Molly was wonderful working with my daughter. All the ladies there made each and every one of the girls feel so special. Prom dress shopping should not be one where they are made to feel horrible, which was our experience at The Prom Room in Mt. Sterling. Geno's was the complete opposite, making my girl feel like a princess. They had dresses for all budgets and we found the perfect dress that was under my budget. I truly can't recommend Geno's enough. I hate writing negative reviews, but I couldn't have had a worse experience renting for my wedding and I feel it needs to be shared. TLDR: the staff is nice enough but if you are renting a tuxedo for a formal affair, avoid this place like the plague. I'm sure they're great for suits or maybe women's attire, but not tuxedos. The staff were all very friendly, and when I registered for tuxedos, they walked me through some style options (lapel type, vest or cummerbund, shoes ect.) Including shoes, the total was ~ $250 PP. I really appreciated that they let the groomsmen come in for fittings or I could send in measurements for the out of towners. As the wedding approached I realized I was mysteriously muff on details as I discussed with my fiancé and the wedding planner. Geno's sent me home with an order number and not much else. When I called to have some questions answered, I wasn't given much clarity. Ultimately, I ended up texting with an associate for days trying to find out basic information about what was included in the tuxedo rental. If I hadn't, we likely wouldn't have had studs or cuff links included, and a couple groomsmen would have been without shoes. Geno's apparently rents a standard tuxedo, that IMO doesn't meet the definition of a tux. Their "tuxedo" rental has multiple issues or features that I feel other customers should be aware of, that were not advertised to me, as you don't get to try on the actual rental model you will be wearing before renting: -Pants do not have the matching accent fabric/stripes that typically run down the side of tux pants -Pants have beltloops? One of the major differentiating features between tuxedo pants and slacks is that tux pants do not have belt loops - The tuxedo shirts are more than less plain dress shirts. They don't have any texture/bibs on the front (pleats, pique, ruffles, ect.) -The tuxedo shirts are barrel cuffs, not French cuff. While they do have a way to insert cuff-links and studs, they still have all the buttons in place and are not removable, just like a typical dress shirt, not a tuxedo shirt. Other things to note for renters, you can't rent bracers/suspenders, socks are not included, and pocket squares are extra. Additionally, when trying on the rentals, my groomsmen had all kinds of issues and were required to drive to the warehouse themselves to get replacements. When I expressed concerns with the "tuxedo" I was informed that this was their standard tuxedo rental and all that Geno's carried in stock. I was clearly unhappy, with three days to go before my wedding. I expressed multiple times my primary concern was that the tuxedo pants should have a stripe down the side and shouldn't have beltloops. After being rebuffed multiple times, I was finally informed that that "style" was only in their warehouse because most men chose not to wear it anymore, and they didn't recommend it since the pants were "balloonish" and didn't fit well. The other wrinkle, was that the tuxedo pants in the warehouse did not match the existing jackets, which were notch lapels for my groomsmen and a shawl collar for me, so all of us would have to switch to peak lapels. At this point, multiple hours in, my pre-wedding stress got the better of me so I started calling around to see if anyone could rush new rentals in time. I found a couple, but since some of my groomsmen were traveling from out of town and couldn't get fitted in store, I'd have to supply their measurements myself. No problem, I thought. I'll just get their measurements from Geno's. When I asked for the measurements of the groomsmen who were not in Lexington already, they refused to provide them to me since Geno's knew I was going to a competitor. After the full day affair, with close-of-business rapidly approaching, I ultimately decided to switch all my groomsmen to the peak lapel tuxedos at Geno's (with the correct pants). I just ate the deposit I paid with Geno's, and paid to FedEx overnight a tuxedo from Men's warehouse that had a matching shawl-collar jacket and tux pants. read more

