I just completed the 2 week detox program at the Bridgewater Gensych location.  I was a little apprehensive in the beginning as this was the first time I had actually considered doing anything like this.  It was the first time I was going to attend groups, talk to counselors, and acknowledge my problem with my addiction.  I have to say that right from the beginning I really felt accepted by everyone there even the other clients which was very reassuring.  It was easy to see that the counselors especially Jacki, and John on the weekends were well educated and knew what they were doing.  They were very calm, understanding of my situation and always ready to help with any issues I might be having that day.  The nurse practitioner Caryn was always helpful and listened to what was going on and receptive to my needs at the time.  As far as the facility its designed to help you get through this difficult time.  It has a room with recliners (very comfortable I might add) with a nice big screen TV on the wall.  Which was perfect if you might be having a difficult day or need some time to relax.  A group room which had a big white board, and another nice TV for showing videos which were always helpful.  A room for the nurse that had everything to help you in your recovery.  It also has an outside smoking area if you happen to smoke.  As far as the program itself it definitely has enough structure to stay clean, or maintain your sobriety while at the same time allowing you to go home every night. They have two doctors that were very respectful to your condition and what you were going through.  Gensych will also provide transportation (drivers are really great) and lunch everyday which was takeout so it was actually pretty good, I recommend the chicken cheese steak or the grilled chicken caesar salad.  The detox program lasts 2 weeks and it goes fast. Afterwards if you decide you want to continue treatment (which I did) they have a Partial Care program as well as an Intensive Out Patient program with a smooth transition to either.  I have to say that everyone there from the director, to the counselors, to even the secretaries upstairs, were all extremely helpful, and understanding at this very trying time in my life.  I can tell you that they probably saved my marriage and most likely my life.  I am so thankful for everything they did that I wanted to volunteer my experience with others.  If you or anyone you know is going through addiction I would strongly recommend the Gensych detox program as they have everything needed to get you through this very difficult time in your life in a very calm and comfortable manner while at the same time learning a lot about coping skills to help you get through it and stay clean and sober. read more

I have been going to gen psych for 10 years for medication management. They cancelled my 3 month follow-up with my doctor, and I then learned that that my doctor, as well as a few others, left the practice because they were no longer being compensated. I was left without my mental health medications for a few days because Gen Psych wouldn't answer my calls or schedule an appt for me with another doctor. Thankfully my primary care doctor helped and I found a new doctor. I do not recommend Gen Psych at all.. horrible and sketchy treatment.. to say the least. read more

STEER CLEAR!! This facility is a hot mess. First, they only do telehealth apps. I'd rather see someone in person, but to each his own. After the first session, my provider called in a new prescription for my ADHD, but then was unreachable. She never replied/returned any of my multiple calls. Also, there is NO WAY to speak to your doctor directly- instead, you have to call and leave a message and discuss your personal problem with someone else and then they E-MAIL the doctor....not even call them. How ridiculous is that? What if you are in crisis mode? Anyway, I have a 30-day supply of my ADHD med, and in two days I am going on vacation for two and a half weeks. I will be short a week of pills since the 30-day supply ends while I am away out-of-state. I asked my doctor for a partial refill so I don't have to go cold turkey for a week from my med. She simply refuses. Totally unprofessional and dismissive of a patient who obviously came to GenPsych because she had some psychological issues to treat. I understand that ADHD meds are controlled substances, but going on vacation is a special circumstance which I feel is worthy of a partial refill. I'm talking one week of pills, not 3 bottles. I had to contact the Coordinator, who ultimately gave me Alimata's email address. Here is the email I sent her, as well as her completely unhelpful reply (I think I was completely polite while getting my point across). Now I am extremely nervous about what will happen once I run out of meds. Kind of puts a damper on my upcoming trip. Never again will I trust GenPsych. I should have payed closer attention to the reviews before picking up the phone to make that initial appointment. read more

