I had six sessions with Suzan White. She was great and I loved her at the time. However my biggest issue is a problem with a parent. My mother left me when I was 14 for a man in Florida. This issue was treated as a minor mother daughter squam. When I said that I was abandoned, Susan brushed it off and said I could have moved with her. I also wasn't very happy with the small talk and her tendency to talk about herself. After being with a different counselor that tackles my biggest issue every session I don't know how I ever thought Suzan was great in the first place. She is an incredibly nice lady but the sessions seemed rushed and danced around the real issues. I did not like that at all. I am grateful for some of the things we've talked about but it is just nice to talk to a counselor that will help me solve my REAL problems and not talk about frivolous issues. read more

I was a patient at Genesis for over a year. I saw two different therapists, Gene Baboula and Dan (aoda Counsler.) I was also under the care of a N.P that prescribed my medications. My work with Gene was absolutely pointless and a waste of my time. I saw gene at least once a week and she never gave me any suggestions or taught me any coping skills to deal with my issues. I was briefly in an abusive relationship and Gene said that my ex-boyfriend was justified by everything he did. I asked her point blank many times for help and advice and all she would say to me is "it sounds like you have a lot of choices to make. It must be very stressful for you." I then asked if I could be switched to another counselor, because my time with Gene was wasted. I then started seeing Dan, who I absolutely adored. He was an amazing listener and gave me good feedback and was able to validate all of my feelings. I enjoyed my time with him. Unfortunately it was cut short because I left the Janesville area. My N.P is a wonderful woman and she is very caring and will go above and beyond for patients. I loved her. read more

Been at Genesis Counseling for about 4 months now and it seems like there is a major bias towards feminism throughout sessions. From the network resources to the outsourced groups, all female related. Even most of the books around the office have to deal with women issues and crisis that females go through. Most of the dialogues swayed to one side of being understood while the other side doesn't really get to express themselves, equality doesn't seem to be a concern. I'm all for the empowerment of both individuals but it seems to be consistently "One-Sided", I am very disappointed in the progress thus far. "Buyer Beware"....... read more