In early 2020, I gave a five-star rating on my family's experience with this place for my son's wedding. I meant every word I wrote. Sadly, however, our second experience with Geno's at Southland, was anything but five star. But I want to give an honest update review here because both of these experiences are genuine. 2020 we had a great experience but flash forward to this past week and ordering for our granddaughter's wedding -- uggg. Not good. My husband and I visited Geno's Formal Affair on Southland drive a week and a half before we needed a suit for him for the wedding. He was measured and we chose a blue suit and the lady said they had a matching blue tie so we went with that. We also chose shoes - the whole package. Our order cost more than 200.00. But we figured it worth it based on our previous positive experience. The day we ordered, we were told that we could come back the following Wednesday for a fitting so we would have time for alterations before the big day. Well, Wednesday came and we called but the suit hadn't come in. They told us it would be there Thursday. That was cutting it close for alterations because of my work schedule but we said okay. The store doesn't open until noon on weekdays so I had to go get my husband (who doesn't drive right now due to a leg injury) and bring him to the store for fitting and then take him back home and try to get back to my office by 1:00pm. Not an easy feat in traffic. Still, it had to be done, right? When we arrived, a lady came out of the store and informed us that the ones for his suit had still not arrived. She also said they had a "long" in the suit pants but that the "stride" would be about an inch or two longer. We were concerned about bunching or bagging as my husband is not a tall man. She said she had the answer to that - she said she had suspenders that would help the pants stay up higher on the waist a bit and the vest would cover that and so on. Reluctantly we agreed as there was nothing else to do at this point. Because the pants had not come in and we had not been informed, I had to take my husband back home and hurry to work empty handed, only to have to repeat the process again that day at 5pm when the lady said they would have the long pants in. Keep in mind that the store closes at six. Not much time to leave work, fight traffic, pick up husband at home, turn around and go all the way back to Geno's and then fight traffic back home again. But the lady assured us she would wait for us. My husband had his fitting. The pants, because they were "long" had been hemmed some seven inches and the bulk of material was evident as it bunched a bit at the lower area of his legs. Still, I tried to look over that. The extra stride inches seemed okay when hubby pulled the pants just a tad higher than normal and covered the "urkel" look with his vest and coat. His coat sleeves were too long and they hemmed those at that time. We got ready to leave and had our suit zippered into the travel bag when my husband said-- oh yeah, you said that you would include suspenders just in case I felt like the pants wouldn't stay up far enough with just the side adjustable clips. The lady said but I thought they were okay when you tried them on. Hubby said they seemed to be but when I move around they may not stay so it might be good to have to suspenders just in case. To which the woman said -- okay but I'll have to go ring those up. At which time, I lost it. I admit it. I did. I looked at the lady as if she had just grown a horn on top of her head and said "you have got to be kidding". We paid you 200 for a suit you can't deliver and then we agree to take a work around that you offered and you're going to charge us extra for your mistake of not being able to deliver what you promised? The lady seemed to think there was nothing wrong with her charging us extra. She argued with me. At that point it was not about the cost of suspenders. It was about taking time off work and missing lunch and making two trips instead of one and having to look at those pages at with a seven inch hem and a blue tie that wasn't the same color as the blue suit... and on top of all that this lady was thinking she was justified in charging us more to fix her mistake. I don't think so. Finally, the manager came out and she got a pair of suspenders from the back and brought them out and handed them to me and asked if I could return them when I return the suit. I said yes. We left. Granddaughter got married. Lovely ceremony. Beautiful couple. But now Geno's has two FORMER customers and one updated review because of the cost of a pair of suspenders and a sales person who doesn't understand the concept of customer service. After such a failed customer service experience, my husband has vowed he will never go back to Geno's for his formal wear. I can't say that I blame him. read more

My husband brought my dress, and they matched his vest up with it. They even gave several options, laid them out, took a picture, and sent it to me while I was at work. That had a great selection of prom dresses and were really busy but if you were looking for bridesmaid dresses I recommend going somewhere else. Their selection was limited. The wait for dressing rooms were 30 to 45 min wait but that was possibly due to the prom crowd. I would recommend calling ahead. Prices were typical for formal wear read more

I rented a tux from Genos for a wedding. They measured me but when the actual tux arrived, the pants were way too tight and so were the shoes. My son rented a tux for the same event. They measured him and it was all wrong, measured again and when the tux came, it was even worse. Pants wrong, shoes wrong, and the vest was wrong and so worn out that it was pitiful. They didn't seem to care, they used the line that their warehouse is just ten minutes away. Good thing because they screwed up the measurements on myself once and my son three times. We are still waiting to make a third trip to Genos when it should have been right the first time. All this for $180.00 per tux. I am in Frankfort and have traveled two and a half hours for Genos mistakes. I recommend you look elsewhere for formal attire. Genos: Fail. read more
