Mullin's 1847 is in itself a fascinating museum plus s fine dining restaurant experience! I throughly enjoyed a 8oz Ribeye steak with shrimp that was accompanied by some fantastic mashed potatoes! I sat inside first then opted to move out to their patio on a perfect outdoor weather day. My waitress was delightful and very helpful. I'll give this place 2 stars because the side salad was well prepared and it was fresh. I was in from out of town on business and saw that this was one of the higher rated places in Moorefield so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the meatloaf, vegetable of the day (broccoli), baked potato and side salad. If you're in a hankering for an entree of ketchup and a side of butter, you're in the right place. Not sure if they were having an off night or what but I wouldn't order the meatloaf. The meatloaf came out cold and drenched in ketchup. I get that the meatloaf is supposed to have ketchup on it, but you couldn't see the meatloaf at all, only ketchup. The second star is for the baked potato, you can't screw that up. The broccoli was drowned in the same butter they use for their seafood, I couldn't finish it. Super nice staff though! read more

We stopped in for dinner on our way back from Cass WV to the DC metro area. The hostess was great, seating us right away and then reseating us on her own initiative when some little kids got noisy. The food was great. I had the open face turkey special, since Thanksgiving is coming... Other members of my group had the meatloaf, which was amazing... Meatloaf is one of those dishes that tells you all you need to know about a cook and kitchen - and this set a new standard. We were hesitant to try this place, but we were so glad that we did! The restaurant has such interesting history, friendly service, and delicious food! We took photos of the bread rolls "stamped" with "1847." They even had a nice drink list! Moorefield is a tiny little mountain town and Mullin's 1847 makes it a must-try if you're in the area! read more

Wonderful restaurant and lounge right in the center of town, inside a beautifully restored brick structure. Ample parking is available in the rear. We were seated in the brick-sided front room. Our server was attentive and helpful. Appetizer (onion loaf) was excellent - not greasy, just crunchy and flavorful. Fish and chips equally good. Great spot to enjoy a football game ! My girl and I ran into other Raven fans. Ordered stuffed mushrooms but received a large plate of fried mushrooms. No charge and we shared these with others. Stuffed mushrooms arrived and were good. We shared a French Dip sandwich which they served on a round roll for some reason !! Small for the price but tasty. Overall a 4.5 place ! read more

Passing through town and saw this restaurant. Very quaint decor. Obviously from the name you know it's old. Dining rooms are in the basement which is actually street level and has windows but it has a cellar feel to it due to the beautiful stone walls. Decorated with old pictures and framed old newspapers. Highly recommend our server, Amber. She was able to steer us in the right direction w our meal choices and was pleasant and helpful all evening. Prime rib was cooked just right and my husband liked his meatloaf. Only thing we didn't was the vegetable medley because it was mushy instead of crunchy. Don't leave without sharing a Mason Jar dessert. Ours was layers of Blueberry Cheesecake topped with fresh whipped cream read more

I've visited twice now and so far I have not been impressed. The first visit the server was very good but the onion petals were mushy. The second visit found my glass empty as the server disappeared for most of the meal. I had the burger on the last visit and ordered it with the usual toppings plus ketchup and pickle. I was told they had only pickle spears so I couldn't have pickles on the burger. I'm not sure why no one in a kitchen full of knives thought to cut one of the dill spears flat to use on the burger. They also didn't put any ketchup on the burger but rather brought me a bottle. If you can't be bothered to put the toppings on the burger don't explicitly mention them as options on the menu. To be honest the burger completely lacked seasoning although the bun was very good. I could have had a better meal at McDonald's the last time around. read more

This was the only restaurant open today, so we decided to give it a try. What a mistake it turned out to be. The only positive is the tea tasted great. We were promptly seated and our drink order taken. We received our tea quickly and placed our order. However, we did not see the server again until the food arrived quite a while later. He did not ask if we needed more drink, I had to point it out to him. The "noodle" scampi arrived ice cold, as if it was taken out of the fridge & put in the plate. I had to go find the server and have him take it back. There were only 4 very tiny shrimp in the soupy bowl. The second dish was hot. The bread was a couple slices of loaf bread. There was a lot of garlic in the bottom of the bowl. My dining partner got the taco salad, which was 95% lettuce with very little hamburger or other veggies. What a major dissapointment and waste of money. They did give me a 20% discount. read more

Stopped by this place with my husband for lunch. I think we came at a slow hour (we're on vacation so I slept in!), so it was really quiet. Our server was nice and attentive, and the food was really good and came out fast! I got the taco salad, which was generously portioned and seasoned well. (I don't eat wheat, and incorrectly assumed the taco shell would be corn, that was my bad in forgetting, but it was super easy to eat around.) My husband is mostly vegan, and he was happy to get a Beyond Burger, which was cooked well. The sweet tea was excellent (I'm somewhat of a connoisseur), lots of tea flavor came through. I really liked this little gem of a place. The ambiance was nice, and the decor was full of small town West Virginia charm. Sounds like it would be good to hit up when they have live music, but it was also a great place for a chill, off-hours lunch. read more

