Great little campground at the Okefenokee Swamp! We are camping here for 3 nights in a 30' Class A…read more The campground sites offer water, electric and a dump station. Each site is level and gravel. There is not any privacy between sites but they are not stacked on top of each other either. There is a fire pit, a picnic table, a grill and a lantern hook at each site. There are only 3 campsites on Lake Laura Walker but all of the other campsites have a view of it. There is one bathhouse for the campground and I did not go in it so I don't know how clean it is. The rest of the park is well maintained so I imagine the bathhouse would be too. The park offers a visitor center with a gift shop and ice cream and boiled peanuts for sale. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The park is about 20 mins from Waycross should you need to shop or grab a bite to eat. There are two playgrounds, a fitness area, many pavilions and picnic areas. There is also an area for Sunday Church service which starts at 9:30 am. They also offer cabins and cottages for rent and there are separate campgrounds for pioneer and group camping. They have a VERY large dog park! One side for small dogs and the other for large dogs. Each side offers a bench and a watering station. This dog park added an extra star to my overall rating! We enjoyed our stay here and were happy to find out we were only about 8 miles from the Okefenokee Swamp Park which is also highly recommended!

The walk to the beach is easy to moderate while walking thru soft sand, until the beach, where ancient trees lay on their sides, and roots make for a gorgeous view. The day we were here, the beach was littered with the bodies of cannon ball jellyfish, which are surprisingly solid, so watch your feet. Enjoy the temperate water of the Atlantic ocean and the bright South Ga Sun for a perfect afternoon.

We loved the Heritage Farm area of the park. The kids enjoyed feeding the turkeys, chickens, goats,…read moresheep, ducks, and horse. The boars were a little intimidating, but interesting to see. The grounds in the farm area are maintained nicely and the little museum with additional animal exhibits (salamanders, snakes, and turtles) was very informative. The rangers on duty were friendly and offered additional information as well. There were rentals available for bikes, paddle boats, and kayaks from the Trading Post and a small assortment of items for sale in the gift shop there. Fishing was also allowed on the little lake. The road going back to the campground loops needs work still - there are many potholes. The Swamp Trail had recently reopened and was available to walk. There's still a lot of storm devastation in the woods surrounding the trails- it'll take many years to recover, but the walking path has been restored. The campground loops are maintained well - loop 1 is not paved, but loop 2 is. Some sites don't offer much privacy, but we did enjoy site 50. The comfort station included a washer, dryer, a dish station, a little book library and a few restroom stalls. We were surprised that there was only one shower stall in each restroom though. There's really not anything else to do in the area though, so it's a quick weekend trip type of destination. Overall, a decent state park with unique animal encounter experiences.

They're reasonably priced, quiet, and beautiful!!! One thing that was good for me about this park was their outstanding internet for their guests that they did not charge for!!! My children could stream their devices and I could stream mine for work purposes. They keep the park up very well and no one bothers you. We would have stayed but I needed to be in Florida for work and to find a park that had more amenities for small children. I absolutely loved the staff here!!! You will not meet nicer people!!!
