I have been to this store 3 times to purchase 2 Omega and 1 Breitling watch. Rowena helped me the first two times and Cindy the third. I also purchased a diamond lattice ring that I can't stop looking at. the first time we went there we knew what we wanted and didn't hesitate to get someone's attention for help. we weren't dressed up. we were just left alone until we were ready to purchase. and then we spent time chatting about the various watches and their stories and had a great experience. I went back the second time to buy my navitimer. I asked before hand for photos and got to ask questions about the watches and I didn't even have to leave my house! great service! Our recent visit was just as pleasant. Cindy was helpful looking at cartiers for my 50th birthday next year. we got my husband a speedmaster and i picked out a ring. I will continue to come to this store for my fine jewelry! I just wish they had a location in the South of the city. That is my only complaint: location. read more

I had to stop here one day and get an appraisal done. It was recommended to me by a family member so I figured I would check it out. They were able to take my piece right away and did what they had to do for about half an hour while I looked in nearby stores. When I came back, the gentleman explained everything to me and even showed me the details that he focused on in his appraisal. This was really helpful because I had no idea what to look for before he told me. They have me a certificate of worth and I was on my way! It was a really good experience and I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get an appraisal done. I didn't look around the store at the jewelry they had so I can't comment on that. I held off buying an omega seamaster 300m watch until my visit to Edmonton Alberta hoping to save some taxes. Upon arriving in the city I went straight to GemOro jewelers with 45 minutes to spare before closing. My wife and I were greeted by a friendly sales staff lady who led us to the showcase and brought out two watches for me to view. I had questions regarding watch straps that the sales lady couldn't answer and had to ask an associate ( sales manager?) perhaps? The associate seemed to become annoyed with some of my questions regarding labour cost pricing of strap replacement, but the kicker was when I asked if a discount was available on the watch of choice, the associate sales lady raised her voice for all to hear and explained why a discount is not available. I felt I was being dressed down for asking such an absurd question. My watch buying experience has always been pleasurable, and I was excited to be purchasing my first Omega watch. Had I been told in a somewhat softer tone of voice and a better choice of words I would have purchased Seamaster 300m Sedna gold watch before closing time. I purchased a gold pendant years ago for a friend. White gold design on yellow gold. Wore it a couple of times before it cracked and pieces fell off.I took it back and they exchanged it for a yellow gold design on white gold. He never wore it, he passed away and I got it back. I wore it twice before it cracked and a piece fell out of the middle....again. I took it to have the gold valued and it showed as gold plated silver. It been a few years, but I feel cheated somehow. This is a high end place and unfortunately like 'pretty woman', I was ignored based on my appearance. And not because I look like a manish looking street walker, but a sandle wearing man in very casual atire. The ladies in thier expensive clothes took my watch without a second glance and told me come back in an hour. Now my watch may be a bit complex and filled with Helium, but an hour seems a bit much. They told me they would call if it was done earlier. After an hour I came back and was ignored some more. I finally found the technician who said it was done a while ago and proceeded to take care of me. He was a very nice gentlemen who did take the time to make me feel good. The technicains seem to know thier stuff but the front of the house is rude and obnoxious. I own 3 Omega watches and can be easily conned into more expensive toys, thier loss as I will not go back again. read more

I have had mixed experiences here, some of the sales people are fairly knowledgable and helpful (some know next to nothing about the products however), but on the whole they are quite rude and snotty, and they clearly do ignore potential customers based on their appearance. Worse than this though is their after-sales service, they tried to charge me $75 'shipping' for in-warranty service on an Omega watch that I purchased there. When I phoned Omega Toronto's customer service they sounded quite shocked at this. They are the only authorised dealer in Edmonton for several brands, however based on their terrible after-sales service (I basically have to ship the watch back to Omega myself), I would buy instead from any other authorised dealer in Canada or the U.S. - there is no advantage to buying from Gemoro as they have no interest in you once they have taken your money. read more