I first started at genpsych in May of 2021, at first it was wonderful. They had wonderful therapists, groups were interesting and the clinicians kept us engaged and were informative. Slowly the therapists started leaving and weren't replaced quick enough or at all. There were 1 or 2 times when a therapist would just not show up for the virtual meetings and we led the group ourselves. I see a lot of complaints in these reviews about the APNs, PAs, and NPs not being real drs. That's one of the things I liked about this place. Psych drs are usually not very compassionate, they don't heal you they just tell you what to do from the book they learned from and hope it works. APNs and PAs have a lot more hands on experience and I find that they give diagnoses and mental health protocols like a dr and care for you like a nurse. I was seeing Jobin for my psychiatric needs and he was wonderful. I saw him throughout my IOP and continued to see him on an outpatient basis. This was working well until something switched up with their billing practices. They had 2 of my cards on file that were supposed to be being charged weekly while in the IOP and monthly for my copay when I was outpatient. For some reason they hadn't been charging me and I received a bill for $6000-something for services rendered. Why were they not charging me the whole time? I couldn't pay $6000 at once and asked about a payment plan. They told me that I had to pay at least half the balance otherwise I couldn't see my dr. Outta desperation I used one of those virtual medical sites and was able to get 90 days worth of meds so I could find a new psychiatrist. I went without my mood stabilizers for almost a week, abruptly stopping mood stabilizers can cause an array of issues including seizures. They knew this and didn't care. I don't blame the drs or therapists, I blame the incompetent billing staff and the greedy, unethical, scatterbrained ceo who cares more about money than people who are at the lowest point in their lives and need care. I wouldn't go here again if they paid me nor would I recommend this facility to anyone or even their goldfish read more

Incompetent and very difficult to get in touch with anyone. We are about to get a claim denied because they didn't complete the necessary paperwork, and it's been two days of we calling and emailing and I still can't get anyone to talk to. I read their indeed reviews and they have alot of turnover and people have bad experiences working there. All therapists refuse to come to the office. they will only give us a PA, not even a real doctor. read more

Genpsych thinks its okay to send an account to collections despite having contact and billing info for their clients. I've never paid a bill late and have no idea why you would do this. Genpsych approved the sending of a $4k bill from a collections agency for services from 2 years ago that I thought were long settled. They are all approved claims and its a matter for genpsych to sort with the insurance company when/how they get paid. Pretty crummy business practice for a company that's supposed to care about mental well-being. I didn't appreciate having to chase Genpsych for answers about this bill, and I really didn't like having the whole collections thing be dismissed by your billing staff because "only third notices can damage your credit score." You all should be ashamed of yourselves for being so tone deaf. read more

I went to this practice for about 2 years. I started out with Dr. Olga Markovna Tchikindas. She's no longer there but on my 1st visit she begged me to admit my husband beats me. WHICH IS NOT TRUE! She accused me of being a drug addict, but still continuously filled my prescription.... sooooo... idk... Loretta N Oguonu changed my meds without telling me at the worse possible time in my life. The 1st month I was alright, but then everything took a shit and my meds stopped working after 4 hours. I was in the process of moving to another apartment, there was a lot of unknown at the time and she knew this. I called up their office and told them I was flying cold turkey and they didn't even care. Loretta changed her hours and so what turned turned into a 2.5 month wait. I finally got Dr. Xueming Ye who is sane and I would recommend her. I missed several job interviews because the office staff would lie and say I didn't leave a voicemail to refill my prescriptions or they would lie and say I never called even though I spoke to someone on the phone. Unless you have Dr. Ye, don't go here. From the bottom of their heart, they really DO NOT give a flying fuck about you! read more

