I had a Kohler whole house generator and auto transfer switch installed by Shawn and his team. They are truly professionals and treated my house like it was their own. They even swept up after themselves when they were done. I mentioned to Shawn about not leaving the doors open to keep the cat from running out and he incorporated my concerns into his kick off huddle with his team before they started. It's worth noting that I previously had a Lowes contractor give me a price for a generator install. Not only did the local Lowes contractor tell some fibs about what was required because of the Michigan Building Code (which I rebutted because I know the code and I offered a copy for him to show me the section right on the spot ) I was offered a lesser quality Generac generator (even after I told him I wanted Kohler) and a small limited circuit manual transfer switch. Nevertheless I sent him on his way and called Shawn. I have never looked back. Not only was Shawn's price reasonable he was lower than the other contractor and I got what I wanted to which was a Koehler generator and whole house automatic transfer switch so I didn't have to pick and choose what I wanted on the panel I am a contractor so I know the system. Shawn was by far the most knowledgable generator contractor I spoke with after deciding to take the plunge from my gas powered portable unit to a permanent whole house Koehler. After his assessment of needs and meeting with him face to face, it was obvious I could stop my search for the best way to go. His more than competitive all-inclusive pricing sealed the deal. The installation itself was more than I could have hoped for. He and his crew - Matt Sharron, electrician; James Bunker, mechanical contractor; and Dave Murany - were spectacular! They were so respectful of the fact that I had to let my dogs outside sporadically, being certain that the gate and doors were always shut. The install itself was polished, for lack of a better term. All spots cut into the house were sealed cleanly - they even neatly resealed pipes into my house from my AC unit installed by another contractor as that certainly wasn't close to the professional job done by these guys. Cleanup was fantastic. First time I haven't had to clean after contractors left the premises. They didn't leave until I had a clear understanding of what to expect with the generator. Glad Shawn offers maintenance plans, so he'll check out the unit twice yearly. Plus, if problems arise, he's always available.
