The entire experience from scheduling to the preparation to the actual appointment including aftercare was seamless and simple. Yes you must get an appointment months in advance, but you can possibly get a walk in as well. I booked mine three months out but I also had a 5 hour piece of art. Dooner was exceptional and handled my anxiety like a champ. I felt comfortable the entire time other than the first tattoo jitters I'm sure most go through. They have a range of options, including gold, diamond, and cubic zirconia. A friendly lady at the front will guide you through all the jewelry options. I chose this place because of its cute, dainty jewelry, which is perfect if you like smaller pieces. The process is straightforward: you pay separately for the piercing and the jewelry. The piercing itself is $60, and you'll need to buy the stud or back piece, which costs an additional $18. The jewelry ranges from $85 and up. My final cost was around $300 for a genuine gold piece with a real diamond. The studio was clean, and the piercer was incredibly knowledgeable, laid-back, and easy to talk to. I'm already planning my next visit and looking forward to getting another piercing. We even mapped out my ear for future piercings!

He makes you feel really calm and less nervous when getting the actual piercing too, which I appreciate a lot. I've gotten pierced here on two separate days and have had great experiences with him both times. He also works really fast, so you're in and out with a new piercing pretty quickly. Piercing prices are honestly really reasonable for the quality and service you're getting. My friend's piercing fell out after she got it done here and she came back and they helped her put it back in safely. No complaints here! PSA they do 2 piercings for the price of 1 on Tuesdays, but the wait can get REALLY long since everyone and their mom shows up on that day for the deal. Would advise going earlier to secure your spot if you're going on Tuesday, otherwise you'll make the piercing guy stay hours past closing :( The waiting area inside is pretty limited (only a few couches) so if it's really crowded you might have to leave and come back. Also Sushi Kim 2 right next door is the perfect place for dinner if you're waiting for your piercing during dinner time. It's some of the best sushi and Korean food in the city. The prices were great as well - I paid $50 for my second lobe piercings (both the service and jewelry) but honestly, I would have paid more just because it was such a blast to talk to him. My friend paid $35 for her cartilage piercing, which is by far the best price for miles around. Luckily, none of us passed out, peed, or did both in quick succession. I attempt to allay his fears by noting that I have done many of my own piercings but this one is in a difficult area (Lower back). I offer to pay a handsome premium for ONE piercing. I offered $200 (normally 50-80 dependent on where you go and placement) Instead of accommodating a client (who has done many of their own piercings with no complications, and I DID explain this) the piercer chose the immature reaction and *hung up* on a potential client. *** Your mileage may vary but I would be wary of a piercer that gets emotive enough to just hang up with zero warning. *** Bad business practices. Poor customer service. It is not surprising that the vast majority of businesses in this line of service do not last and eventually close. The one star was well earned.

He will tell you if you don't have the proper anatomy for a piercing which is a GOOD thing. A couple of weeks after I had my tragus pierced, it got snagged in my hair and pulled out. My daughter and I desperately tried to get it back in, but only made it so much worse and more swollen. I called Tom and he told me to come in. He got it back in and gave me some instructions to help the damaged me and my daughter did. He told me to call him in a week or two with an update. Between my daughter and I we have about 15 piercings that were done by Tom. They all healed beautifully. I send everyone I know to Tom and they have the same experiences we have. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Reposting from Google because I don't think my other review is warning enough people about the…read morepiercer's incompetence here: Went in for a double helix piercing on the recommendation of a coworker who'd had nipples done and loved her experience. Wish I could say the same for mine. I didn't realize until I went home and was shopping for replacement jewelry how much was wrong with my new piercings. First issue: he pierced my helix at 20G (no discussion prior, and they "don't stock jewelry" so I had no choice in the matter) and EVERYTHING you will find online says it should be 16 - 18 at minimum - to prevent tearing/cheese cutter/rejection in such a sensitive area. Secondly, he applied butterfly backs to close them!! They're a huge infection risk and don't allow enough room for post-piercing swelling. By day 3 I was in agony, the backing was fully pushing against my skin and it was ANGRY. I went to another piercer to have the jewelry swapped out for what it should have been in the first place - 18G titanium threadless. Thirdly, he recommends soap and water with q-tips to clean, when the standard recommendation is sterile saline. Antibacterial soap is too harsh on freshly pierced skin and apparently leads to more irritation. The other piercer told me Tom used to have a great reputation in the area, but that lately they've been getting more and more people coming to get his mistakes fixed at their shop. I would firmly NOT recommend getting pierced here. Now that the swelling has gone down, it's easy to see how HORRIBLY PLACED these piercings are - they're pointing fully under the curve of the ear! I don't even know if I'll be able to put hoops in these without them hitting the ridge instead. If only there were a license for piercers - Tom should lose his if there was! Added on months later: Since the healing process is several months along now and there isn't any more swelling on my ear, it's very easy to see just how badly pierced this helix was. One piercing completely rejected. The one I'm left with faces at a downward angle, and is completely hidden by the curve of the cartilage when viewed from a normal profile angle. It's unusable, and has to be taken out. I was never contacted by the shop OR the piercer following this review to offer to repierce or refund or ANYTHING: they clearly just don't give a shit about the quality of work they put out there in the world. What a waste of my time and pain and attention in keeping it cared for.