I felt very triggered when myself and my fiancé walked in with her service dog. Was told we aren't allowed to have the service dog inside and continued to ask for the papers for the service dog even though your not allowed to do this. Such a cool place! Food great and staff is excellent! We heard about their Bluegrass Jams on Thursday nights in their pub so we called ahead and made reservations. Sat in pub, had chicken Parmesan (huge portion, couldn't eat it all), very good! Hubby had their sausage gravy and biscuits (had a breakfast all day special). This was my first visit since the restaurant so very obviously changed hands, and while the decor and name may be almost unchanged, the similarities end there. We were seated in the "Pub" area, which shares nothing in common with an actual pub but the local radio station playing in the background. Despite the bar style seating there was no television or any alcohol whatsoever, and the children running around underfoot gave the room a distinctly un-pub-like feel. While the restaurant is still gorgeous in and of itself, the plastic Coke cups and single roll of bread to split between two people left a lot to be desired. The menu is bland and unimaginative, consisting of things like "Meatloaf Dinner" and "Fried Chicken Dinner." I settled on the Blackened Catfish with green beans and a baked potato, and my friend got the same, substituting apple sauce for green beans. The "Blackened" catfish ended up being rather small, lightly fried, and lightly spiced. The green beans were of the canned, school cafeteria variety, and the apple sauce appeared to come from a jar, which is outrageous considering the $17 price tag. We skipped dessert. While the staff were very nice, they were slightly inattentive, which can be forgiven for a relatively busy Friday night. All in all a serious step down from the previous establishment and not at all worth the prices. You would be better off going literally anywhere else in town for similar food and better prices. read more

The only reason they got 5 stars is because you can't select 6!! I ordered the chicken and dumpling soup, and the lunch special (Buffalo Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich). They make their own rolls everyday on site. Fresh cut fries topped everything off. Our server was incredible and the meal was so reasonably priced. If anyone is in the region this place is worth the trip. We will definitely be back for future day dates!! read more

Mullins 1847 Restaurant is not only a local landmark but is also a great place to relax and have a good meal and drinks. The food is very good and the drinks great! The atmosphere in the bar area is like the living room of a very good friend: next to the 'faux' fireplace are two extremely comfy leather couches-they are empty 99% of the time so we consider them to be 'our seats''. On Saturday nights they have karaoke in this room. Their selection of songs is pretty good. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive to you-hopefully you will have the pleasure of being served by Rachel or Connie! They are knowledgeable in the history of Mullin's and are happy to share this with you. In good weather they have an outside area where smoking is allowed. read more

Upon completion of my meal, the waitress taking the plates from the table, took the unused silverware wrap that was given at the beginning of the meal, and placed it back into circulation with the clean silverware. I had placed the utensils on to my dirty plate, on top of the uneaten food that had been in contact with my hands and mouth, to make it easier to pick up all in one. The fact that anything goes from the table top, where the potential for consumer contact, went back into the clean section without being washed, let alone the fact that it was on my used plate with consumed food, is absolutely unsettling and against all forms of restaurant standards and practices. I imagine that since the little things are being overlooked, and what it seemed to be as a common practice as the individual did not hesitate to do this, that the larger and more intensive cleanings and health practices are not being taken seriously either. On top of this incident, I saw the re-sanitization of the menu seemed to be a frequently used wet rag to wipe down the consumer used menu. Now I don't know what the rag was dipped in, could have been a strong sanitation solution, but my best guess is that it was a wet rag from a sink or bucket of water that it sits in. In light of this I had called and was refunded my total amount, which is nice of them, but should be pretty standard and warrants no real praise. I would recommend that no one frequent the establishment as it draws concerns for public health, especially in a time of great concern with the worlds health pandemic. read more

The food was all very delicious, came out relatively quickly, the selection was good, and the menu seemed to have a lot of possibilities. While traveling in West Virginia we stopped for lunch based on Yelp recommendations. The ambiance was very nice (The restaurant is in a building built in 1847) and the waitstaff were very friendly. I was told by good close sources that this place was really nice, the nicest place in the area and we were excited to go. It was my daughters birthday and she wanted steak and grilled shrimp , waitress comes back and said there are no grilled shrimp. A little disappointed but took the fried shrimp in place of it. 5 of us ordered tea. 3 half and half and 2 unsweet. The waitress brought our tea then said you will have to drink something else bc now there is no more unsweet tea. Meaning there would be no more made. This was around 6pm , not closing time. Then we asked about their signature branded rolls that were supposed to have been brought out first to the table. The waitress said no rolls, we tried to make them and they didn't turn out. No offer or attempt to fix the situation like any other good restaurant would have done. Then the steak brought out was not med rare but done, and so tough and full of gristle you couldn't eat it. Also we ordered 2 ribeyes and recieved one ribeye and one strip steak. and My Alfredo was cold. 101.00 dollar ticket and that's that's service we got. Very Disappointed!
