My daughter passed on her first attempt and said that Ernesto clearly explained what is expected by the DMV when you take your driving test. Ernesto was my sons instructor and he was very kind on the phone and in person but he didn't give my son proper training. When we reach out to him we explained that my son had a driving test coming up and we wanted to make sure he got proper training due to the fact that my sons has never drove a motor vehicle before. My son failed his test and wasn't able to even drive because he didn't teach him anything about any function on a vehicle. When I reach out he was very rude. My daughter Sabina had Ernesto as an instructor and she loved him. She always looked forward to her lessons and always came back with new skills. I shadowed a lesson and he was very patient with her. I just dodged a bullet. I called to find out if there's room this month. I get a lady. she says yes and takes time to look and gives me a day. Then she says she's in the car giving a lesson, she ll text me the info. I find it odd that she s picking up on someone else's time and money. Later she calls back I didn't pick up. I get her text. I m thinking her lesson is over. I call back And she's still in the middle of the same lesson but she's picking up. Later we text again and I ask if tomorrow she thinks she ll be on the phone with other potentials or will she be concentrated on teaching me because it's time I ll pay for. I am very conflicted with this review, I'd like to start of by saying Ernesto was a great driving instructor. However, it was hard to be excited about my newly earned license when he recorded me being proud; then immediately after asked for another 100$ for taking me to my test (which he made sound like was included in our 300$ agreement). Then followed my mom to the atm to make sure he got it. This experience left a sour feeling toward a previously great one and made me feel taken advantage of being we had to take the new payment out of our house payment, and neither one of us have much money to begin with. When I told him how I felt, he responded with "why would you think it would be free?". This place was shady to say the least. If you choose them, make sure you ask clear questions about pricing and fees so you aren't surprised when they ask for more. Also, he would make me run errands as part of our "lessons" by picking his family up and ubering them to where they needed to be. There's better places out there. I feel scammed. read more

Completely satisfied. I just passed my test written and behind the wheel with no errors! They have been doing this for a long time and the professionalism shows in every aspect. Always on time, easy to learn , the car feels 100% safe; and it has controls for the instructor so he can stop or accelerate in case of emergency. The classes are 2 hours and he knows how to split the time to explain everything , he draws in a board he has in the car so for you is clear to understand, and he explains step by step what DMV is looking for .. is just really good, call them and ask for Ernesto! read more

Ernesto did a wonderful job working with our son. We did the three mandatory lessons with him. But then we also hired him to give our son more lessons. Due to my husband and I not feeling safe driving with our teenager. We would be too critical on our son which made him nervous. Ernesto drove with our teenager until he felt like he was ready to take his driver's test with DMV. Also, loved that Ernesto made the appointment with DMV for us. My 2nd son just finished his 3rd driving session and I am pleased, yet again with Genesis! The driver instructor was very helpful in teaching my son how to drive, showing him how to shift lanes, turn correctly, and how to understand street signs. I am sorry I do not recommend this place either. Avoid them at all costs. First of all they take cash or check only. Second of all the woman that owns the place, very rarely if ever answer his phone calls or messages. Number three. She is barely intelligible. Very hard to understand not only over the phone but in person. My daughter had an extremely difficult time understanding what she was saying. She was told to sit down be quiet and do as her told. Very rude lady. No kind words to share. During the course of the driving lesson she would run her errands. Frequently stopping at places like McDonald's for lunch. Taking 20 to 25 minutes out of my daughters driving time. Not only does this not fulfill the requirement of six hours driving with an instructor, but it is extremely unprofessional. There were times when my daughter was left alone in a car at the Masters college, or at gas stations. I am disgusted. I paid $300 for a service that wasn't rendered and there is nothing I can do about it because I didn't pay with a credit card... Maybe that is why she doesn't take credit cards... Stay away from Genesis Driving School. 3 days later --- I am going to scream. I just got off the phone and ended up having to hang up on the driving school because the woman - Carmen - kept laughing at me. Please do not use genesis driving school and spread the word these are the worst driving instructors god ever put on the earth. read more

august 5th 2020 - as of today, the business number for Genesis is not even in service. I got a hold of "Ernesto" through the phone and I didn't even get any information and vice versa, he only asked for my daughter's name and only wanted to make an appointment. the first time he took my 17 year old out to drive, he was 30 minutes late but claimed that he took my daughter driving for 2 hours but really only about 45 minutes. I told him that he needed to teach my daughter on the next driving session for 2 1/2 hours to make up for the first day. all he said was he is sorry because he had to take another student to DMV who was taking a behind the wheel driving test. so i forgave him for that. we went ahead and agreed on taking her for a second session of driving lessons for august 4th at 130 pm. after a few hours Ernesto asked if we can change it to 1030 am i said ok. august 4th came at 1030, no show again. called him at 1040 am and asked if he was running late. Ernesto sounded like he didn't know what i was talking about and claimed that he thought it was for august 5th. i told him that i will no longer be needing his services. Genesis Driving is shady, unprofessional and irresponsible by allowing their driver instructors to be this disorganized. Genesis Driving school is a total scam and an epic fail. I enrolled my daughter today at Right Way Driving school. read more

