He set up a comprehensive, unique health plan for me (diet, supplements, exercise, and lifestyle) and I've stayed with it because I feel repaired and well- and there are no nasty side effects with this protocol! Dr. Bier always listens carefully and respects my views. He takes care of me in a holistic sense (mind, body, and spirit) and gets to the root cause of whatever ails me. Not only has he kept my blood cancer from progressing, but he has aptly addressed other health concerns such as osteoporosis, spinal alignment, and severe headaches over the last four years. All of this leaves me feeling very well! Thank you, Dr. Bier and HNNH Team!!

He is also quite frank, which may be off-putting to some but is appreciated if you want the possibly grim truth about your condition without being given false hope. However, if you are coming to him as someone who has received a fatal diagnosis, as my family member did, you will find his services dwindle as the patient does. And what I mean by that is the distinct impression that he will not be making money off of the patient after a certain point and becomes hard to reach when the going gets tough. He seems to give plenty of attention when you are still healthy enough to keep paying, but if you are terminal he tries to milk it up front. As my family member declined, he pawned us off on his staff instead of giving the direct attention he did in the beginning. But if you can afford the high cost of his care and are not terminal it's probably worth trying him out.

So when I recently pulled a muscle in my back, pretty much debilitating me, I thought this is the perfect ailment to try out the ancient art of acupuncture on. I did do some research on the steps that Western Medicine would take me through to relieve my back pain, which were bed rest, pain killers, physical therapy, and finally surgery. No, thank you, Mam! I knew a more holistic route was for me. I am so glad I went to Adam Learner at Family Acupuncture and Herbs. I did three sessions of acupuncture and started on a series of Chinese Herbs specifically designed to help acute back pain. I had about a 70% decrease in my back pain and just as much in mobility. The acupuncture itself is painless. And once the needles are administered you get a few minutes of good zen sleep. Family Acupuncture and Herbs can help with the relief of PMS, Arthritis, Weight Loss, and Back, Joint, and Knee Pain(and much more). If you are feeling unbalanced and have a lack of faith in what Western Medical practices can do for you, I definitely recommend checking out acupuncture. You will feel an increase in energy and desire to want to feel better. What can I say, I am hooked! A few more notes: I know that they accept some insurance policies, so that is worth checking out. They also sent me a $15 gift card for their in-house masseuse and 2 free 1st sessions of acupuncture for friends, which is awesome!

Sadly, reception was empty when I arrived and having never been there, I had no idea what to do or where to go. I sat in a waiting area for about 15 minutes but no one appeared. I finally decided to look around for someone but had no luck. My appointment was for 9:30 in the salt cave and I was running out of time. I found it on my own and laid down on one of the beds, but I felt like an intruder and I was very uncomfortable. So, after a while I decided to leave. A quick pit stop to the restroom before heading home revealed what I had been missing: directions on how to use the salt cave. By then it was too late, I was very embarrassed, and I just wanted to leave. I'll post the salt cave directions here for the next confused first timer. UPDATE: to clarify, "DO IT YOURSELF" is great for people who already know what they're doing. For a first timer, a little instruction is necessary. I had no idea what "DO IT YOURSELF" meant... did it mean walk in like I own the place and just know what to do or did it mean there would be a friendly person there who could give me a quick rundown on what I was supposed to do. It was obvious I was new to this by my clueless texts (which I will include). When I asked what I should wear, the pretty obvious response should have been, "it doesn't matter since you'll be changing into our PJs when you get here," not, "something comfortable." It really isn't obvious what to do when you get there so a few sentences of instruction could go a long way toward making first timers more comfortable.
