This thrift store has a few good items but their prices are way too expensive. But what turned me off was the customer service. It was awful. When it was 15 mins before closing they made an announcement that the store was closing and that's fine but the part I didn't like was they started flicking the lights on and off yelling at the customers telling them to hurry. I am from Canada where we have great thrift stores but this store is a whole other level. It's clean, organized and full to the brim. There are some high end items which are priced accordingly. You are not going to walk out with a Chanel blazer for $10... But you will find many high end mall brands for reasonable prices. Many items are new with tags and still priced low. There were so many beautiful shoes but as they were displayed by color I didn't have the patience to look at all of them. If they had been displayed by size , I have no doubt I would have left with 30+ pairs. Great store and nice to know they are affiliated with a charity. read more

August 2021 - seems to be the only place you can still drop off donations. Went to both Goodwills - Haskell Ave and Greenville; Haskell was closed looked like permanently and the Goodwill on Greenville had a sign saying to take items to the Haskell location I called to inform them of this and they were aware the sign was incorrect and I believe they told me about another location in Lakewood - but I was done with my Goodwill of Dallas tour so I dropped my items off at Genesis - quick and convenient outside drop off. I've reviewed this place before but I had to mention how ridiculous their pricing has become. They have some nice looking stuff, but it's not worth more than when it was new. Today I saw a picture I liked, I looked at and on back was the brand new price from Ross for $24.99, but yet these people wanted $48. I mean at least be smart enough to remove the original price. Came to Genesis on a Saturday morning with my cousin and was delighted to find that they were doing a fun April Fools' Day sale! Dresses with pink tags were half off and all women's blouses were half off, which was awesome, since I came in with the intention of picking up some nice work clothing. It was a little confusing browsing at first, but I got the hang of how the sizing worked fairly quickly, and I really loved how everything was organized by color! That made it much easier to find something visually appealing. Depending on how many people are around, there's a little bit of a wait for fitting rooms (there are only three downstairs), but everyone is usually pretty quick. Because of the sale I was really happy with the prices I got; only spent $33 on a skirt and five blouses and also ended up "splurging" for a nice Steve Madden bag that I found for $20 while waiting in line for a fitting room. My cousin got several dresses and some cute blouses as well. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in Oak Lawn and have some time to browse, and am also thinking about bringing some of my lightly used clothing to donate as well! Really impressed with the selection of blouses/tanks and skirts; I might try to browse for jeans, shorts, and dresses next time. read more

I bought a beautiful vintage desk and chair set here for just $45 and the gentleman who helped me get them to my car was incredibly kind (tall black dude in a hat- shoutout). I'm deeply disappointed about these reviews complaining about pricing. It takes a lot of work to get a store like this in the incredible condition it is in, which means the staff works incredibly hard and absolutely deserves a fair wage. Yes, other thrift stores are cheaper, but do they pay staff fair wages? Fair as in livable, not minimum. Consider when complaining that you are a comfortable housed person complaining about paying "too much" towards women in a literal shelter. What a privileged & unfortunate stance to take. Anyway, I just moved to Dallas and can't wait to make this my go-to thrift store for the long run. THANK YOU for all that you do, Genesis fam! Much love! read more

Easily my favorite thrift store in Dallas! I've found my new favorite sweaters, like-new fancy dresses, and professional blazers here for a *steal;* it's no wonder why the place is always busy when I visit. The staff are friendly, the inventory is great quality for reasonable prices, and (at least from what I understand) the store also is linked with efforts to help women/ children that have dealt with domestic violence so by supporting this business you are also supporting a good cause. 10/10. read more

Shopping at (and donating to) Genesis is a really great cause: you support a domestic violence shelter, and the women and kids at the shelter are able to shop the thrift store for free. Donations are easy; they're curbside, and during COVID you don't even have to get out of your car. From what I can tell, they take just about everything. I've also found some great items here (though like any thrift store, of course you have to do some searching.) Items are sorted pretty well by size, which makes sorting easier. Shirts are around $8, dresses are around $12. A few items seem priced bizarrely high, but most of the prices are pretty good, and I've gotten some nice items in great condition. I somehow always manage to find just what I'm looking for here! Check it out, as a shopper or a donator. read more

I love it!! sometimes they are a bit overpriced, however this place saved my life - when I had to move to Dallas during pandemic and after my ex stole all my furniture. Don't go unless you have a few hundred ready to spend right now because you will definitely find something you can use or many things. You gotta come here often to find good stuff. Most everything is over priced but what thrift store isn't nowadays? If you're donating, simply pull up and the staff quickly unloads your vehicle and provides you with a receipt. Staff is friendly and store is clean and organized. This is one of the best DFW thrift stores I have been to, in terms of the organization of apparel, the causes they stand behind, and the collection of the clothes and furniture. I love how community oriented many shops are, and this establishment is no exception. There is definitely a high regard to quality control, as nearly every item I picked up were in great condition. The price point was a little higher than normal consignment shops, but it's justified because of how good quality most of items were. I saw a variety of nice brands as well as the basics, which were all priced along a spectrum. If there's a particular style of clothing you're scoping out, chances are they're here, organized by color and material. Convenient thrifting at its finest :,) Certain days they have half-off sales on items like sweaters, shoes, men's and more. Any day you stop by you're sure to find some deal going on. This is one of the best thrift stores I've ever been to!! It's overwhelming how many hidden treasures they have but you just have to know where to look! It's MUCH bigger inside than you think. I found a few vintage designer tops in good condition but my best find was a real leather Fossil strap backpack for $30. THIRTY DOLLARS. Talk about an impulse buy, that was a steal. There's sooo many great finds in here! They're always adding to their inventory so there's always something *new* to browse through! Also, I think it's really important and amazing that they support Women's Shelters and children by offering a hotline and donations to those in need!! Everything here is ridiculously overpriced! Even thrifted items from Target are almost the price of what you'd pay for them new and these are used, stained, etc. The only hit or miss items are kids toys or small housewares items. Not recommended for good deals. The small selection of vintage items are never in good quality either. read more

I went here today and I will be back. I bought one dress and one Rhomper and a pair of kitten heels, there's a lot of clothes to look through so depending on time you may not get to see half of it. I'm into dresses and accessories so that's where I focused my time. I only had about 30 minutes so next time I will go with more time. Each dress was about $13 and the quality was good. read more

All you could want in a thrift store. Better than most others. Excellent place to find work clothes, or suits. This is a great resource for job interview clothes that you'd wear only twice or so. I was in town sourcing thrift items and was highly recommended to visit here. Nice items, reasonably priced for many things; some were overpriced. But you will find some higher end items. Very crowded, sales women very pleasant. I found it challenging to carry my two baskets around, and was directed to place in a basket under a table.. There has to be another way to handle customers who have multiple items. Thats not the way. It woukd also be nice to display any discounts so that all customers can see.