I honestly have gotten better pedicures at smaller nail places like the one in Settler's Ridge and off University Blvd. near Tropical Smoothie Cafe. For $90, I was looking for wars to an extended foot massage and massage chairs, both of which did not happen. You have to climb up onto the chairs and it's incredibly awkward. They do not have a lot of options when it comes to color, and not the usual OPI, Essie, etc. Overall, it gets 2 stars because my nail tech was nice enough, but not incredibly friendly. It smelled good and they had fun piano versions of pop songs playing. For $40 plus tip, it wasn't worth it. I won't be going back and will stick to the places I mentioned above!

Mandy could definitely hang with the best of them on Fifth or Madison Ave. Trust me, there's not a better stylist or colorist in the Pittsburgh area. Are there any who as good as she is? Possibly, but definitely not better. FYI girls, she also has a cut she calls "the fake trim," where she literally takes off the absolute bare minimum if you're trying to keep your length! On top of all that, Mandy is not a diva -- if you don't like something after she is done, if you tell her she will fix it on the spot, no questions asked nor attitude. After many recommendations and amazing reviews, my husband and I took the trip (about 45ish min) to go see Zack to get my nipples pierced! I have 5 tattoos and (now) 7 piercings and can honestly say I have never been to a shop where i felt instantly welcomed and extremely comfortable! Zack is an all around awesome guy who is amazing at what he does! He has a way at just making you feel so at ease and confident through the whole process! I have been putting off getting my nips pierced for over 2 years because I was so scared of someone messing them up, I'm so thankful I did wait and was able to have the best artist in PA do them! I have had very little to no pain since getting them done, we went yesterday (Sat 26th), the process was extremely comfortable and not painful at all, I woke up this morning a little sore but that went away after a little while and have had no pain at all since! Ladies, I know some might be nervous about having a guy do any "intimate" piercings, but I promise you, every single moment of my time being there was perfect! He is extremely professional while being super personal and just an all around awesome person/artist! It was honestly just an all around amazing experience, I seriously have not stopped smiling since going to the shop!! Not to mention the jewelry selection is out of this world (!!!), the shop is the cleanest shop I have ever been into and his sterilization process is like something I've never seen before! The studio is immaculate, you walk in and immediately "it smells so good in here!" I had the pleasure of chatting with Laney while I awaited my piercer, she's an absolute peach of a person. I went in pretty anxious (this is just my baseline, nothing to do with the studio or piercing) and by the time Alayna took me back, I was amped. I have a lot of loose skin after a 200+ pound weightloss so getting the markings right can be a challenge. she didn't make me feel for a second like my body was an inconvenience and I was so comfortable in her chair. She marked me for my piercings standing up, to see where my skin naturally sits which was a huge accommodation that most others I've been to over the years hadn't thought of- hense the fact that I've never had the piercing last more than a few days before having a raging infection. I already know between the quality of the jewelry and the mindfulness of my piercer, this will be the one that heals and I'll enjoy it thoroughly! I even asked for a cold bottle of water to hold as it's one of my anxiety ticks and she didn't question it and got one right away for me! Worth every penny. Please note, this is not a budget studio. They do have a pretty wide price range so it can fit your budget I'm sure, but don't go in if you're expecting Claires prices. You get what you pay for! My wife took our daughter here today, and her review is below. I'll only add that from our daughter's stud-to-stud grin when she came home, I couldn't agree more with everything my wife said. My daughter is almost 10 and decided she wanted to get her ears pierced. I spoke with Zach a couple months ago and felt sure this was the place to go. After waiting for her to ask several more times so I was sure she wanted to do this, we went in today. She gets overwhelmed and struggles with anxiety and definitely had a hard time staying calm. I suspect it was one of the "harder" piercings Zach has done, in terms of the customer cooperating. That said, I so deeply appreciate how much he reinforced with her that this was completely her choice, that her active consent was required, and that if she said "stop" three times, he wouldn't be willing to continue for the day. He reassured her about every worry she had, including the line of people stacking up outside. But he was absolutely clear that it's up to her. He also was perceptive and empathetic enough to tell that she was working herself up and needed a distraction. He was creative in his approach to her, patient, kind, and somehow got both ears perfectly aligned despite her position tucked up into me. In summary, I would never go any place else and I can't recommend his shop strongly enough to parents for their kids! read more

