GHP provides basic preventive health coverage for Genesee County residents over the age of 19 (and people over 65 who do not qualify for Medicare) who don't have any other health coverage and meet our income requirements. This includes hard-working people-some who work two or three jobs- who don't receive health care coverage form their employer or don't qualify for other health coverage. GHP covers doctor visits, prescriptions, lab tests, X-rays, outpatient mental health services, dental visits, and some outpatient procedures and surgeries. GHP is not insurance as we do not cover some services like hospitalization and emergency room visits. GHP is an independent health care organization and is not part of city, county, or state government. GHP is not Healthy Michigan or Medicaid and cannot be purchased on the healthcare.gov marketplace. The Genesee Health Plan is a non-profit health organization that has provided health coverage and life-saving services through a trusted network of local physicians to over 90,000 Genesee County residents since 2001. That's nearly one out of every five Genesee County residents that have been on the health plan. Genesee Health Plan is not Medicaid or Healthy Michigan. Genesee Health Plan receives funding through the county "Health Care Services Millage" to provide health care coverage and case management/health navigation to members, and dental coverage for seniors and veterans.
