Our family has ALOT of pets. Like most people we love them , feed them the best diet possible and make the drive from Southshore to the Northshore to Dr. Greg LaBranche for ALL of their healthcare needs. Dr. Greg's genuine interest, intuition and great attention to detail in regards to diagnosing and treating our pets is unparalleled! Last week our beautiful, sweet Beagle Bentley who recently developed a disc problem became completely paralyzed overnight. Bentley was in extreme pain and lost total use of his hind legs, also could not empty his bladder or control bowel movements. We were struck with the reality that as severe as Bentley's situation was the prognosis was not good. Our first concern was for Bentley's pain! Dr. Greg began to address this first as we discussed the options. Seeing Bentley's condition and the seriousness of the situation letting our boy go was something we had to consider. Dr. Greg suggested that acupuncture treatment was an option we could and should try before having to make that ultimate decision to let Bentley go so we were not second guessing ourselves in the end. Due to the severity of the situation we had guarded expectations. Well Bentley stayed with Dr. Greg and his staff and acupuncture treatment began. Our family is jumping for joy! A week and a half later, little by little following each treatment more progress was made! First Bentley's hind feet began to respond to touch, then he made an effort to right them into a normal position when they were flipped, he began regaining bowel control after another treatment! Fast foward to today- Bentley is still in treatment, this morning he rose walked by himself and urinated all on his own- a function we were not sure would return! To us this is nothing short of a miracle! Dr. Greg who is modest just smiles and says "there is a reason acupuncture has been around for 2000 years". We are floored and we are all thankful for Dr. Greg, his knowledge, dedication and the excellent care our animals have received over the years from him and his wonderful staff!! read more

I have frequented General Animal Hospital for many years and started there when the practice was still Dr. Hendry's office. Greg LaBranche and his Staff have provided professional, caring and loving veterinary care to all of my animals. I have had nothing but great experiences when Dr. Greg is on duty. Of my three dogs that Dr. Greg has seen, two of them had serious diseases and provided great work for their issues. He recently helped me through a most difficult decision by sending my precious fur baby over the Rainbow Bridge - he asked if I was certain - he never once made me feel like I was doing the wrong thing and always gave the most professional and loving care to her. This particular pet had a variety of health problems and while these conditions were very hard to treat, Dr. Greg continued to keep me updated and provided the best care to her. I would not know what to do without Dr. Greg and his Staff for my pets. I trust no one else in the area to treat my fur babies. I highly recommend this veterinarian and have utilized their services for the past 17 years. These are good people! read more

An average vet, usually on time and the assistants who work in the office seem to enjoy animals. HOWEVER, we boarded our two boxers for 1 week, and when we returned they were emaciated and reaked of urine and feces. I vowed never to board our dogs there again. In addition, the examination rooms are never clean, they charge for unecessary procedures and they cannot get our first names correct (on mailers). read more

I have been bringing my chickens to Dr. Greg for the past 5 years or so. Chickens get sick and die frequently and not many vets will even see them because not much is known about treating them. Until very recently people considered that it was easier and cheaper to replace them rather than treat them, but Dr. Greg has gained experience over the years because his daughter has chickens. Sometimes he has consulted with the LSU Veterinary school about my chickens. I've never been charged for the time he took to do that. Rather than padding the bill as one reviewer mentioned, he has always been careful to keep the charges down and has sometimes advised me with no charge at all. One particular bird was older when I got her and she was very sick several times. With Dr. Greg's help I was able to keep her alive into her old age. He and his staff have always been very caring and sweet to me and my birds. I can't say enough about how well we've been treated there. read more

Prices are higher than normal vets. I took my dog here and the vet put her on meds and said she would be okay. He just wanted to get us out. THE VERY NEXT MORNING MY DOG DIED. I would have put her in an emergency vet if I knew she was suffering but he said she would be okay. I had lots of meds and a chart I made to give them to her perfect timing. He told me she would be okay and she died. I didn't spend any time with her before her passing, I didn't get to sit with her and tell her I love her because I thought she was going to be okay. She was suffering and died a miserable death because she was in so much pain. WE WOULD HAVE PUT HER DOWN, I thought that's what I was going to have to do that morning I visited the vet. I got good news that she would be fine and let us go our way to get the next person in. I do not recommend this vet to my worst enemy. You changed my whole life because you clearly don't know what you are doing at this location!! read more

We have had nothing but great experiences with Dr Greg & his staff for the past several years. My daughter had a cat with feline acne that another vet couldn't cure. After spending about $1000 we decide to try Dr Greg. He checked the cat & told her to buy an inexpensive over the counter cleaner. It cleared it up in a few weeks. When he has treated my dogs he lets me use medicines I already have if they'll work rather than running up the bill with more medicines. He is caring & takes lots of time with each pet patient. The times we have been there it has been clean & the staff was very welcoming. I have used several other local vets over the past 9 years & this is the one I would recommend. read more

I've taken my pets here since 2004, and I've always had fantastic service from caring employees. The assistants genuinely love animals and love playing with them. My dog is scared of other dogs so if/when she has to stay over night, they place her in a separate area away from the other boarded animals, so she isn't scared. The rooms are clean, the employees are friendly, and I've had consistently good service throughout the years. Go to General Animal Hospital, you can't get much better service than this. read more
