Gennaro's Italian Restaurant is a wonderful restaurant. Most Italian restaurants do not serve Pasta Carbonara. Gennaro's Italian Restaurant does. And made with guanciale. And it is very well made. I asked for well cooked pasta and that was not an issue. Too many restaurants serve al dente pasta and al dente pasta does not sit well with me. To start, I will be back 100%. The service is great and the place is a bit older inside but it's clean and comfortable. There were 4 of us this night. When we ordered we never expected for the portions to be so large. I am not complaining, it's was quite pleasant. Everything we ate was fresh and most of it tasted homemade. The food had love in it. Is there anything else to say with that? The pizza was tasteful every bite you took. My son had the spaghetti and I had to try it. It was great. Plenty of flavor but my favorite part was them meatballs. Not to dense, cooked great, and the flavor was there. The cheese bread doesn't even need sauce but it makes it even better. Best lunch stop of our cross country road trip. Gennaro and our server made us feel so welcome. I had a tasty BLT on a fresh baked roll with thick sliced bacon. Been meaning to write this for 2 years, but just found the receipt while cleaning up desk drawer. Stopped here to eat on return from Canaan Valley, still wearing our ski clothes. We live not far away but decided to checkout this place. We must have looked like travelers to owner as his reaction to us wasn't the best. Wife ordered Eggplant Parmigiana & I ordered a special pizza. Waitress was nice & when delivering our food my wife took several bites before she realized it wasn't what she ordered (with all the cheese couldn't tell until no Eggplant showed up? Waitress then came along & advised she got the wrong order & she wanted to fix that... well, as she had taken a few bites from Lasagna dish, the owner/chef said she had to pay for that! We advised that was wrong & waitress returned from kitchen advising that we had to pay for it anyway? OR, the waitress would have to pay for it herself, so to help the waitress, we graciously opted to share the cost, and my wife then also got her original dish. Later, our bet was that we looked like 'travelers' in our ski clothes & it didn't matter to the owner & he didn't want to be out of pocket with that dish. Poor perspective, regardless. What he didn't know was we WERE local to area, and since that time have avoided his restaurant & told many of our friends/neighbors about our experience. Some thought best not to dine there (as we were advised). Pettiness doesn't help the cause of customer service, and in this case, although not sure how much it hurts this business, they'll NEVER get our business again. read more

This place is awesome. Stopped in Moorefield on the way back from picking up my daughter and her friends at a camp in Bartow, and so glad we chose this place. Everything is made on-site from scratch and it shows. We tried an Italian Panota. Never had this before, which I why we got it -- it is kinda like a huge flatbread Italian sandwich. But there were steak and buffalo chicken variants, too. It was terrific. The kids thought the macaroni and cheese bites were the standout, but it was tough to pick one thing that was the best as everything was so solid. Margherita pizza was wonderful and I am looking forward to having its leftovers. Linguini with clam sauce was the best I have ever had. The saucer was thicker than usually, which threw me off when I saw it but the taste was perfect. Our waitress was amazing, warned us that we were probably ordering more food than we could eat, and was very attentive and kind. I grew up in rural PA and my town had a wonderful Italian restaurant that made it own bread, sauce, and dough, and this place brought me back home. But better! read more

We had no been to Gennaro's in a long time. Our son wanted to meet here on his lunch break, so we joined him. They have added a small buffet ($13.99) since our last visit. They had 3 pizzas, salad bar, chicken wings, spaghetti, soup, & steak-peppers. They only had one server working & she was at the register as well, so took a few minutes to get waited on. I chose the salad bar because it is the most reasonably priced item on the menu. The pizza was hot, salad bar was fresh & tasted good. The first wings had been sitting under the heat lamp a while and were very dry; however, the fresh wings were very good. The spaghetti was hot, but nothing special. Gennaro's soup was hot and very tasty. The dining areas are somewhat crammped, but not bad. read more

Dave Portnoy needs to get himself to Moorefield, WV for a review. Not many likely find themselves in Moorefield but if you're fortunate enough to visit or pass through I'd highly recommend stopping in for some high quality pizza. We ordered 5 larges of different varieties and all 12 of us were thoroughly impressed by the quality of all the ingredients especially the sauce and crust. I'd put money in this pizza winning at a national or international competition. I truly hope they keep up their standards; one day I hope to be back for another experience! read more

Let me start by saying this place is in a very small town and the vibe is very warming and welcoming. Our waitresses were very accommodating and eager to serve your needs. We had the pleasure of meeting the chef which just topped off our fabulous dinner. Honestly, I was glad to meet him to thank him for one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. The food we ordered was a large "The Works". This was the best pizza we have ever had! This pizza review was from four other individuals the next day. We could not stop talking about how great this pizza was to the point we almost got another one the next day for the long drive we faced. Also, we tried several different pasta dishes which were rated very high amongst the four guys. You really can't go wrong with any dish you pick! The best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Everything was great! The gluten free fettuccine was seasoned perfectly while so many other places use way too much garlic. Homemade chips and cheese, huge and delicious Strombolis, delicious pizza, and much more. We all had to taste each other's order it was so good. And the piece-de-resistance was the dessert. I've only had tiramisu better than his in NY City. It was so good that we had "just a taste" of it in our to-go container, and before we knew it, the container was empty. So we got the chocolate cake (I'm not a cake eater because cakes are notoriously too dry for me), and we accidentally polished it off as well. I've been here several times, mostly because I love their homemade crispy potato chips appetizer smothered with warm cheese. They give generous portions. The atmosphere is very casual. I had a new waiter who was still learning the ropes. The owner is very friendly and always makes me feel welcome. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

HOLY MOLY- this cute little italian joint is AMAZING!! We were traveling to Mount Storm, WV, for a little getaway weekend and HAD to stop. This is a MUST stop if ever in the area. 1. Ample parking (we parked on the street right in front) 2. Food is amazing- I'm not vegetarian but love a good veggie pizza- the veggie roll is LIFE changing- all the backyard veggies, super cheesy. The chicken park was giant- enough for a solid 2 meals! And the tiramisu- makes my mouth water just thinking about it! 3. prices are completed fair 4. Staff is kind, gentle, patient, attentive and have very sweet personalities! Cannot wait to make the 2 hour trek from the city to stop in again! read more

Prices are too high for a town like ours. Never anyone in there. When you order a sub or sandwich nothing come with it. They never Give you a receipt. They no longer have delivery when they do usually something has tipped over into your box such as you're soup and unable to eat any of it read more

The pizza here is top notch. Great crust and sauce and generous toppings. This is authentic New York-style pizza right here in Moorefield. I haven't tried other options yet but look forward to in the near future. Prices are also reasonable and the staff is very friendly. We'll be back soon! read more
