**UPDATE** Genisys actually listened to my complaints!! They recently added a no fee payment option that comes right out of any checking account. That being said, with their incredibly low rates, no fees to make a payment, and very kind customer service reps, I can now give them 5 stars. I can't hate Genisys more. They are run on fees. I am already paying interest, but I had no idea a fee would be charged every time I had extra cash to make an additional payment. So 2 ways around the fee. Set up auto pay, or use bill pay. My goal was to pay off my car sooner, so I wanted to be able to make an additional payment. I opened a checking account with a different bank just to use bill pay, since my current checking account didn't have bill pay. Super annoying. I made a $700 extra payment by bill pay, and 5 days later... thats 5 days AFTER Genisys cashed the check, the payment still has not been reflected on my acct. So where is the $700??? I asked them and was directed to call a different number since it's a bill pay issue. No, it's YOUR issue for requiring all these hoops just to pay down a dang loan without paying fees to do so. How bad off does a credit union need to be to charge a fee just to make payment???? My frustration, is your chance to turn around and walk away from this place! A bonus is that the app it also terrible. So much motivation to pay off and get the heck out of Genisys... I am so upset I would pay another fee just to leave this place. read more

5/26/26 1:25pm I called having questions about my account about a courtesy fee , As i'm talking to the Guy name is Alex he was explaining what was going on and as i'm talking to him i say " Okay thank you i might have tos witch a couple of things up with the bank" He proceeded to say " Okay! Earlier Genisys relied on US Bank for some of their bookkeeping. US Bank specializes in payday loans--the interest rate on these ranges up to 50%. 2 years ago or 30 years ago, as a member I would have given Genisys a 6 rating (out of 5)but since they closed their Blue Bell Office, I would give a 0. Nothing could compare to the professionalism, friendliness and care given by Wendy and her staff in Blue Bell. Since they closed their office, any online or phone help is like trying to connect with comcast. Phone wait time, knowledge of customer service agents sounds like they are all in training. So Genisys partnered with Ardent in my area. The Ardent people in the Oaks, PA branch are really very nice but their hands are tied as to providing the customer service I had been used to. I have a great deal of money in a few different kinds of accounts with genisys. I went to Ardent to get a bank check for about $1000. I was told they could not provide that to me even if I withdrew the cash and gave to them. Some sort of policy issue. Okay the agent was very nice and told me how I could work around their inability to help me by going online to genisys and making e-payment (something I never do). Then last week I went in to Ardent with a $500 check and tried to deposit. I completed the deposit slip then the teller (who is a very nice woman) told me going forward I had to sign up with some app, get a pin number before she could deposit my check. She helped me to complete the application for the app but it failed so she told me I can go outside and deposit thru the ATM. I wasn't even taking money out; I was trying to put money in. She apologized and as I mentioned seemed embarrassed by what I had to go thru. I told her I need to get my money out of Genisys and put in bank. She sympathized and suggested that find another credit union if possible rather than a regular bank. I'm working on all of that now and trying to determine where I will relocate my savings and certificates. read more