Hey, to all the reviews freaking out. Carmen does just fine, she does have an accent but we live in Southern California, if you aren't used to Hispanic accents it may be on you. At first she does have to be strict but her life is in your hands. By the second lesson you will have good conversation and it is more relaxing, so please ignore the complaints of some of the other yelpers. It was worth it and they don't charge as high as the other driving schools. He was very thorough and detailed. My 17 year old daughter started her driving lessons with no experience behind the wheel of a vehicle. She told me that Ernesto was a great instructor and felt very comfortable when she was driving. Ernesto is very patient and takes the time to explain the errors that she makes so that she does not repeat them on her drivers test. My niece had a terrible experience with Carmen. The first 45 minutes of her driving lesson we're sitting in a hot car in a parking lot going over driving instruction with a paper and pencil. My niece drove for just a fraction of the time I paid for. Carmen was rude and unprofessional. When my niece got home she was in tears and totally stressed out. He makes you book sessions every week, eats up your class time by using the bathroom for every session every time. Yells at you saying you suck and if you even want to get your license. Belittled you even though you're the one paying for the service. He asked me "whats wrong with you" "do you even want to get your license, act like it" and yelled at me in the harshest tone. Charges you double the amount for driving lessons just to take you to the driving test. Ernesto and Carmen are the worst and unprofessional, he treats you horrible and corrects you in the harshest manner. Don't go to this school, I don't know how they stay in business. He's almost very harassing as he constantly question my nationality and made rude remarks, on the last lesson he never taught me how to back up or park. He just made me hover over the curb. Got my California driving license the first try! He is a great teacher. Tough sometimes, but he takes time and make sure you understand the rules. He does say "do you want your license" sometimes, but I don't think he means to make you feel bad or anything. He just want you to know that if you want the license you have to do the DMV way. Every time when he is reaching for the wheel he will let me know which I think is really professional and polite. The pick up and drop off service is also convenience. after two failed attempts of getting my license i finally called this school up and it was not a mistake. They have a true desire to have their customers pass the driving test and i really felt it. Ive been over the driving pamphlet dozens of times but still learned new things from the instructors here. I appreciate how you are always set up with the same instructor so that they know how you're coming along and they analyze your strengths and weaknesses to help your driving improve even more. Ernesto gave driving lessons to my 16-years old daughter who had never driven a car before. The first lesson with him was literally the first driving experience for her. Instructor was so rude. I did not like my experience with this school. I know others that had great experiences and took their tests and passed, but I switched to a different school that was right for me because this was not a great fit. The instructor, I believe was named Carmen, but I'm not totally sure, she insisted I get picked up from McDonald's so that they could eat breakfast first and when I told them that I couldn't get there, they told me to get a ride and gave me a hard time about picking me up, when pick ups were actually the selling point for me. While driving, the instructor taught things that were not relevant to driving or to the test, and when I did not master a technique it was met with cynicism and I drove around with her asking me if I had common sense. Very negative. I was so discouraged, I didn't trust myself on the road. I am actually a really great driver and they made me feel like I was the worst. I wouldn't want anyone else to feel like that, but then again, I also know others that have used this school and benefited. I've now passed my test extremely successfully without missing any points from my test, no thanks to Genesis Driving School. read more

I can only give Genesis one star. It sounded very promising, however Ernesto's poor communication and customer service was shocking. He was supposed to arrive at my home at 4:30 to give my son a lesson. He never showed up, and said he tried to text him to confirm an hour earlier. My son's phone was on the charger, we were never told that was the protocol and told us that " it was our problem". The most unprofessional service in a very long time. We hired Ernesto for one session for my 19 year old son. My son learned what he needed in order to pass the DMV behind the wheel. He focused on what I felt he needed assistance. After the lesson he went over with my son what to expect. Additionally he called me to brief me on how the session went. The day of the test he followed up to see how he did. My son just took his drivers test and passed with a very high score. Not really sure why anyone has had problems. Ernie has been amazing! I personally liked paying as you go. Loved this instructor so much we did 3 extra lessons. Ernie always texted me back and called me back when I asked. He was always on time to pick up my son. I love that they let you use their car for the test. My son really liked driving with him and learned a lot. Also made me feel a lot more comfortable since I had to be the passenger while my son was driving me around town to get all those required hours.