I was searching for a different piercing place to go to after having problems with a re-piercing from Up and Arms Tattoo. I originally got my ears pierced at Infinite in Philadelphia by Anne York in August who did an amazing job, but one of my posts got stuck in my ear because it was too short, so when I came to Pittsburgh so I went to Up and Arms. Completely oblivious to what real jewelry looked like, the woman replaced my post with a longer one, I paid them, and left. A couple months later, I wondered why my ear still hurt and found something growing around my post. So I went to Z Watson's Piercing shop which had amazing reviews, they deserve nothing less, to get my irritation checked out. I walked in to see Zack and Allyx and they took great care of me. The area was clean, and everyone was professional, experienced and friendly. They asked me questions and I told them I got the post at Up and Arms, which they explained made sense. They took the fungus off of my ear that was around the post and explained to me what knock off jewelry and real jewelry looked like. Zack and Allyx gave me excellent service, fixed my problem, and taught me the importance of using high quality services for piercings. I recommend them to anyone looking to get a piercing! read more

I wish there were more than 5 stars to rate this place. 5 doesn't do it justice. I had a triple forward helix, daith and helix done all in one sitting. 5 piercings. And Zack was absolutely amazing. I went in knowing what I wanted done but not how to make it look its best. Zack helped me pick out the perfect piece for each piercing that looked gorgeous on its own, but still looked great with the other 4 pieces as well. His shop is clean, and very organized. He only uses the best quality jewelry. After we had the jewelry picked out, he talked me through the entire process. What he does to clean the jewelry, the equipment he uses, aftercare. I was very impressed. Through the process of actually doing the piercings, he would stop and make sure I was ok after each one, see if I needed a break, explain what he was doing as he was doing it. He was so nice, so friendly, and was talkative, which helped keep my mind off the needle going through my ear. And the thing that impressed me the most was that he had other clients show up while we were in the middle of doing my ear, and he never rushed. His demeanor never changed. I went today for a couple of piercings, including an intimate piercing. I could not be more impressed. From the moment I walked in to the time I left the professionalism was unmatched. The girls were so helpful picking out jewelry, giving me cost breakdowns and making me feel less nervous. The piercings could not have gone more smoothly either. Zack was so accommodating and let me bring a friend and asked if I would feel more comfortable with another staff member joining as well because I was getting an intimate piercing. He was so professional the entire time and answered any and all questions I had regardless how "silly" they may have been. I was SHOCKED with how easy and quick the piercings were. I went in expecting some serious pain but it was so easy zack was so smooth and quick I barely felt anything. He sanitized every instrument in front of me and walked me through and showed me the spore testing they do every week. I will ALWAYS come here for any piercing and jewelry needs. This place is overall very good but I only have a few complaints. And accidents happen all the time please do not take my review as your "oh this place sucks" attitude to Genisys. I went to this place with my best friend while visiting my home town. I got a nostril and septum piercing, the nostril went smoothly, didn't feel a thing besides the jewelry switch! My septum however, it would have went smoothly had my tissue not rolled during the jewelry switch. I'm a bleeder too! Worst pain I've EVER felt but me and the piercer both took responsibility for our wrong doings, he was very respectful. His name is Zach! He's such a chill, funny guy! And because of all the trouble he gave me a little 3D Printed Dragon fidget! The vibe is just chill, besides all the negative that happened it's a fantastic place! Mistakes happen y'all!!!! Man let me tell you this place is so clean and friendly! The owner and worker by far the friendliest , cleanest place I've been to. I flew in from Boston, Ma to get my tongue bifurcation done , I was excited and nervous , he had another customer before me and he did his thing with that customer , and must I say that customer Was excited and happy with his work!, once done boom my turn came and all my nervousness went away, ask me what tunes I'd like to listen to before getting it done I kept the same Zen vibes he was playing when I entered the shop, everything was sterile and ready to go, before you know it we started and was done , I was super amped and excited with my new tongue ^_^, he made me feel at home and welcomed , as customers came in they left out happy , I must say this is a beautiful great establishment for piercing and body modifications hands down!!! My daughter wanted her nose pierced for her birthday. We actually went to a different place at first, not for any particular reason. There place felt dirty, smelled and the lady who was going to pierce her was wiping her nose with her gloves on......we left! Then we found this gem in sewickley, Genesis. You walk in to this fresh, clean modern space with such friendly welcoming staff Immediately greeting you with a friendly smile. The place is beautiful. The jewlery selection is beyond impressive for all financial ranges. The jewlery you choose is sterilized and the piercing process itself. I couldn't be happier with this business. Nothing but good things to say about Zack and his business . Super awesome guy him and his apprentice are exactly what you should expect walking into any reputable piercing studio . Zack is a good buddy of mine and a fellow piercer who does great work I drove 10 hours one way from Boston to get my second set of horns done , not because he's a friend but because he knows what he is doing ( if his work sucked I'd go somewhere else friend or not) . His studio is top of the line , jewelry selection is gorgeous and all American made implant grade metals ( titanium, gold etc) . His methods are on point his speed is insane with a great attitude. I made the appointment via email and went smoothly and really accommodated my request. The shop is in a nice area with good parking. I walked in and the place was very clean. The artist was very professional, explained everything to me. He listened to my concerns and addressed them. I was really impressed by the sanitation of the area that he works. I've had this same piercing done a few years ago and it was painful. I couldn't believe how fast and how gentle he was. I was totally amazed and kept thanking him. He really knows the business well and treats his customers with great professionalism and wonderful manners. Definitely recommend and will be back! I took my daughter to get her ears pierced for the first time. I knew I wanted to go to a professional that wasn't located in a pagoda in the middle of a mall. After calling a few places, I decided with Genesis because of their excellent ratings. When I arrived the owner was extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and professional. They helped us to find jewelry that my daughter liked that was in my price point. Despite some (and by some, I mean a lot of) nerves, they were so patient with her. She left smiling from pierced ear to pierced ear. Major bonus points because they care about CONSENT!!! Her body, her timing, her consent. I cannot recommend them enough! read more

