With that said; here are some insights that may be helpful: 1) You can see by the examples I've attached, he takes pride in his craft. Great detail work/realism and a good knack for placing tattoos in the proper place. 2) Pricing was always fair. You get what you pay for - quality work done with quality ink in a sanitary environment. 3) John has always kept to his schedule and was always ready to start tattooing upon my arrival to his shop. Sessions for large pieces go from anywhere between 3-4 hours. 4) his shop is clean and his tattoo area is organized. He always sanitizes the area you are getting tattooed before, during, and after the tattoo. 5) John has a great personality - we got a long great from the get go. He's super easy to talk to. 6) His shop is consistently booked so be patient getting a time slot booked. That was the first thing that shocked me - how far out he is usually booked; sometimes months. It's worth the wait though! In conclusion, I definitely recommend going here if you're looking for a tattoo artist in the Butler area.

Reposting from Google because I don't think my other review is warning enough people about the…read morepiercer's incompetence here: Went in for a double helix piercing on the recommendation of a coworker who'd had nipples done and loved her experience. Wish I could say the same for mine. I didn't realize until I went home and was shopping for replacement jewelry how much was wrong with my new piercings. First issue: he pierced my helix at 20G (no discussion prior, and they "don't stock jewelry" so I had no choice in the matter) and EVERYTHING you will find online says it should be 16 - 18 at minimum - to prevent tearing/cheese cutter/rejection in such a sensitive area. Secondly, he applied butterfly backs to close them!! They're a huge infection risk and don't allow enough room for post-piercing swelling. By day 3 I was in agony, the backing was fully pushing against my skin and it was ANGRY. I went to another piercer to have the jewelry swapped out for what it should have been in the first place - 18G titanium threadless. Thirdly, he recommends soap and water with q-tips to clean, when the standard recommendation is sterile saline. Antibacterial soap is too harsh on freshly pierced skin and apparently leads to more irritation. The other piercer told me Tom used to have a great reputation in the area, but that lately they've been getting more and more people coming to get his mistakes fixed at their shop. I would firmly NOT recommend getting pierced here. Now that the swelling has gone down, it's easy to see how HORRIBLY PLACED these piercings are - they're pointing fully under the curve of the ear! I don't even know if I'll be able to put hoops in these without them hitting the ridge instead. If only there were a license for piercers - Tom should lose his if there was! Added on months later: Since the healing process is several months along now and there isn't any more swelling on my ear, it's very easy to see just how badly pierced this helix was. One piercing completely rejected. The one I'm left with faces at a downward angle, and is completely hidden by the curve of the cartilage when viewed from a normal profile angle. It's unusable, and has to be taken out. I was never contacted by the shop OR the piercer following this review to offer to repierce or refund or ANYTHING: they clearly just don't give a shit about the quality of work they put out there in the world. What a waste of my time and pain and attention in keeping it cared for.

He will tell you if you don't have the proper anatomy for a piercing which is a GOOD thing. A couple of weeks after I had my tragus pierced, it got snagged in my hair and pulled out. My daughter and I desperately tried to get it back in, but only made it so much worse and more swollen. I called Tom and he told me to come in. He got it back in and gave me some instructions to help the damaged me and my daughter did. He told me to call him in a week or two with an update. Between my daughter and I we have about 15 piercings that were done by Tom. They all healed beautifully. I send everyone I know to Tom and they have the same experiences we have. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Michelle the owner in tattooer was probably one of the most gracious and amazing people I have met. While I was not the one to get tattooed by her the conversation that we had as a group was just amazing. She is a beautiful soul. Her ability to be so open and understanding of similar life experiences while making it about the person and not just herself was fantastic. While I was the not the one who is getting tattooed she made me feel comfortable in the space that she provided. She even gave me a recommendation about a tattoo cover up that I've been thinking about for some years now. She made me feel assured and comfortable that what I wanted is a possibility and to not be afraid to go for it. Michelle is a warm and friendly individual that only allows positivity in her space. Prior to the pandemic I had decided I wanted to get boxing gloves on my shoulder. Having not gotten a tattoo in two decades and having sworn I would never again, I just like that changed my mind. She had come to this location twice to get a couple tattoos of her own over the past couple years and thought it would make a great birthday gift to come together for an appointment. It turned out to be on of the best gifts. The shop is in a strip mall. The waiting area leave little to be desired. My BFF made our appointments on a Saturday at 4pm. She said the artist though very nice and does good work has a tendency to run late. When she said late I never really imagined what was in store for us. The shop closes at 6 on Saturday's and we were still in the waiting room "waiting" for our appointment to begin. About 2ish hours in she said we could come back. I was a ball of nerves. The last time I got a tattoo I fainted, twice. The first time I got a tattoo I also fainted, twice. Both times I had to be brought back with smelling salts. I don't recommend. She heard that and took great care to get some gummy bears in me, have cold water available, a fan pointed at me and had me lay down as opposed to seated as with my other experiences. It worked. Still hurt like heck but I did not faint. In the end after being there for basically a whole day, I was pleased with the artist Aime, the results of the tattoo and the price was fair. I wasn't really happy with how long it took to get us back there and to complete the process, but that is about the only bad thing I can say. Since the first time I have been back to see Aime 2x's, for two more tattoos after swearing them off for 20 years. Funny thing is I'm a little obsessed now... But the waiting is not a fluke. It was even more beautiful than I imagined and I knew that was MY tattoo! Isn't that what you want in a tattoo artist? Someone that you explain what you want.. then when it's drawn up it looks even better than you pictured! It turned out beautiful when completed! I live 45 minutes away now but I'm 100% sure that while living in PA my tatts will be done here. I've also seen the great work they've done on my friends.
