The Good: Dr. Bonesteal is a exceptionally talented practitioner. My son really liked him, and our family deeply appreciated his insights and feedback. Most importantly, we saw real improvement in my son from the neurofeedback sessions. The Issue: Unfortunately, the intake and billing processes were poorly handled. Before scheduling, I explicitly budgeted for our first appointment after being told by intake that it would only cost $500. However, they ran an unapproved $2,000 psychosocial evaluation. My son had already had one done previously, and our pediatrician explicitly confirmed we did not need retesting. When they initially charged my card without authorization, I called billing. They acknowledged the miscommunication, apologized, and removed the charge. Surprisingly, they hadn't even billed our insurance before trying to charge my card directly. Shortly after, I received a new bill for the remaining balance after insurance was submitted. I spoke with Jen on four separate occasions. Initially, she was apologetic, had me submit my son's previous evaluation, and assured me they were working on a solution. Based on her reassurance that they were resolving it, I continued to pay in full for all subsequent visits. However, on our fourth call, her tone completely shifted. She blamed me for "not knowing" what testing was taking place during his appointment--despite me not being a clinical expert and relying on their initial $500 quote. In the end, no resolution was ever provided. Despite four phone calls where they apologized and promised to work it out, they sent me to collections for a $2,000 evaluation I never consented to or was clearly informed about. I truly appreciate Dr. Bonesteal's talent, but potential patients need to be extremely cautious and get every billing details in writing beforehand.

I've been thinking a lot about this situation with my prescriber, and I keep going back and forth…read moreon what I could have done differently versus what they could have done better. On one hand, I can see that technically I could have communicated more clearly about the issues I was having with the medication. I could've saved the number that called me when I had contact that one time. Looking back, some of it seems like it could have been simple, like just saying more directly what I was experiencing. I can kind of imagine someone else maybe would've handled it differently. But at the same time, I'm realizing that I wasn't really given clear instructions on what exactly to track or how to measure symptoms. She told me a few things to watch out for, but emotions and side effects can look different for everybody--and that was never really acknowledged or broken down. There wasn't much guidance on what counted as "serious" or what to do if I wasn't sure. It felt like I was expected to just know how to handle all of it, and I didn't. Part of me feels kind of stupid because now that I'm on the other side of it, I can see some things I maybe could've done. But my logical side knows that this was all new to me, and I did the best I could with the support I had--which honestly wasn't a lot. I wasn't given tools, I wasn't offered follow-up until I pushed for it, and when I did try to express myself, I felt like I was being brushed off or talked down to. At one point she even made a mocking face when I asked a genuine question. That really made me feel small. I don't want to just sit in blame, either way. I want to understand what healthy accountability looks like for both me and a provider in a situation like this--because I do want to be someone who communicates clearly and takes care of my health. But I also want to feel safe and respected when I do. Right now, I just feel confused, a little embarrassed, and frustrated. Though I do have to say, Senami still has experience with medication, and gives basic starter medications, so it's not like she's going hay wire, this was just my experience because of my reactions to the medications.

I was able to connect with the clinic directly by phone and they were able to schedule an appointment with the doctor I wanted to work with, but it would be a telehealth visit. That was fine with me as I live an hour away from the clinic. I will have to have 1 in-person visit per year, so that's do-able. The doctor was very patient, kind, listened to my questions and concerns, and for the first time, I actually felt heard by a psychiatrist. I'm glad I found this practice and I'm looking forward to getting back to feeling better.

They are a very busy group as they support multiple doctors and therapists, but they are always friendly and responsive. Dr…read more Kenneth Lee came HIGHLY recommended, and it's obvious why: he's personable, responsive, takes parental choice into account, and cares about helping his patients. He and his staff have been accommodating to us since we transferred care this past summer. They worked with me to ensure both kids got in for their Well Visits, which meant I didn't have to bide my time with the former practice. He has helped address and problem solve a few ongoing medical concerns I've had with my oldest child. I'm finally being heard and we are finally seeing some results! He has also helped us with multiple referrals for services, which is also helping my eldest get the supports he needs. Because he's a family doc, Dr. Lee has seen the kids AND me, which is very convenient. The doc I had seen retired in early 2016 AND the practice is about 45 minutes away, so I went without for a while. Now we all just go to the same place. I do have to say that we have been a giant train wreck on several occasions, and Dr. Lee has been kind and humorous, never batting an eye. Like the time my toddler knocked 20 ounces of coffee in an exam room ("It smells like a coffee shop in here! It's refreshing!"), or had an epic tantrum in the waiting room. Like, I seriously think he's dreading appointments with us (I would!), and could be upping his screening process, but he's been soooo nice.
