It was a little confusing trying to figure out where to go but the reception of both buildings were great. I was recently seen in the SSM Neurology clinic for migraines after having to switch from a UW provider due to insurance change. I was incredibly impressed by the genuine care, attention to detail & time spent with me as a patient. Upbeat appointment start by the MA prior & superior care by Dr. Cristina Murphy. I was blown away by the amount of time she had prepped reading my past chart with notes taken & overall preparedness for my first appointment! This has not usually been my experience with past providers. She was genuinely compassionate & ready to try new options, as well as explained things my other providers had not. I'm really looking forward to working with her. She sent out new Rx's for approval & it was completed in 2 business days. Very pretty building. Nice, large (kid friendly) waiting room & easy check in/out (via reception or touchscreen). The only thing I'd change were that while I got a nice reminder text the day before, I got a call from (a very friendly) RN to come in a bit earlier for all of the new lengthy paperwork. I can't drive & had made my transportation plans around the time the text said the day before. It ended up being fine but it'd be nice if the automated system could work that in for the initial appointments! Otherwise I'm very happy with the care received.

I feared that I was facing a stroke and could be paralized at any moment. When I was ushered to my room on the 7th floor I was greeted by nurses and staff who quickly and efficiently worked to prepare me for the many tests I would receive. Nurses were giving me assurance as I was stuck with needles and tubes that were taped to my arms. Discs were stuck my chest. Nursing staff and doctors asked questions and were patient to listen to what I had to say. I'm 82 and am not knowledgeable to the many medical terms used but found I didn't have to know. Medical teams worked for 2 days to get to the correct diagnosis and now I am happy to be back home with my family. Thank you, Saint Mary's Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin!

My husband spent a month here recovering from a partial hip replacement, from March 31 to April 28,…read more2021. A nurse/administrator checked into the room and went over all the paperwork with us. This was early afternoon. I spent the rest of the day with him, until about 7PM, and he had an adequate meal, no other encounters inquiring about his needs. I returned the next morning to find him wearing the same clothes he came in with, no one had helped him to get ready for bed, his partial dentures were left in overnight! I was appalled! I tried to find someone in charge, and I was told by a rude and stressed CNA that they were short a nurse. HIs care over the next month was very uneven; the visiting rehab staff were great, and there were some wonderful CNAs (particularly the ones from Tibet/India) but the administration there was terrible. The facility itself was abysmal; the room though large, was not cleaned well or ofter, and the bathroom was inadequate: Small bowl toilet with a lift seat that was just plain unsanitary; there was no shower. He had to be taken down the hall to a shower room, and this happened twice a week if he was lucky. The building is old, and very much needing to be replaced. I felt that I had left my dear husband in a creepy 1950's motel. Do your loved one a favor and look for a better facility.

I worked at this facility for a 3-month assignment earlier this year- one that I extended by an additional month, as I was having such a great experience. I provided care on all floors. I have worked in healthcare facilities in 14 states and the team at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison, really stands out in terms of quality of care, dedication to patient well-being, safety, kindness and compassion. Also, loved the cafeteria food and the front desk staff. The rehab teams in particular deserve a huge shout out. The OT, PT and Speech Therapists are some of the most dedicated and well-trained therapists I've worked with across the country, providing prompt, personalized, evidence-based care. The Wound Care, Environmental, Respiratory, Pharmacy and Nursing teams are also top notch. The patients and families were a delight to care for and I was honored to be here. Well done to all at SSH Madison. You make a great team and you have so much to be proud of.

My mother has made such an impressive recovery while being cared for at Select Specialty Hospital…read morein Madison WI. She was able to have her tracheostomy reversed in less than 2 weeks. She is now receiving occupational, speech and physical therapy in their brand new acute rehabilitation section of the hospital. The nurses are caring and experts in their field The case managers ( Kate and Sue are on top of things , even the CEO of the company has made time to see my mom when I had concerns. I am extremely grateful for such a compassionate, high tech facility! Thank you Select Specialty Hospital for all of your efforts in nursing my mom back to health!!!

Dr. S attempted to help me, but I found the appointment…read more(first and only appointment) was rushed even though there was no one else at the office, the front desk lady was very rude (now they have new front desk staff who are incredibly kind and helpful even while I was upset, the young man there was very kind. but he is a relative to the Dr. and I can see he has had to deal with the Dr. personality and cleaning up his messes for a long time. the young man behind the front desk has my respect and I understand where he has been as I have had to clean up messes made by ignorant and hurtful personalities also.) As for the doctor himself, I did not feel safe in his hands and as someone who has been to chiropractors most of my childhood into my young adult years, this was the most scary, and most frustrating experience I've ever had. sharp objects brought to my face with no explanation of what they were, and when I took this to the better business bureau and dropped off documents explaining how records are to be released in Wisconsin, I was told that a patient's ignorance of his services is not the Doctors fault. maybe the Dr. and my personalities just clash, but as someone who is open to trying new things, I would absolutely NEVER recommend this chiro to someone I care for. Maybe someone I don't like very much...but even then I would be hesitant. My Google review has all the documentation if you wish to see more information on this matter. I hope the Dr. has adjusted his bedside manner and grown from this experience rather than create more uncomfortable situations for clients. We will just have to wait and see.