I really hesitated to visit this store, based on the relatively high number of filtered one-star reviews, and also because I was told not to shop here by a trusted co-worker. However, as stated by other reviewers, Gemoro has the monopoly in Edmonton for a number of high-end brands, and when my fiancee and I wanted to purchase a Mont Blanc pen as a gift, Gemoro was our only local option. We went to the mall after work, and were worried that we wouldn't be taken seriously because we were both dressed very casually. On the contrary, we were greeted by a saleswoman immediately when entering the store, and she was able to show us exactly what we were looking for. I can't speak to her knowledge of fountain pens, as we knew very little ourselves, but she answered our questions competently and helped us select a gift with very little time or effort. I got the impression she didn't love her job, but she helped us nonetheless. While my fiancee purchased, I browsed the store (which has a lot of really gorgeous watches and diamond pieces) and was asked by two more associates if I needed help or wanted to look at anything. The pen we purchased will be given to an out-of-town friend, so I am not able to comment on their after-sales service (criticized by many other reviewers), but perhaps Gemoro has listened and is improving their customer service. A brutal experience. Stay clear. I was treated like a piece of crap and nearly ignored until one of the snobby sales ladies spotted my 9K Rolex peeking from under my cuff. She stopped her somber looking expressions and happily asked which model it was. It was then and only then was she willing to look let me look at pieces i wanted to see. By reading the other comments I'm not the only one being treated this way. With these kind of high end purchases that are intended to last a life time and possibly be passed down i wouldn't even consider giving them my hard earned money. Hey guys went in to buy an Omega Speedmaster Pro today and the best they could do for me was eat the tax making the watch $5,650. She said that they could easily sell that model which I could understand but there is no way I'd pay full price for a watch. I called Calgary Jewellers and they had just sold the one they had that day and would have to order one in which would take two weeks. I asked if they could move on the price and he said "of course my friend I will get you a very special price!" He came back with$5,100 taxes in.. a $550 difference over the dam phone! I returned to Gemoro in WEM to deliver this news to give them a chance to match but all I got was a scowl and was told "no way... not possible" no movement what so ever. I will be buying my Omega from Calgary Jewellers tomorrow morning along with every single other watch I plan on adding to my collection. Although the people at Gemoro were friendly and helpful I could not purchase or recommend them. No one wants to pay more than they should when spending that much money on a watch. read more

I purchased a Tudor watch from them on February 12 I have went in twice asking them if they could put on an extra link to which I am greeted with extreme rudeness and an excuse as to why they cannot do it. Everyone that works there has a god complex and is not afraid to show it. I would recommend driving the 2.5 hours to Calgary to get some real service as it would be quicker than going to them and you wouldn't be ostracized for going in. read more

I can't begin to imagine how many jewelry stores are in this city, but I always go to Gemoro as they've been around forever and service has always been great. I have two necklaces that my SO purchased from Gemoro, and I've purchased a chain for him as well. We've been in there together in just normal street clothes and never felt judged as some people claim. A sales associate even let us dream with the Seamasters. They are also quite accommodating as I purchased a chain more than two weeks before I was gifting it, so they wrote on the receipt that I could have extra time to exchange it. I haven't previously been here because I know they sell all the higher end brands, therefore they're expensive. I always got my jewellery or watches at less pretentious, yet more welcoming places than this. Now I know for sure because of this one visit. My fiancé and I were looking for yellow gold (looking) watch so that I may purchase it for my fiancé, we were dressed casually that day but not sweatpants and t-shirt casual. More like we just came from office work casual. We were just wanting to see what kinds of watches they had here as we were both looking for a "more than $500" watch. As we walk in, a man dressed in a suit acknowledged us as we approached him (he was talking to his coworker over a counter). He did not acknowledge us warmly, it felt more like we were interrupting him. My fiancé started the conversation as "we are looking for a gold watch". He abruptly asks him "yellow gold or gold-looking?". My fiancé, confused by the question (because he's only ever had one $500 watch he got a few years back), said "made of gold?", to which this man abruptly asks (again), "what's your budget?". We said "1000-1500?". This man goes "oh, yeah, you want gold looking" in the most pretentious way possible, making both my fiancé and I feel like peasants. I almost felt like I should have lectured my fiancé on not saying the wrong thing but really this guy didn't need to act like this. He took us to the back of the store, where we saw the majority of their workers there, some who were women in tight dresses socializing. Why did I add that? Because I felt like this was a place not for us based on this observation and that we were stopping them from doing what they were doing. The guy "helping" us pointed to the wall of Tissot watches and said "there are a few on there that are gold looking". And then he stood there, not looking at us or our way, looking like we were wasting his time and made us feel unwanted and neglected. My fiancé started feeling flustered and wanted out. I tried to get him to look at some of the watches on the wall but I totally understood why he felt that way, because I felt that way too. We left in a hurry and I don't think the Gemoro guy even noticed that we did, even though we were a few steps away from him. I've worked at various retail places for a good portion of my adult life, including a popular jewellery store. I can tell you right now that I've treated EVERYONE equally despite what they look like or how they act. I always appreciate people who do the same for me no matter what I'm shopping for. You can get a person who looks like they shouldn't be spending a dime to be the one spending thousands of dollars. You can also get the person dressed from head to toe in authentic designer garb and they will continuously come into the store and never spend a cent, no matter how nice and accommodating you are to them. I don't like swearing on public online places but F this place. If I got rich somehow, I wouldn't even come here, I would totally pull a Pretty Woman moment here and tell them they made a huge mistake, "BIG!!". Hmph. read more

