A great community center where there are classes geared for all ages. The indoor swimming pool is considered the best in Santa Fe with times for everyone's desire from toddlers to seniors. The ice skating rink will soon be open again with hockey for adults and youths. Curling will also be offered. Learn to skate classes are very popular. A gymnasium with challenge courts, pickle ball and racket ball. The fitness center is where you can get into shape or stay in shape offer machines, yoga and Zumba classes. I love this gym! One of the only few with a pool (from what I've researched) and a "hotel size" hot tub. A huge basketball court, an ice rink, medium size weigh room and a good amount of stationary bikes. It's never very crowded, even at peak times. I swim every day and the pool is horrific with temperatures ranging from 70 to 85 every day. The weight room is OK at best and the basketball courts are filled with bugs and it is super hot. We spent the spring and summer in Santa Fe and after checking out a handful of gyms, this was the gym we chose to belong to. What can I say that you can't already figure out from all the photos I've shared. Nice staff, always clean, great pool, a hockey rink, a running track and ta da...updated and working cardio equipment that actually works, from spin bikes to row machines to treadmills. And get this... You wouldn't believe the awesome membership pricing they have. Whether you just want to work out for one day or a few months, the memberships are SUPER affordable and so reasonable, I only wish that they would duplicate this community center throughout the country. If you're looking for good value, this gym is the best gym in Santa Fe. read more

The cell phone situation is out of control, including among the apathetic staff who would rather scroll through TikTok than offer customer service to their paying members. These days, when I check in at the front, there's usually a young woman there who is on her phone, and whom I have to interrupt to actually check in. My last time in, I waited for a weight machine for 15 minutes while a woman scrolled through Instagram on her phone. When I asked if I could get in a rep, she said no, she had more to do, but then instead of exercising, went back to her phone. When I asked one of the trainers if he could step in and advocate for me, as I was actually there to workout and not scroll social media, he declined. I have come out of the showers in the locker room, only to be inadvertently snapped by a teenager taking a selfie. When I reported ALL of this to the gym manager today, he stared at me blankly and said, "Okay." I asked if he was going to do anything about it, and he simply shrugged. No one seems to care about the members privacy, safety or desire to actually work out. Lame. All hail the almighty cell phone, human decency be damned. read more

I have now tried twice to go to this pool. Webpage is useless. Four staff sat behind one desk and let those in line manage new arrivals, telling them where to line up. Turned away both times while people with no reservations or memberships lied to get to pool. I'm done. read more

Ya know...I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much out of this place. For whatever reason, community centers conjure up images of dimly lit, depressing, dirty, and smelly locker rooms. It could just be that I'm a bit of a snob but who knows. Regardless, GCCC is impressive. It looks big from the outside but on the inside, it's spacious and full of all sorts of stuff to do. The line is quick to get through in the front and the membership rates are pretty darn reasonable. Tip: ask if your job qualifies for the corporate rates and save even more! A smokin' deal compared to the other gyms in SF. Inside are modern facilities with a huge lap pool, a wading pool, hot tub, etc. I'm not one for public pools so I can't comment of the water, etc. but overall it's a nice area. There's an indoor ice rink. No sh!t! And it's pretty darn nice too. Farther towards the back there's a cardio "nook" that overlooks the ice and the weight area. Basic equipment but high quality and, again, not claustrophobic (unlike the Ft. Marcy center *ahem*). There's lots of basketball courts and above the courts (next to the weight room) is an indoor track that is pretty nice as well. I know this will be awesome in the winter when it's too darn cold to run or walk outside. At the very end of the first floor are often elusive racquetball courts. I've played in a lot of them and these are some of the nicer ones- completely enclosed to the ceiling so the ball doesn't go flying out when you hit it too high), the floors are not at all slick but instead nice and polished with a good grip (too good in some cases, I sort of fell on my butt because my shoes stuck a little too well), and the walls are made of a good material that keeps the bounce going. Unfortunately there's only 2 courts but it hasn't been an issue getting one reserved. There's lots of lockers (bring your own lock) that are decently sized. The locker room itself I've only been in once because it had water everywhere from the pool and showers and was really crowded. Ew. The clientele is a mixed bag as well but whatever, that's NM for ya. However, quite possibly the funniest sign I've ever seen in my life was at this place advising you of the hazards of recent diarrhea and swimming. If I remember I'm so getting a picture...occasionally I have the sense of humor of a 5 year old. I think the worst part is thinking about the reason the sign was up... One of the great things is that even though it looks crowded and there's tons of people, it's not bad inside. It seems the crowds congregate to the pools and basketball courts primarily. If you do more non-traditional stuff like ice skating and racquetball, it's pretty much perfect. Overall, absolutely worth checking out before dropping a dime anywhere else. read more

Great workout room, huge pool, good sauna, nice gym, small but usable running track, outdoor running options out back, people nice, facilities clean, clientele respectful (except the occasional old duffer who sits at the machine for tweleve minutes between sets, wondering if today would be a good day to die)...No complaints, all kudos! Price not bad either.... Update in November--OK, that being said, the sauna has been out for weeks, and the story is "waiting for a part" or some such. I am pretty done with THAT story. Get the damn part, or boiler or whatever. Just get it. 3 of about 8 treadmills wereout of commission on Thursday, and they said Nov 1 the guy would be there to fix them. OK. But come on with the sauna. That is VERY key to why some of us come there rather than, say, the Community College. Please get on top of that one, Genoveva... read more