Zack the owner of this shop is wonderful. Zack takes care of his customers. The environment of the shop is very calm. I recently got an intimate piercing done here. I really love it. This shop is one of the cleanest shops that I have been to. His sterilization machine made me feel safe. The factor that he used sterile glove and not the black gloves was a plus for me. He knew a lot about the jewelry and the process was flaws. I know some women don't like to get pierced by men. I don't either. Zack made me feel comfortable with the process. He told me everything that he was doing before he did it. Zack is the BEST. I will refer everyone I know to this shop. read more

My 13 year old daughter has been begging me to get her ears pierced. The shop was immaculate. Their sanitizing process is hands down the best. The actual piercing process was quick. Zach is amazing. The price of the jewelry is expensive, but the quality is worth the price. We went back and had the piercing downsized as per the schedule that they gave us. While the shop was busy, the wait wasn't very long and again, the process was quick. It has been such a great experience with my daughter that I think I'm ready to go and have mine done there as my piercings have been closed for many years now. I decided to get my nostril pierced on a whim and after researching several places I came across Genisys Body Arts. There is ample paid parking in the back of the building which I always find as a plus when traveling down to Sewickley. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted and received assistance on picking out my jewelry. I only had to wait a short time before I went back to see Zach. He made the experience very comfortable and I felt little to no pain during the piercing. I trusted him on placement of the piercing and I am glad I did - it looks perfect. Zack is incredibly professional and makes his clients feel exceedingly comfortable. Had a jewelry change and an NFC microchip implant from him. He kindly followed up on the implant to make sure the healing process was okay, and he's helped me with ongoing questions I've had - esp. considering the progressive and technological nature of the NFC chip. His workspace is clean and comfortable, and he opens and sterilizes everything in front of clients, including the jewelry I ordered and brought myself. Just to be sure. I came in looking to get a conch piercing and was given great advice as to what jewelry to get as well as tips on placement in order to replace the jewelry with a ring once it's healed. I also asked about a potential daith piercing infection / irritation and was able to get tips to help clear it up. I also decided to change my jewelry since my original ring was irritating my skin. Even though the prices are more on the expensive side, it's well worth the money because of the amazing quality jewelry, expertise of the piercer, and the sterilization and cleanliness of the studio. I came in today to get my nose pierced as well as my daith. I was a walk-in and immediately the front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful and accommodating. The studio is absolutely beautiful and super clean. They have an awesome selection of jewelry... I honestly wanted everything! Zack did an amazing job on my piercings. He was efficient and obviously very good at his job. He made me feel very comfortable and was so friendly and knowledgeable. Best piercing studio ever! I am so happy with the experience I had. I have over 15 piercings and have tried many different shops over the years. After my first visit at Genisys Body Arts, I will never go anywhere else again. The staff is very knowledgeable and also personable. Their friendliness made me feel more at comfort. The studio itself is beautifully decorated. I also had them look at a piercing I had done somewhere else which was not healing properly. They were able to save it by providing me with a longer bar and higher quality metal. If you're debating, this is your sign, 10/10 recommend. read more