There is no question that they have beautiful jewellery (especially watches) in their store. Rolex, Omega, Cartier as some examples of the high-end product in their stock. I ended up purchasing a Cartier watch elsewhere, not because of selection, but because of the pushy and stuffy approach by the staff. I went in three separate occasion to simply look in the the display cabinets, where I expressed a desire to simply browse to the sales associates. I was approached several times by the same sales associate on each of the occasions I went there. It was a frustrating experience that ended up costing them a sale. I guess wearing my normal street clothes and my outdoors watch (casio protrek) instead of one of my Omega or Rolex pieces. Great selection of upscale watches but their attitude is one of faux snobiness that is poor. Consistently treated better in Frankfurt, Tokyo, Nassau and even Vancouver. Storepeople: Its in a MALL in EDMONTON! People in jeans WILL walk into your store who have the means to purchase! Often, when buying an upscale item, it takes a few visits and a sales relationship. But when one saleslady abandoned me after finding out I wasn't buying that day, and the other at first didn't even notice I was in her otherwise empty Rolex section and then wouldn't move from behind her little desk, I knew that I will buy somewhere else where they seem to want my business. I would stay away from here, I love watches and I always look. I love Zenith Watches and I actually ended up buying one, but not here. They are very judgemental and service is horrible. To be fair, it really depends on whom you get, I had one guy that was ok and he seemed nice and didn't mind me looking and trying on a few time pieces but the one lady always had some comment about ones I wanted to try on like "Are you sure you want to see that one, it's over 10K". This is the place to go in Edmonton for a higher end watch. The only brand they need to carry is Hublot. Service - 3 stars. Not the most inviting atmosphere but you will get your gratuitous "hello" as they analyze your spending amount in their head. I have a regular sales person I deal with so my view of the quality of service is good. But I will say it is high pressure sales. As a visitor to Edmonton a few times year, I love going to this store to look at their large collection of luxury timepieces. I must admit that at the beginning I also got the "look" as I notice have been written in the reviews. I am sure many folks just stop in and look around, without any intention at all to buy. Once they know that you are serious about watches I found them very friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of watches. Now being a regular customer I enjoy going there. They have an extensive Rolex collection and I purchased from them before. I enquired this week about a specific Rolex Daytona that was in very limited supply across Canada. I appreciated the fact that Clara quickly responded to my request, by texting me pics of the models they had in stock, even though I can look at it on-line. I investigated all of western Canada and Toronto for this specific watch, and realized that Gemoro was the best to deal with. The watch was shipped to me within 24 hours and I absolutely love my new timepiece, a 17 year wedding anniversary gift. My advise, don't judge too quickly, build a relationship and you will not regret being a customer here. read more

Gave it one star as I could not go any lower, service is terrible. Took two watches in to be serviced firstly a professional divers watch, I explained that if it needed to sent away for special servicing this was acceptable. The second was a Raymond Weil lady's gold watch with a faulty winder and miss-aligned hands. The divers watch was ready first, and I was told that they couldn't get seals for this watch any longer and that the watchmaker had sealed the case with silicon and should not be used below 5 meters !! Now to the Raymond Weil, it took longer for them to fix this watch, a week later, when we returned to the store the serviced watch had stopped working (it did work previously). The watchmaker was also now on holiday, so we had to wait another 3 weeks before he returned, after 4 weeks we were told the watch was ready, when we went into the store the watch was again showing the incorrect time, the sales assistant said that the watchmaker occasionally forgot to set the correct time so she set the watch and asked us to return later. When we did return the watch was showing the correct time so we payed for the service and left. Now 4 days later the watch has once again stopped. read more

As it turns out I need to revise my review. Is there a way to give ZERO stars? After reviewing the facts, Gemoro sold my wife a discontinued model of watch, that they did not disclose, at full price simply to take advantage of trusting consumer. They mis represent the details and them when it was given to me, it had a manufacturers flaw as well. When we took it back to complain, they told us their policy was exchange or store credit only. They assured my wife there would be no issues if I didn't like the watch, they would take care of her, this is not the case. They have fed us an abundance of misleading statements and vague, non committal comments. They are NOT helpful. They are happy to take your money and then once your credit card clears they no longer want to know you. I would strongly suggest that you shop at ANY other jeweler in the city. Perhaps watch companies should start to pay attention to just who they let retail their products! read more

