We loved the Heritage Farm area of the park. The kids enjoyed feeding the turkeys, chickens, goats, sheep, ducks, and horse. The boars were a little intimidating, but interesting to see. The grounds in the farm area are maintained nicely and the little museum with additional animal exhibits (salamanders, snakes, and turtles) was very informative. The rangers on duty were friendly and offered additional information as well. There were rentals available for bikes, paddle boats, and kayaks from the Trading Post and a small assortment of items for sale in the gift shop there. Fishing was also allowed on the little lake. The road going back to the campground loops needs work still - there are many potholes. The Swamp Trail had recently reopened and was available to walk. There's still a lot of storm devastation in the woods surrounding the trails- it'll take many years to recover, but the walking path has been restored. The campground loops are maintained well - loop 1 is not paved, but loop 2 is. Some sites don't offer much privacy, but we did enjoy site 50. The comfort station included a washer, dryer, a dish station, a little book library and a few restroom stalls. We were surprised that there was only one shower stall in each restroom though. There's really not anything else to do in the area though, so it's a quick weekend trip type of destination. Overall, a decent state park with unique animal encounter experiences. read more

Stopped here on our way to ATL beautiful park with a pond to walk around a few friendly animals to visit horses chickens goats pigs. Stretch your legs and fresh air. I recommend this park for any age especially kids. read more

We had a great time. We rented a cottage, expecting a cabin. We were pleasantly surprised. It did have a fully equipped kitchen so that was nice. The cottages were off on a secluded road with a play ground and trails, so that was nice. We drove to the near by main state park area to pet the animals and feed them. (You get the food from the main store up front, and you rent the boats from up there) We did some fishing and pedal boating. There is no pool, like a lot of signs say, I believe those are all outdated and it's now an archery area. Only thing I would say is the couches aren't that comfy, guess they don't expect you to hang out in the living rooms for to long. The beds were nice. And there were 4 Rockers on the screened in back porches. All in all, great trip. read more

What a lovely find down South Ga! We stopped here randomly and had such a great time. Took the guided tour and got to feed the animals, learn history and see property from the inside. Highly recommend this park for any history, nature enthusiasts. read more

We loved this state park! It offers multiple walking trails AND had a great farm in the front! I think the farm makes it a unique state park to visit, especially with kids. Can't wait to come back! read more

We have stayed at many state parks but here at the General coffee state park we feel right at home. When we arrived to our cabin it was all decorated for the holidays there is even a Christmas tree in the living room. The trails are easy to navigate and the park is perfectly clean and well-kept. We had trouble getting our TV to work and maintenance showed up right away to help us. Everyone is very kind here and it is the perfect relaxation and vacation spot for any occasion!! It is a perfect spot for families with small children or adults with either no children or fur babies! read more

This is a VERY cute place to spend an afternoon or a handful of hours. The old-timey structures in place are interesting to look at and read about, and my boyfriend and I were so surprised to find livestock there to interact with! The park is pet-friendly and my dog did not know what to think about the horse and mule! We spent a couple of hours there and we hope to return. read more

This place is a quiet jewel!! Perfect place to camp if you want to slow down and enjoy a quiet few days. Not much to do but that's the point of us being here... to slow down.. maybe a short hike or stroll. Park employees are friendly. This place is not far from basic stores such has WalMart. It is a perfect place to unplug young kids from electronics and enjoy the outdoors with several playgrounds, paddle boats and bike rentals. The long back road drive and older comfort stations is the only reason for the four stars rating out of five. read more

Drove for what seemed like forever to get here. Had a little petting zoo area for the kids. Paddle boats available to rent out. Walking trail along the little pond...key word little. There were some trails but we did not walk any of them maybe if we end up in that direction again we will. Overall a nice spot but not nice enough to drive that far again, unless maybe we missed something?! The camping area was not impressing in my opinion but it was pretty full so there must be something here. We will earn our patch next time!! We took our two grandchildren to see the new baby goats two fridays ago. When we asked our oldest grandson to back up against the pen to take his pic with the goats, he brushed against a "fire plant" as the people at the park called it. Immediately my Sammy was in horrible pain! Instantly! One "concerned" employ said, "oh did he find a fire plant? Luckily," she said with a smirk in her voice, "we have really cold water in the bathroom." Luckily we had rubbing alcohol in the car and it helped him but it hurt him most of the day. When I brought my concern to the people in the office, the woman behind the desk said we can't get rid of every bad plant in the park. I fully realize that and don't ask her/them to do that but one beside the pen where the baby goats are located, let me think...yeah that one can be pulled up and thrown in the trash! It was over a foot high, so how long had that been growing there? There was a guy out there working on something, he had on gloves, he could have pulled it up with no problem. Guys, y'all have dropped the ball on this. Get rid of the "bad plants" in the little village/homestead. read more

Nice little place to camp. Has a decent-sized pond that you can rent a canoe and paddle boat and ride in. Not much in terms of wildlife. Campgrounds were great, some more private than others. Also somewhat listed on campgrounds and size but it meant less people. We drove around 2.5 hours and would do it again. Very relaxing. read more
