I drove for the first time ever with mario I only had one lesson with him There was no student driver sticker on the car which was a little concerning I think his accent was a little hard to understand at sometimes while giving directions, which was a bit of a concern because obviously you have to be able to communicate well with your instructor while you're on the road. When I called to make his final session appointment, we learned that Mario moved states and another instructor named Ramiro took over his clients. I was in shock at first but after communicating with Ramiro, he made the transition very easy. He gets back to you promptly and arrived at our house on time. He was 2 hours late for our first lesson. Shows up in a beat up Toyota - like seriously old, dirty and dented car. The car doesn't have any signs that say "student driver" nothing. The picture that's included in Yelp shows a young man, but he appears to be more like 70. There was no chance we were going to let our daughter in a car with this guy. Mario trained each of my three daughters how to drive. He helped them learn the Newhall driving course and prepared them well for their tests. The girls received scores of 98, 99 and 99-each passing on their first attempt. He is a fabulous instructor and will teach you how to get your license. It also helped that his rates were HALF of what the large companies charged. He charges $270 for six hours of training. Definitely worth the money. Always on time, too! read more

I am a new 16 year old beginner driver. He was an amazing instructor for my lesson and made conversation the entire way so I was not uncomfortable or nervous. He also took me on route for what would be on the drivers test. Overall, he's an amazing instructor who allows you to go at your own pace and gives you time in advance before transitioning to lanes or turning. Started my teen with Drivers Ed Direct. They were difficult to schedule with so I opted to have my son complete his behind the wheel with Mario. I should have used Mario sooner. Scheduling was easy. He was also less expensive. I really liked the guy. He was really knowledgeable and actually gave my son useful training. When training was complete, he asked that we let him know if my son passed. Mario was an excellent instructor. He taught my son all that was needed for his test and was very accommodating with our schedule. Quick to get back on questions or scheduling. He prepared my son for the Newhall DMV but we ended up taking the test in Landcaster. But he still passed! So no matter where you take the test, I think Mario prepares you well. Mario is a great instructor for new drivers. He has many years of experience as an instructor and is really professional. He was never late on the appointments we had as he picked me from my house for driving lessons. He told me everything that was required for driving. He was very patient and explained rules and techniques carefully. I never drove a car, so I was very nervous in the beginning but Mario's calm and friendly nature made me really comfortable. I did a lot of mistakes in the beginning but he never yelled at me, but helped me work on my weak points. This way, I gained a lot of confidence and finally got my driving license. I liked that he gave a lot of feedback, pointing out things that I did well or that I could improve on. He provided me with practical tips and answered my questions thoroughly. This comes from someone who started out with fear of the Road. I have always been a bundle of nerves even when it came to being driven by someone else........yeah, I know it sounds silly. This, however, is now history. Can't believe that I now find driving a pleasure and truly owe this and my independence to Mario. Mario was referred to me by a couple of friends who too had taken lessons from him. He makes you feel completely at ease from the moment you take to the wheel. This man is the Phil Jackson of driving teachers. Calm, collected, and he knows what he's doing. He teaches for the test and teaches how to drive which, let me tell you, are two different things. In three lessons i went from having never driven on the road, not knowing about blind spots, and barley being able to use turn signals to passing the driving test no problem. Mario is an excellent driving instructor!! I passed my driving test with a perfect score (zero mistakes) at the Newhall DMV after just 5 hours of driving lessons with him. He really built up my confidence. I hadn't driven in over 15 years and had very little experience to begin with, and he built my confidence up so much after just the first lesson (I am 33 years old). We also went on the freeway during my first lesson, which was really great to help conquer my fears (I have always been very afraid of freeway driving). I highly recommend Mario to people of all age groups who need practice with driving and help passing the DMV driving test. Trust me you will not be disappointed! Had Mario teach my daughter the ropes to get her license a few weeks ago, and waited to see if she nailed it on the first time before posting my review here, and sure enough, she did! Mario is very patient and has a great sense of humor and she enjoyed his instruction very much! Gave her exactly the tips she would have to know to pass! Very reasonably priced, too, I might add!! Comes to your house for pick up and drop off conveniently. If you find yourself or someone you know who needs to get this done, I very, very highly recommend that you call him! Just a slam-dunk!
