sample large enough for the three of us to share. Now the actual gelato: we got mango, raspberry, coconut lychee, pistachio, macadamia nut crunch, pear and rhubarb. The mango and macadamia were the stars for our group by far, though honorable mentions to the pistachio and pear+rhubarb. I personally thought all of them other than the mango were excellent, with the macadamia being my favorite. It was nutty and sweet with a cookie like crunch in there somewhere. Amazing. I spent my entire last week trying to get back here for more gelato and never was able to. Do yourself a favor and go out of your way to get some Messina if you're in Sydney. read more

After an awesome steak dinner we decided to venture down the street and check out Messina who are known for their gelato and cakes in Sydney. That move turned out to be really really sweet. I ordered two scoops dulce de leche and hazelnut chocolate and both were delicious and at par with the quality of gelato you get to experience in Belgium and Italy. The food game in Sydney is awesome hence you are always confident no matter which place you end up in you are going to get the the highest quality of food along with service. This nice little corner gelato place had excellent options and even though I didn't try their cakes I am pretty sure those were really good too. 5 stars all the way. Parramatta the area has some really nice restaurants and if you venture out here give Messina a try. read more

Nice Gelato Parlour, nothing special and a bit separated from the main part of church street. I find that the staff are always a but quiet and want to move customers on straight away, and that the flavours are nothing extraordinary. Really doesn't take much convincing when you hear 'Messina', the name says it all, it's almost as household as Coca Cola these days with their every expanding empire. It's the Creme de la Creme of gelato with its crazy, inventive, imaginative & risqué flavour concoctions! Sometimes I think the masterminds must've been high on all the sugar in the gelato to come up with some of these crazy but oh-so-delicious-and-lickable flavours! It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the flavours but first have a look at the prices and do the math. Its much better value to grab 3 scoops for $7 or one of the $10 500ml tubs. The only problem I've ever had here is being stuck behind a "taste tester" in the queue. You know, those people that abuse the free taste test by wanting a taste of just about every flavour in the store! One or two is fine but some people just take the piss... Other than that its pure awesome. Just be careful with some of the flavours as they can be quite strong. If it has something like lemon or ginger in it I'd test it as they're usually really really strong flavours. read more

What can I say. Messina is good every time. It does get quite busy throughout the night but the line is quick moving especially when people are paying via app. My favourites is dulce de Leche and the salted caramel and white chocolate. Definitely check out the board for different specials and grab a cake for special occasions. read more

I love the flavours at this place and their chocolate ice creams are amazing. My son is currently going through a strawberry/berry phase. And he loved the raspberry sorbet heaps. Pretty much ate two scoop all on his own and didn't want to share. Staff are friendly and gave me a cup and a cone. Because ice cream and kids just means mess mess mess. Downside: cash only. Lines can get long but it moves quite quickly. read more

If you get a week where nothing appeals that's really unfortunate because do many of their specials are taste-bud blowing. The ones that sound the least exciting are so often the best. read more

I always enjoy a gelato from Gelato Messina and no different this time. This one is located on the busy Church Street amongst the other restaurants here. I like to try the specials as they come and go and don't want to feel like I'm missing out. The one that caught my eye was the The Chosen Won which I enjoyed the coffee crunch and candied almonds the most. The other one that got my attention was the Wilson as I enjoy a good coconut biscuit and lime gave it a citrus kick. read more

Best gelato in the Western Suburbs! I love the big tubs of gelato that you can purchase and also the gelato cakes. Its a great place to go to on a Friday night with friends. If you decide to queue up to get some gelato with the idea and expectation in mind that its going to taste like god's churned it himself then you're probably going to walk about like "well fxck, this was a waste if time." Very rude customer service. The bald man behind the counter got mad when my husband asked for "2 scoops of chocolate" and I said sorry in 2 cups he slammed the cup down on the counter and spoke to us in a very mean tone! Last Saturday(06/03/21) I went in store to pick up an online order placed by my niece at 8.00pm( order pick up time from 7.00pm). There was a long queue and couple of delivery drivers outside the store. I walked in store and told the woman serving about the online order and she asked me to wait in the queue for what I said it's to be picked up from 7pm. She said to come in the queue. I waited after 25mins it was my turn i went in and the guy asked me to wait and started preparing an order for a delivery driver, i got really annoyed and told him its an online order can I get it, thats when the asian woman( really dumb and extremely stupid) who asked me to wait in the line opened the fridge and handed it over to me. Obviously annoyed i told her i was waiting and you guys preparing online delivery guys all you got to do is to open the fridge and hand it to me to which that dumb idiot replied its the company policy reasons. Sometimes these idiots do not think using their brain or they are paying peanuts so only they could afford hire these unprofessional idiots. We have always been a big fan of going to Gelato Messina for the awesome Gelato that they provide. But the staff there is extremely rude and inconsiderate. They did not even want to provide one extra plastic spoon. They spoke in an extremely rude manner, which makes me question if i should ever go back again there. read more
