I visited this mall today, had not been there in many years. As I walked in and reminisced about the old days when I used to mall walk with my kids in the stroller, I wanted to cry. This mall used to be such a pleasant place to escape to! I walked around in a basically dark, deserted place today. Most lights were turned off, yet the mall was open! Most stores are gone, and the VERY few left are pitiful. Most shoppers would have no reason to to to those stores that are left. Macy's is soon leaving. It won't be long before the rest of the stores and JC Penney decide to vacate. I can't imagine they are taking in much money anymore. Really, really sad. Dark, depressing and empty. The upper level food court is also completely gone. The owners have done nothing to keep this place up and running for the people of Flint. Shame on them. read more

Well, they don't even have security guards anymore. This mall legit looks like a zombie apocalypse waiting to happen. Every other store is shut down. The stores that are open are only open when they feel like operating apparently. Mall was supposed to be open until 8:00 PM, but MANY stores were closed down before that. Macy's looks like a Goodwill. Their carpet is extremely dirty and old and it's obviously not an issue to corporate- I'm sure they figure it'll close down sooner or later so why bother fixing anything in it? This mall being in this condition makes me so sad. I remember when every single store and food court slot was filled. Now it's a sad shell of a building. Building owners don't care about maintaining it- which is why every other month they're having a water issue. I'm sure this mall will be shutdown completely within the next 5-10 years and it'll just be another abandoned building in Flint. read more

I grew up coming to this mall when I was a kid and it used to be an awesome mall and have so much stuff. But it's been on a downturn since the 08 recession. I live near it and will sometimes go in if I know I can get it there. But it's become the last mall I wanna go to. I drive to auburn hills now for Great Lakes crossing if I want anything anymore. read more

Have you thought about hiring a landscaping company to trim your trees and bushes around the exterior of the mall? Or perhaps grass & weed killer to take care the weeds/grass growing out of just about every crack in your parking lots? Try lowering your rent to fill all the empty spaces in the mall. This will generate more income in the long run. The key is to set aside a budget to reinvest in your business. It looks terrible! It's probably driving away a lot of customers. If I didn't live nearby, I definitely wouldn't come back. Maybe you could hire some neighborhood kids to pull weeds. Do something, please!! This place has is falling apart. read more

We've been taking my dad to Genesee Valley mall to walk and get exercise and do a little shopping for several years now. 2 years ago I wrote a review and had good things to say about the mall, not anymore !! Over the past 2 years it has become run down and is filthy, trash everywhere inside and out. The bathrooms were disgusting, and there wasn't any toilet paper in any of the stalls. More and more stores are closing and I can see why. It's not an inviting place to visit or spend time at. One week there were police officers and security every where and today I didn't see any. I can't see this mall staying open very much longer the way it's going down hill so fast. Sad for the city of Flint and surrounding areas. I'm just old enough to remember its birth, bulldozers and cranes etched into my childhood memory. During high school, I worked here, and learned a little bit about the maze of hallways and loading docks. Today, it's still a good place to pick up an item of clothing or take a winter day mall walk. Sears (north anchor store,) including the exterior auto center, still looks similar to the original, but the rest seems to have changed quite a bit. The south anchor is a Macy's rather than a Hudson's. The east-west transepts were added later than the original construction. The Outdoor Village is relatively new. At the center of this retail cathedral is the food court altar, options for breaking bread available from about twelve vendors. read more

Mall is almost completely DEAD! A few minor stores for woman or teens. NOTHING really for men!?! Only shop here if you absolutely have to and do NOT eat the food!!! read more

I have mixed feelings about this mall. Food court: not very good. Shop selection: decent. Atmosphere: meh. There are times when what you need in Flint can only be found here, unless you want to drive to Great Lakes Crossing or similar. For that purpose, it is very good. Hooray. The Spencers is quite good, and has lots of stuff. The Sears is huge. The Barnes and Noble is nice. Bar Louie too. The actual food court has a Taco Bell and some other stuff... really not that spectacular, unfortunately. There is a Surf City Squeeze smoothie place, which is nice. I've never experienced really scary moments or sketchy people walking around here, but maybe it happens from time to time. I've heard they card everyone after 6 pm? No experience with that... There is a used video game store that I cannot remember the name of in here - beware of what you buy from them. They sold a faulty Wii nunchuck to a friend and then provided much hassle upon returning it. Bottom line: if you have easy access to another mall, you're probably better off there. If not, this will likely suit your needs, if you're in Flint. read more

Don't eat at the Chinese place in the mall! Wife got food poisoning here. We called to tell a good friend about it and before we even said where she got the poisoning, she told us the story of how she got it from the same place a year ago!! This place needs the health department called on it as we had one of the nurses at the hospital say the same thing happened to her daughter from the same..exact..place. Do NOT eat here! read more

Full of low lifes. Set a Victoria secret bag down while looking at a shirt and within minutes was gone, no one in the store acted like they even looked when asked or even cared to offer to take my number incase it got turned in or to have security help. Won't be back to shop here, I didn't feel safe even before this incident now I know my intuition was right. One more reason to give Flint a bad rep. read more

Theres not many stores or malls around this area, so I actually love going to this mall. I've met so many lovely store workers over the years that have been nothing but friendly. Usually Spencer's workers are very sweet, the lady who makes her own bath bombs was very nice to me and gave me a free bath bomb when I bought several, and a guy in the piercing shop in the middle gave me a free nose ring once!! Its an ok mall. Store selections are decent and it is pretty easy to get around inside. They are working hard to provide good security for the mall but I still will not go there on weekends, in the early evening. read more

This a great mall, big enough to provide a variety of choices, small enough to get around quickly. The food court would be a star killer but they have one of the best coney island restaurant in the city. The layout is simple but effective. You can get around without having to backtrack . read more

Merely an okay mall in my estimation. It has some okay anchor stores, a lot of teen-friendly clothing retailers, mid range jewelry stores, a good sized bookstore, a Genesee District Library location, free wi-fi, and some decent food options. There are too many crappy boutique type stores coming in and out lately and the glut of teen-friendly retailers is out of control. It seems like the mall is catering to the under 21 crowd a bit much, with Aeropostale, Hot Topic, Aerie, Spencer's, Forever 21, Justice, Charlotte Russe, the arcade and the like cropping up everywhere. Meanwhile, the mall needs a few more high end salons and retailers to stay relevant and a couple of others, like Sears, need a big old makeover in order to stay competitive. As for restaurants, it has Bar Louie and Logan's Roadhouse now that Ruby Tuesday is long gone, as well as the upstairs food court, but better food options would definitely be nice since Bar Louie sucks lately. At least Macy's is looking better these days and seems to be turning around again for the better and both VS and BBW have both undergone remodeling during the past year, so those stores are looking good, too. The JcPenney is also remodeled. At least there are a few quick stops for coffee or snacks that aren't bad, like Coffee Beanery and Auntie Anne's, but the kick ass gelato/smoothie place appears to be gone now. Suck it! However, there's about a half dozen places to buy a new a new cell phone- or at least it appears that way- and the kids can get their Pro-Activ from a kiosk near the escalators, so good for them, I guess! At least Barnes and Noble helps anchor the mall and offers a bit of respite with its nice cafe. Unfortunately, Cinnabon and McDonald's both closed their doors, but now we have more of those silly cheap gift shops that are destined to stay just a short time and only make the place look cheesy. read more

I love this mall!!! There are stores here for any budget. Anchor stores are JCPenny, Sears, macys and Burlington. There is a nice clean playground for kids near Sears. There are soft seating areas through out the mall. Let's not forget about the snack places you can smell all over the mall. Over all, very nice mall for everyone! read more
