Gelato! Gelato! Gelato! Messina! Finally they have a store out west! This store is more spacious compared to their Darlinghurst and Surry Hills ones. Located at 283 Church St, Parramatta. Favourite flavours include salted coconut and mango salsa and banana split! Grab a 500ml tub for $10 and you can choose 3 flavours. Yummy!

Been here a few times now since moving to Melbourne. It's always busy which is a great testament to the good quality gelato you'll get. Just wish they'd bring some structure to their non existing queuing system.

Really doesn't take much convincing when you hear 'Messina', the name says it all, it's almost as household as Coca Cola these days with their every expanding empire. It's the Creme de la Creme of gelato with its crazy, inventive, imaginative & risqué flavour concoctions! Sometimes I think the masterminds must've been high on all the sugar in the gelato to come up with some of these crazy but oh-so-delicious-and-lickable flavours! At some pretty decent prices no wonder there's a queue every day! Always always always try at least one flavour on the specials menu but if none takes your fancy my staples are Salted Caramel w White Chocolate Shards, Banana Split & the refreshing flavours of Pandan & Coconut. Ps. If there's peanut butter involved in any of the specials in sold at "pea"

So glad this opened up locally! I was missing my messinas hit! I think everyone knows about this place, the flavours are always changing and the more radical they sound the tastier they are! Got to try every flavour before I die! Lol Try the tasting plate, you can pick five flavours between you and a friend and finish it even after a hearty dinner!

It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the flavours but first have a look at the prices and do the math. Its much better value to grab 3 scoops for $7 or one of the $10 500ml tubs. The only problem I've ever had here is being stuck behind a "taste tester" in the queue. You know, those people that abuse the free taste test by wanting a taste of just about every flavour in the store! One or two is fine but some people just take the piss... Other than that its pure awesome. Just be careful with some of the flavours as they can be quite strong. If it has something like lemon or ginger in it I'd test it as they're usually really really strong flavours.

Mint chocolate chip and i forgot the other flavor..

We asked the staff for some water for the table .. and the staff said to us "we don't have water,…read moreyou can order drinks" I found it strange that this place doesn't offer water and that you need to order drinks if you are thirsty ..This is the first restaurant/ cafe I've been to that do not provide any water for free especially when I did already order a decent amount of dessert. That's besides the fact that the dessert was already sweet enough, and I really just wanted sine water to help wash it down. The food otherwise was decent, just didn't like the server's attitude.

I've heard this place spoken about in very high regards for many years. I knew it was about time I…read morestrapped on my big boy boots and mosey on over. The place is huge for a dessert cafe. Two levels with a large number of tables and chairs. For us it was a quiet night but I dare not imagine what it would be like with a packed house. Nothing really stuck out for me about the aesthetics of the place. The colours, artwork and architecture all just bled into the background. When it comes to dessert cafes you need it to be bold and create all the right impressions. Ordering is done at the counter. I'm surprised that a place like this doesn't have table side service. I needed a map to find the bathrooms, one second I'm walking upstairs and then I'm by the crepe counter on the ground floor... where am I?! The food is pricey but that being said the quality and quantity definitely reflects what you pay for. You won't be leaving hungry, the amount of ice cream and other flavoured yummies is just unbelievable. Between three people we spend around $100 and that's not including drinks. Speaking of drinks, we requested a jug of water and our waitress informed us that if we wanted water we'd need to buy bottled water. This is a bit harsh but chocolate and sugar makes you thirsty and the cafe wants their drinks profits. The ordered a spinach crepe ($18.90) and a NY Grilled 3 Cheeses ($8.50). The crepe was very tasty and soft, the salad that came with it had so much dressing on it that it was inedible. The NY Grilled 3 Cheese was okay, nothing to really write home about. The stars of the meal was the desserts. A 5th Ave NY and an Oreo Crepe. The 5 Ave came in a massive goblet glass, the amount of ice cream and waffle was extraordinary. The Oreo Crepe was out of this world, with rich melted white and milk chocolate and Oreo cookie dust. Was it a great dessert? You bet ya. Did anything else really stand out to us? Not really. The staff were friendly but we didn't really feel welcomed. When I notice this I always look towards the management, enough said. When I'm paying through the nose for an amazing meal, I also want an amazing experience to go with it. Come for the dessert and stay for the dessert.