I recently completed my enhanced outpatient program and have to say I feel better. Learned a lot through this experience, and found the entire process to be very well run. I signed up, filled out all the forms, and was in a group meeting along with a therapist and other doctor within two days. The people here are extremely professional, always available, and very understanding of what needs I had, along with concerns. All were addressed, and everything went exactly as they said it would. This place has a very special staff, everyone I was in contact with or interacted with seemed to understand my issues, as well as my needs. I was there from Sept. 2019 - Nov. 2019. Aly Rentrop was my therapist. Interacting with her was the best therapy I could of asked for to aid in my recovery. The group session were very helpful as well, I've read some of the past reviews that weren't that flattering. I truly believe that the it all depends of the staff at the time you enroll. IOP therapy was good, but the self righteous, wanna be doctor, psych nurse needs to go. Talked to me like I was a 5 year old on my last visit. Did not acknowledge anything i said when I spoke to him. It was like talking to a wall. Very invalidating. Taking phone calls during my session and on the cell phone. I wanted off a med, wasn't comfortable with it and he was annoyed with me. Genpsych is a WONDERFUL mental health service that provides the most amazing support through different mental health tracks. The Bridgewater location was such a great experience and place for me. I believe that if anyone is considering working on them self and having thoughts about therapy, try it out! Just starting is a great start on working on improving your overall being. I've learned to keep chasing my life goals while learning and figuring out different tools to manage and regular myself . When I first walk in the first thing Dr. Abby Kurien does is review my medications. Does he ask me about how I've been since I last saw him? No. Most doctors will be professional and won't take phone calls while the patient is there. Dr. Kurien picked up the phone and took the call. When I asked when to make my next appointment, he called the patient back while I was still standing there waiting. I was dumbfounded. Not only is he unprofessional, but I know when medication does and doesn't work for me and he refuses to budge. However, he's pushed the idea of certain procedures that I am really uncomfortable with. Doctors should listen to their patients. We know our bodies better than you do and I do not appreciate how I've been treated by this doctor. At least the price is cheap. read more

I made an appointment with these guys or careless ignimona's as felt the tabs ive been on for last 8 years are not having desired effect and currect dr isnt doin alot about it and this place was one of the few under my new insurance that are taking new patients...........i wonder why........now i know why....theyre useless.....after hunting high and low for new dr due to ev being maxed during covid...i get an appointment with practising nurse who can diagnose and prescribe so as i hadnt found anyone taking new patients under my insurance, decided to give it a whirl....this was dec, my appointment was feb 8th. when eventually get to feb 8th, i get an email with zoom details not long before call and i connect with dr or nurse whatever or whoever...she asks for my paperwork....i said havent received any paperwork...she said have to reschedule...i checked my inbox and explained i had not received any...she tells me to hang on and comes back with shell call in 2 mins or something n the call is ended. I get an emailed docs to complete and get a call asking if received whilst filling out and told i have to reschedule, said its not my fault n ive waited a long time for this, to which this avheed said we cant see u without paperwork have reschedule. the next booking was mar 27th.....like seriously!!?? so i went with that and he was ready to end the call..i said no apoplogy for waiting 2 months n not getting seen??? he said a lame...i apologise blar blar blar. read the other reviews and makes sense now. idiots. dont be n idiot n waste ur time here. not sure how theyve got to where they are. not a wellbeing business read more

Avoid this place at all costs. They have no sympathy when you're struggling and relapse. They actually made me sign a contract while I was heavily under the influence in their detox. The worst counslers are Bethany , Heather and Rachel They don't let you express yourself at genpsych. Nurse sly over medicates patients and doesn't check the lethal interactions before prescribing them. I looked up interactions with my two meds and it said I was at an extremely high risk of serotonin syndrome. When I was discharged they sent me home a letter stating I was sent home with all my meds when they didn't write me any prescriptions and left me with nothing. Paresamii has no people skills and the whole time I was there, there wasn't one person who was fond of her. Overall it was the worst outpatient I've been too. If you're going to outpatient don't go here! read more

Beware of enrolling here. They have many illegal practices and will bill your insurance companies for services you either don't need or didn't have. Mostly all of the Therapists are miserable. My appointment with Jobin was canceled 2 hours beforehand because he had a medical emergency. Fine; these things happen...I'm glad he ended up being okay. When I went back for my new appointment, the receptionist (blonde white woman) was chatting with one of her friends at the desk. I stood there waiting until she finally deigned to acknowledge me. Even though GenPsych had canceled last time without 24 hours notice, she informed me I still had to pay my copay for today's visit. No free appointment or anything like that even though I had been inconvenienced. I'm sure that if I had had to cancel last minute over a medical emergency, they still would've billed me, or at least my insurance company. I made the mistake of pointing that out to the receptionist. I say it was a mistake to point it out to her because when Jobin took me back to his office, he lectured me on "appropriate expressions of anger." It was extremely condescending and infantilizing. When I asked him if he was "scolding me" he quickly backed off and pretended it was something other than a paternalistic lecture. When I told him I would not be returning to GenPsych because of the staff's unprofessionalism, he said--and I kid you not--"you'll get that everywhere." First of all, no...you won't get that everywhere...that's a GenPsych specialty. And secondly, how is that even an excuse? Bottom line--I'd rather not take my Lexapro and DEAL WITH anxiety and depression than have to give GenPsych my business ever again. read more