I always see this store at wem but i have never come in until this weekend. When i came in nobody even said hi to me and the lady at the front just stared me down. I looked around and nobody bothered to ask me if i needed help even though there was only one other customer in the store so obviously they were not busy. Upon reviewing the reviews on Gemoro, I was compelled to write one myself. I have purchased 2 Rolex's from them in the past 6 years, 1 for my wife and another for myself. I was met with the same aloof attitudes from staff the first time, but once they realized I meant business their attitude changed, which eventually resulted in the purchase of my first watch. When it came time to buy another watch, I went back. Unfortunately I was met with the same disapproving glances when I walked in, until I mentioned I'd purchased before and wanted another. I also witnessed the unacceptable treatment of junior staff mentioned in one of the previous reviews. It appears that Gemoro's "preferred" clientele must walk in with Harry Rosen suits or designer dresses on and anything less is looked down upon. Too bad, I know many successful Albertans that prefer jeans to suits so Gemoror has just alienated 90% of the Alberta market that they are trying to do business in. Perhaps Gemoro management should take a stroll into a Rolex shop in Phoenix or Hawaii, where they greet you with a smile and offer to have your watches cleaned while you are browsing the new models and treat you to a coffee or bottle of water. I paid $11,000 and $12,000 for my watches at Gemoro. The same watches in Lahaina, Hawaii were +-$7500 - $8500 last month, January 2014. I've purchased my last watch from Gemoro. read more

If I could rate zero stars I would be happier. We checked to find out who the approved repair centre was for my Tag Heuer watch as we needed a new bracelet. The lady at the counter sneered at the watch and said it was very old and was that all I wanted. She tried to bully us into ordering without giving a price and wanted to hold onto the watch even though they would not even look into it until after the New Year. She kept making negative remarks about a much loved watch, she refused to give any indication of price and looked down on us the whole time. I will be contacting Tag Heuer to lodge a complaint too. Very disappointing but I am going to visit a different store that is approved and hopefully they know about customer service read more

The first time I visited the store, I was worried that I would spend a fortune in trying to acquire a nice watch. The experience was not good. The staff basically tried to sell me what they had in store instead of spending more time looking into what my needs were. I have had two problems in dealing with this company. I needed a battery replaced in two watches at different times and both times there was problems. First problem was they scratched the backing and then claimed it was not them. They said I would have to come back another day to pick it up after they tried to remove the deep scratch. They did not refund any amount for the inconvenience. Second problem was also a battery change and they ended up getting debris between the crystal and face. Again they corrected the problem. Three trips back to the store to have the watch problem fixed and again no refund for the inconvenience. The mark-up on the battery's is crazy. Unfortunately they do carry great watches but not trusting the service I have a hard time dropping a lot cash there. I send all watches to Lethbridge AB. Amazing work! This is the worst possible jewellery store i have ever know. My finance recently went to buy my engagement ring at the location in West Edmonton Mall. He was dealing with a gentleman. When he went to the store accompanied by my mother he asked to only see rings with a centre 1.0 ct or over. He was looking to get the nicest ring he could find and wanted to shop around. The gentleman scanned him over top to bottom then excused himself and stated he needed to see his manager. My mother could see him speaking with the manager... they stared at my boyfriend and conversed for a few minutes. After-which the salesman came back and declared that they have no rings that he would be interested and should leave, For a store that prides themselves in the finest jewellery in the city and outstanding service I am disgusted with such a display of prejudice and stereotyping behaviour. I ended up getting an amazing 2.0 ct ring that i absolutely love! I have told everyone I know and will continue to tell everyone I know about this experience so they and everyone they know will never shop here. Places like this should not be allowed to be in business; you disgust me and I hope this encourages other potential customers to go elsewhere! read more

i would have giver no stars if possible... i brought my tennis bracelet to the gemologist on staff micheal. he told me he would look at it, after 20min he came back and told me that my 5ct tennis bracelet only had 4ct. he then proceeded to tell me that i was ripped off. when i questioned him if he was sure it didn't have 5ct he told me he wasn't certain it was his estimate. i was very upset and told him that i didn't want an appraisal that wasn't giving an accurate value to my bracelet. that's when he reached into my baby stroller and grabbed my car keys. i was completely shocked, then he started walking out of the store and into the mall with my keys. i had to call security to get my keys returned to me. he kept demanding that i pay him 40 cash because he didn't truly work there, he was contracting his services out. it was crazy, he didn't even demand i pay, he just grabbed my keys from my stroller. please don't give these people any of your hard earned money. they are very unconscionable and should be put out of business. if they could treat me this way, being very non threatening, they can do it to you too. i was with my 7month old and this gemologist was completely crazed. read more