He will tell you if you don't have the proper anatomy for a piercing which is a GOOD thing. A couple of weeks after I had my tragus pierced, it got snagged in my hair and pulled out. My daughter and I desperately tried to get it back in, but only made it so much worse and more swollen. I called Tom and he told me to come in. He got it back in and gave me some instructions to help the damaged me and my daughter did. He told me to call him in a week or two with an update. Between my daughter and I we have about 15 piercings that were done by Tom. They all healed beautifully. I send everyone I know to Tom and they have the same experiences we have. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Reposting from Google because I don't think my other review is warning enough people about the…read morepiercer's incompetence here: Went in for a double helix piercing on the recommendation of a coworker who'd had nipples done and loved her experience. Wish I could say the same for mine. I didn't realize until I went home and was shopping for replacement jewelry how much was wrong with my new piercings. First issue: he pierced my helix at 20G (no discussion prior, and they "don't stock jewelry" so I had no choice in the matter) and EVERYTHING you will find online says it should be 16 - 18 at minimum - to prevent tearing/cheese cutter/rejection in such a sensitive area. Secondly, he applied butterfly backs to close them!! They're a huge infection risk and don't allow enough room for post-piercing swelling. By day 3 I was in agony, the backing was fully pushing against my skin and it was ANGRY. I went to another piercer to have the jewelry swapped out for what it should have been in the first place - 18G titanium threadless. Thirdly, he recommends soap and water with q-tips to clean, when the standard recommendation is sterile saline. Antibacterial soap is too harsh on freshly pierced skin and apparently leads to more irritation. The other piercer told me Tom used to have a great reputation in the area, but that lately they've been getting more and more people coming to get his mistakes fixed at their shop. I would firmly NOT recommend getting pierced here. Now that the swelling has gone down, it's easy to see how HORRIBLY PLACED these piercings are - they're pointing fully under the curve of the ear! I don't even know if I'll be able to put hoops in these without them hitting the ridge instead. If only there were a license for piercers - Tom should lose his if there was! Added on months later: Since the healing process is several months along now and there isn't any more swelling on my ear, it's very easy to see just how badly pierced this helix was. One piercing completely rejected. The one I'm left with faces at a downward angle, and is completely hidden by the curve of the cartilage when viewed from a normal profile angle. It's unusable, and has to be taken out. I was never contacted by the shop OR the piercer following this review to offer to repierce or refund or ANYTHING: they clearly just don't give a shit about the quality of work they put out there in the world. What a waste of my time and pain and attention in keeping it cared for.

Be the judge of my experience. I made an appointment to get two sets of earLOBE piercings. The…read morereason I made the appointment was the week prior I brought my dad in for an earlobe piercing. His earlobe was pierced with a stud. So when I went in I fully expected to get studs...I did not. First I knew I offended her when I made a comment about cheap jewelry but I was referring to fragile acrylic balls. Something told me to leave but like an idiot I stayed. On my left ear the third ring sits on an angle due to the way it was pierced. On my right ear I noticed a difference in the ring sizes and had it confirmed that one ring was 8mm and the other 10mm. But my genuine question is why the differences in your protocol. You wouldn't put a big ring in an infant or toddlers ears. Healing is much more difficult with hoops-I've had lots of near misses with a brush. New place I visited said flat back studs should have been used. I could tell she wasn't interested in seeing the cutesy ideas I had for my ears but I listened with feigned interest about how she can afford fancy meal kits. I made an appointment to see an APP piercer who said they'll fix me up once healed. I wasn't going for a gauged look. Bottom line to all those reading. Ask if the shop is registered APP. Write down all your questions and get it in writing if you have to. Ask if the business follows set protocols or I just got unlucky because she didn't care for me because I don't fit the profile of a piercing fanatic. In fact one piercer told me "if the piercer tells you it HAS to be done a certain way walk out immediately. I still tipped and I wish I hadn't. I don't like writing negative reviews because a business owners livelihood depends on customers. Please don't let a piercer tell you it's their way or the highway. In fact the reason I didn't say anything while still in the chair was fear of being kicked out of the shop as noted in other reviews which have since been removed by the business owner. As have the other negative reviews. From experience I can tell you there are options where you won't be at the mercy of a piercer.