I was at the GenPsych facility in Bridgewater in December. sometime between Christmas and New Years Eve, I was taken to Robert Wood University Hospital Somerset. I thought I was going to be seen in the E.R. and sent back that day, however it turned out that I was admitted to the hospital for about a week. In the meantime I was discharged from GenPsych, however ALL my belongings, including my HIV medications remained in the possession of GenPsych. I had enough medication to get me through most of January, however I knew I was about to run out. I began to reach out to GenPsych to see if they could bring my stuff to me at the sub-acute rehab facility I was transferred to, and was told no. At one point I was told by the person on the phone that she was told to have my wife pick it up. I do not have a wife, in fact I had been open with every staff member that I had any interaction with that my partner had passed away on Sept 02, 2018. In spite of the fact that I have nobody to pick up my medications, clothes, wallet, ID and possibly a debit card I had my bank mail to me at their address, GenPsych continues to refuse to bring my property to me, in spite of the facts that it's life sustaining medication and I'm only about 3 miles away from Bridgewater in Raritan. GenPsych only cares about 1 thing, the dollars while you're there, you're just a $ to them, if you're not creating revenue, you can DIE for all they care. read more

Absolutely love this place!! I can't say enough about it. I was recently discharged from Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead and they did absolutely nothing for me but once I got to GenPsych and completed treatment there I felt 100 times better. Erin Ritter was my therapist and I can't say enough about her. One night my mother and I got into a major fight which resulted in her she throwing me out of the house. The next day I went to GenPsych for treatment and I was understandably hysterical. I went to Erin and she immediately asked if I was ok first off and asked what I needed. I told her my mother threw me out of the house and she immediately started calling my family members and told them what happened and she got me a place to stay. Thanks to Erin I am so much calmer, so much happier and right now life is good. Erin if your reading this, thank you for giving me my life back!! read more

Ridiculous to even get to see a doctor. Multiple cancellations the day of with no explanation. I tried to call back to understand the cancellation/make a new appointment and I was put on hold for 12 minutes just to be put into someone's voicemail. Patients show up for their appointment with their e-mail reminder/confirmation only to get there and get told that the email was a "mistake" and they don't have room to fit in a very mentally unstable patient. No regard at all for the fragility of their patients. STAY AWAY. read more

I attended their outpatient program through the Brick, NJ office. I had been hospitalized for "bipolar'like" episodes of mania (which in many people's opinion and professional medical knowledge, now know that it is most likely PMDD, which is a difficult diagnosis to officially diagnose.) I was in the "zoom" program for four weeks. Group therapy can be helpful and interesting but what really turned me off was Amy Kowalewski, my advanced practice nurse and Danielle Pickard, my therapist. First of all, Amy ignored my request to look into the PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) Diagnosis. She was ignorant and niave. When it came to Amy prescribing yet ANOTHER anti-psychotic (on top of the two anti-psychotics and two other medications), I had questioned her reasoning and point. Because I was questioning her, they both called me "non-compliant" and proceeded to recommend an INPATIENT/ RESIDENTIAL program where I would have to live for about three months. If I chose not to go into a residential program, they couldn't help me anymore and that I would be kicked out of the program. Residential facilities take patient's who cannot function AT ALL and whom have attempted to take their lives, both of which WERE not ME. NOT A FAN. read more

I was recently a patient in the Outpatient Detox Program. It was the best choice I could have made. I've done inpatient detox a bunch of times and really didn't want to do it again. At GenPsych, I was able to go and get meds during the day, do a couple of groups and go home at night. The staff was cool, the food was alright but I wish they had better movies to watch. read more