Holy Smokes, if you haven't been here yet you need to make some time to check out this excellent community resource. $5 to get in, or $65 for a 15 punch pass. I have always worked out at the local Y's or community centers because they are cheaper, but they tend towards dingy and older...so when I saw this I thought I was in the wrong place- it was huge, clean and new!! Wow! Went here this morning to find an early morning place to workout. They had a spin class at 6:15 that I wanted to check out, but arrived late so rode a stationary bike instead. Also walked around and found some great and fun other things to do: - indoor track - indoor skating rink- open skate starts at 6am! - indoor lap pool - indoor huge wading pool and slide area for kids - hottub - racquetball and basketball courts - nook with 15 stationary bikes - smaller weights section - upstairs area with 40 or 50 spin bikes - yoga/classroom (with regular schedule of classes that are $6.5- normally yoga classes are $15 so this is a great deal) This is a very exciting find and yet another indicator that Santa Fe values health and fitness because this facility could not have been cheap. I am loving Santa Fe more and more the longer we're here. read more

This is a very large community center and they have so much inside. Indoor ice skating rink, huge pools, indoor track, lots of cardio/weight equipment, spin room, workout room, locker rooms (but no showers). You should bring a lock because theft is an issue (since there's a lot of ppl around). I really like their fitness classes (M night- kickboxing, W night- spin or step) because they are pretty intense. You can pay $6 to get in and around $65 for a punch pass. Parking is plentiful but expect not to find a spot close to the entrance. You need to bring a towel as well. read more

Wow. What's with all the rules around here? Does the staff get a bonus every time they reprimand someone? I grew up just down the road from this place and wished they would have had a place like this within walkin distance from my house. The facility has everything you would expect from a local community center. During our vacation here in Santa Fe we visited the community center often. The recreational pool is just that. If it weren't for the life guards enforcing every sub code of the official handbook this place would easily be 5 stars. The pool slide is cool as is the whirlpool area and the river-like area around the pool. My kids love the ice skating rink with the low cost skate rental. The rink has to be the best bargain in the place since the session times are several hours long. The pool only has 1 1/2 hour blocks. After reading some other reviews I got a little paranoid about the lockers not having locks. I went to check on my kids' possessions and ended up looking like a thief myself opening lockers and rifling through pockets. Bring a lock if you wanna feel secure leaving your personal stuff in the lockers. It's a shame that thievery happens but it's a fact of life. Wait... Why is the lifeguard wearing tennis shoes on duty? Is that against the rules? read more

This place was amazing. 5 bucks gets you access to a really nice full size skating ring with decent skates, a full sized pool with another heated series of pools with a fun current water slides and a whirlpool. There are 2 racquetball courts and basketball courts. There are fitness and spinning classes as well. This place was clean and well maintained and just a great time. The facilities are spectacular. It was nice that all shapes, sizes, ages and colors were there using the facilities. One really really should go and check it out. read more

I'm simply turned off by this place purely because the staff is unfriendly, unattentive and very unhappy to be there...at least the people I ran into. I usually stick to my own when someone is getting reprimanded, but a guy was working out wearing jean shorts when one of the employees scolded him in front of everyone. Validly, he asked her why he wasn't allowed to wear jeans and instead of telling him in a nice manner, she raised her voice and yelled at him. It was very disturbing and uncalled for...her "authority" was definitely made clear, but it just made her look like a complete ass. I hope they change their ways because I won't be spending money there anymore, unless I hear that things have gotten better. read more

I've been dropping in here for years to use the gym, against my will, only at the times when my other options were extremely inconvenient. The drop in rate is fair, but the gym is a crowded ghetto with basically the same equipment from 10 years ago and an overflow of seemingly delinquent youth. Watch your bag here lest it be stolen as my friend's was. And for the olympic sized pool with water slide and kiddo section, I have never even dipped as much as a toe in its yellow, murky waters; I am frankly afraid of the consequences to my health. read more

I have been going to the community center for over five years. I love the ice arena because we have the best ice in New Mexico! Also, I play hockey there. I love the Olympic pool because it's always clean and pristine. I think the weight room is a great feature along the jogging track. I give the Chavez center hi marks because everybody that works there works hard to keep it clean and nice. I almost forgot they have racquetball courts. Clean facility, long walk to the elevator if you have osteoarthritis and can't walk much, staff sort of hard to find if you need someone but helpful once you find one. I was scared to go to Chavez Center because I feel self conscious about my fat old body, but nobody there has ever made rude remarks about my shape and size. Locker rooms are freezing cold after the warmth of the therapy pool. Overall a nice place. read more

this place is remarkable. i was traveling through and for $7 i got access to all their facilities. beautiful swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, weight room, running track, basketball courts, volleyball and on and on. when i travel i sleep in my van and sleep in the walmart parking lot since they encourage you to do so... and this was a welcome surprise of a place where i could go get a work out in and a nice shower! i also took an awesome yoga class for $8 there, which is an amazing drop in rate! and the teacher was awesome read more

The facility is amazing and has something to offer for everyone, truly. As I'm new to the area, I visited for the first time today to check out the equipment and swimming facility. The placement of cardio equipment provides great views out to the ice rink or the swimming area, respectively. The reception staff would benefit from some hospitality training. I arrived during what appeared to be a slow time for the day and had difficulty eliciting any information about the GCCC at all, despite informing them upon check-in that it was my first time here. Really great facility though and convenient in location for me, so I will probably return. read more

I'm in Santa Fe for a whole week, I usually come here once a month or so and was looking for a place to work out without having to sign up at a gym and get a membership. Most hotels in SF have training equipment and it tends to be decent equipment for the most part, but they often just have an elliptical and or a treadmill. I was very impressed with GCCC, super nice place. Never seen a community center so clean, weights and training equipment is good quality (precor) and in good condition. Love it! They also have a swimming pool, and an indoor running track. I did not have time to explore the whole place but I will definitely be going back tomorrow and Friday! and every time I get to come back to Santa Fe. read more