This is the WORST bank I've ever banked with. What bank do you have to have a certain checking account in order to make deposits at the atm. I'm extremely busy during banking hrs. So i need a bank with easy remote and after hr banking, not this bank. My debit card is currently denying all transactions including Apple Pay. Why? I couldn't tell you bc THEY NEVER answer or return your call at customer service. Maybe this bank would be ok for people who still use checks and go into banks during banking hrs. Tried setting up auto payment and get a loop of a story and cant do it. Then the guy on the phone says he'll call and do payment over the phone every month and doesnt call ever again but the moment its late payment theyve hit me with 2 late payment derogatory marks on credit karma. I recently had been through a very painful, embarrassing and frustrating experience that I had to suffer through because the banks were closed over the weekend. Not going to lie, I was MAD, but most of it had nothing to with Genisys. It was most miscommunication between my husband and his bank. But to make a long story short, my husband and I went to Genisys on Monday the following weekend and talked to Jennifer Szyndler at the Plymouth location and she really helped us out. Purchased a new Cadillac & made 2-payments far ahead of due date, then I received a very nasty & evil collections letter that my payments were late? I checked online & they were not late, also charged late fees & an additional 20% interest evil penalty (must be their new customer welcome). Customer service admitted it was their mistake based on Covid & a resource shortage, really? After 2-days of working with customer service, a local branch, & numerous calls to corporate, my account balance is still an accounting nightmare. Gave me my loan for my truck no one else would. Was very happy for a few years nothing to complain about. Until I overdrafted a little, they went scorched earth locked my account ruined my credit made it impossible to pay back. I tried several times a few different ways to pay back.. No luck these people just decided my life needed to be destroyed because they wanted to charge it off instantly. I tried for months to talking to them trying to square up my credit card. They actively made it impossible. If I could give Genisys a "no star" rating, I would. I had an auto loan through them. As life happened, I began to fall behind. They added CPS insurance which caused my car note to be well over $600 for a Kia Forte. They then told me my car note would triple to $900, I voluntarily provided them the keys and opted for a voluntary repossession. Now after doing that I owe over $8,000 and as the previous post stated, they make paying them harder than necessary and won't work with me during these trying times. I've worked with collections and this is the first company that I've dealt with who is missing humanistic characteristics within their organizational culture. It's ridiculous!! I have been a long time customer with Genesis credit Union well over 10 years and this past year or so has been an absolute nightmare trying to do anything. For the past month and a half I have been trying to add a joint onto my account, something that should have been a 20 minute hour long process in the branch because I could not get to a branch I had to do it over the phone and through emails. They just now told me after a month and a half and several hoops to jump through that they can't add him as a joint because his license address does not match mine. This is something I asked about when I originally called about a possible adding a joint a month and a half ago!!! This is also something they have known about for a month and a half because they've had pictures of both of our licenses for over a month and a half!!! read more

They are constantly changing their hours and make it very difficult to may payment on a loan. When you are trying to make good on your part. They close at 4pm and now you have no way to make a payment. I called the 1-800 number and say it's the governors fault. I attempted two different branches and neither of them were open at 4pm. I have waited over 3 weeks and Kaitlyn Hernandez has not even filed my dispute after several emails she continues you ask more questions that all should have been asked the first day I made my claim with her and Genisys Credit Union. Any other credit card company I have used over the years, Pay Pal, Discover, Visa all return the funds to my account that same day so I have now had to file suit against Genisys CU and Master card. read more

Online payments with Genisys is so awful. You cannot pay a loan whenever you want unless you enter your routing and account info every single time. You can set up automatic drafts, but that is set for one day. Other things are weird to me, like to make a payment you have to use the "Incoming Payment" tab vs. "Bill Pay" tab. Also, you have to download statements in order to get your account number, it isn't listed on your account overview screen. The worst part about all of this is that when I mention this clunky mess of web design, their employees think it's normal and easy to enter your routing number and account info every...single...month...like bro it's 2021 wtf even has a checkbook anymore?! The only reason I even have my loan through them is a broker from Credit Karma set me up with them. I would never choose them for anything in my life except maybe to show a bad example of customer service. I am seriously considering refinancing just to get away from these lunatics. read more

One of the worst places to deal with money. I have been a member since I was a child- my dad made an account for me and I have never had so many issues with a company. Customer service has declined rapidly and even with a watch for fraudulent purchases I still have them and yet no one has been able to assist. Their e-alerts are ridiculous and the fees are criminal. I have gotten fees even when there has been more than enough in my account- multiple times a day, yet when I call I never get a straight answer why money was taken out of my account. *actually got help today with a worrisome purchase on my account and they were patient and helpful- I was really thrown off guard. My overall experience has been subpar over the years but it was nice today seeing that some employees are willing to help. I have been a member since I was a child. To me they have become more big bank than credit union. They boast about all they do for the community but do very little for their members, or at least those without a lot of money in their accounts. Times are tough right now and they offer now additional options, their overdraft fees are crazy high and 90% of the time customer service is horrible. I'm looking at other options. read more