I was in the substance abuse program in Bridgewater. My therapist, Michael Solinski was unbelievable. I've been in a number of programs over the years. I don't know if was me that changed or that I finally got the help I needed. It was a comfortable atmosphere, the docs were good and the food was pretty great too. This place is very unprofessional. I cannot tell you how many times I ran out of medication, and had to call daily until they refilled it. This happened almost every single time I needed a refill. As a result, I would go up to 2 weeks without my medication - which is a nightmare. They make you go for appointments too often, just to get more money, and are unfriendly. Seriously - go ANYWHERE else. If you are struggling, the last thing you need is to deal with is incompetence at your expense. read more

I would recommend not bothering to make an appointment with Dr. Kurien. I will be changing doctors as soon as possible. I've been dealing with anxiety for at least 10 years and Dr. Kurien has been the most unhelpful Doctor I've had. He doesn't listen when I'm trying to tell him how I've been reacting to the medicines he prescribed. He doesn't ask any questions and tells you to come back in a month. I am astounded how rude and incompetent he is. I will be doing my best to never return to his office. read more

Please don't go to see Dr Kurien. Probably the worse experience with a doctor I've ever had. First visit as a new patient was 10 minutes. He sat behind a desk at his computer and asked questions as if he was doing a questionnaire. Pressed a button and said I was bi-polar. I had been seeing a prior dr for depression for 6 years only on cymbalta. My dr. moved so I needed to find someone new. All I wanted was a new prescription for Cymbalta. He prescribed Latuda, Buspar and Lamictal...all in high doses? I am a certified pharmacy tech for 37 years and know pharmaceuticals. He couldn't care less about me, why I came, nothing. Thank goodness I know about drugs or he would have really screwed my brain up. Second visit was also 10 minutes. At the end he said and I quote, "I have other patients waiting." Please read this! Do not go here. Do NOT send your children or grandchildren here. Their experience will actually make them worse: more anxious, angry, nervous, etc. They will become more unhappy and difficult to work with because the therapists are unprofessional and completely unable to diagnose or heal those with anxiety issues. Therapists are condescending. Not suitable for young adults. Not at all helpful, and, I notice, the respondents to this survey used the words "infantilizing," "condescending," "scolding," "deigned," "rude," "unprofessional," etc. I cannot agree more. I only wish there was some process for taking them to task for their inept "treatment." Their group therapy and family therapy sessions are unhealthy. They make all issues worse and compound all problems. I submit they actually work to encourage clients to distrust their family members, to pull back from any family efforts to ameliorate the situation. They work to separate clients from their loved ones because they offer no kind assistance in alleviating anxiety between and among the family. This is done under the guise of developing "independent" thinking. I submit they purposely undercut and damaged my relationship with my granddaughter. The therapist brought me in, with my granddaughter, to admonish me for calling just to find out how she was doing. The therapist could have called me directly to speak with me privately about their rules and regulations. She didn't. Rather she admonished me in front of my granddaughter, thus, my granddaughter felt betrayed. This was not my intent. I merely sought the "professional" opinion of client progress, and what I could do to make things better. The effects of the entire process have been devastating. No help at all. read more

This facility is not equipped to handle anyone with any Bipolar Spectrum Disorder. Saturday started feeling depression after 3 weeks of feeling stable. Sunday I had no will to get up stayed in bed late and when I was able to get up 2 hours later was balling my eyes out not willing to move because of intense depression. Monday I called 3 times to talk to my doctor or therapist. Never got a chance to talk to any of them. Went to group at night and there was no one there to help me. Tuesday depression was so bad I couldn't focus and got into a car accident. Called 3 times to talk to someone kept getting transfered around. Any one who knows BSD knows that treatment is medication based and if you have symptoms like these your meds need to be changed. Not all meds, but an educated doctor needs to work with you to get the right meds. I'm about to go to the office un announced and demand a doctor or therapist to work with me. I've already lost so much of my life to this I don't need a mental health establishment just using me for insurance money. read more