I've been a member since my Genisys branch was a T&C Federal credit union. The customer service was great back then, now the whole organization is a joke. I have tried to log into the mobile app using my fingerprint and I get an error saying try again shortly, I called about it and they said that I was temporarily locked out due to one incorrect login attempt. They then said that the lock was removed and that I would be good to login, surprisingly (not really) I wasn't able to login. I called again and they said that I needed to change my password. I tried that and I get a message saying that the system is currently unavailable. I had to go to an ATM today to learn that my account which should have had over $1,200 in it was over $100 in the negative. All of this on top of the credit union screwing my parents by not stopping fraudulent charges when they were informed about it. I'm going to a different credit union in the morning to open an account with them. Hopefully will be able to refinance my loans with them because I want nothing to do with Genisys. read more

Threatened to FORECLOSE our Home on 4/7/2020 Today i spoke with a lady named Amy from the branch on M24 and Siverbell. She had spoken to my wife prior regarding 2 payments behind we were on our Heloc Loan (Total $575.00 Owed) My wife informed her that we have both been laid off due to the COVID19 Quarantine, and she replied by stating that if we couldnt pay by Friday April 10, 2020 that they were going to Foreclose on our home? Then I called Amy back, and the manager was Tammy, we have our house listed for sale and had an expected close date of March 25th, 2020 which i informed Tammy of, and now they state i broke our promise to pay, but there was no promise to pay, we only informed them we had accepted an offer on the house. So the buyers backed out of the purchase, and we informed the bank, but remind you we have a car loan (up to date) a Heloc (2 months behind, $575.00 Total), and a line of credit (up to date) and now we get threatened for Foreclosure? I asked what arrangements we could make as this quarantine has affected us as much as others, but they are unwilling to do anything. I guess if Foreclosing on our home for a 30K Heloc loan, that were behind by $575.00 makes Genisys happy, then i guess it shows what kind of people they are in a time of need like this. I cant state it is everyone at Genisys, But i have spoken with Amy and Tammy and neither was willing to assist with anything. read more

Good website and good loan programs. This bank should not be called a credit union as they charge you more fees than Chase or the other big banks. I have used credit unions for 20 years and Genisys acts like a big bank. They will charge you over dravft fees even when you have plenty of money in your saving and even when you transfer online to checking. twice now I move the money online over the weekend and it shows availible on the website then they still hit me with 28 dollor over fees. The service I have had at Genisys Credit Union has always been outstanding, even almost Steford-ish in how happy they are and strangely delighted they are to see every customer. Wait times are short, services are great, the people behind the counter know their stuff and when they don't, they get you an answer and always respond with a smile. We were referred to the Crooks and Auburn branch for a car loan. Let's just say nothing like being passed around. First we were given Katherine then we were passed to Tanya H., we always had to do the communicating. First we were told we were pre approved, then we were told not. Tanya was unprofessional when she called a dealership we had started with, but didn't stay with. We changed complete dealerships and they were never contacted. The first dealership Cindy called us to say Tanya had called complaining about the wife calling, the info provided and how she felt, Cindy then called us to repeat it all. After all the hoops we jumped through she emailed my spouse to say we were denied. Never wil! we do business with Genisys again!! Oh by the way we were approved by another credit union and yes our interest rate is slightly higher it's worth it when the loan process is smooth and there is full communication with the right dealership and customer. read more

The location on big beaver is the worst! Always VERY SLOW! Takes minimum of 10 mins in the drive-thru. Employees are very rude and arrogant and refuse to explain anything, just kept repeating the same script over and over! They made an error and refused to reverse it. I called corporate and they reversed it within a minute. Do not go to this location! I will drive 20 minutes away to go to a different one! I had an unauthorized transaction on my account for $ 11,478.13 and have been trying to work with both the Eagan office and MI main office to get it resolved. I have been a member with Genisys for about 20 years and had my share of issues with them but I thought all was going to be better now that Bruce is gone but now things just got worse. I am working with FDIC to get my money back but they are telling me there is a lapse in there insurance. Do yourself a favor and go some where else! read more
