Went with a family member for a wisdom teeth consultation where I witnessed the Dr. Van De Graaff discussing confidential information with a patient on speaker phone for everyone else to hear. My family member had the surgery, where they forgot to remove a root and decided to rip it out once he was already awake without further numbing. They prescribed him an incredibly insufficient amount of pain medication and when we called to see about getting a correct amount, we were told that they couldn't because a woman took to many and almost died one time. I would not recommend this doctor if it was the last possible option. read more

My dentist was amazing. She did an amazing work. The only unfortunate thing is the assistant "Lidia", called me a transgender, and then was corrected when she was completely wrong, And started to cry in the back after I reported it to the dentist. The dentist told me that she was upset she called me that and is crying. The fact of the matter is that she works in a medical facility and for her to do and say that is completely unprofessional, unbelievable and against "Hippa"-violation, I will be following further complaints with the dentist Itself and Capitol dental, as well, this is extremely discrimination and need to be taken care of as soon as possible.. read more

While I cannot rate their level of care, their level of customer relations is poor. I called three times this week to set an appointment to have a tooth pulled. As there was no response to my messages, I traveled 30 miles to find out in person that they do not accept referrals from the Veterans Administration. A phone call would have saved me the trip and would be the minimum customer service. read more

Gentle Dental in Lebanon referred me here and I drove twice from Sweet Home to get impressions done for a partial, but the day before I was to get fitted they called saying they "lost their Denturist!" Lol! They said I'd have to go to Portland to start the process over again...I'm here seasonally and will be leaving the state soon so that was out of the question...Ironically this same thing happened with Gentle Dental Dallas 5 years ago when they too told me they had lost their denturist! Lol! I've been trying now for 10 years to get a partial made! I've had great success in Baja California with crowns and so will be returning for my partial...Gentle Dental has been the worst dental experience of my life... read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I had an appointment scheduled for today, got there in plenty of time, walked in and tried to check in. That's when everything went down hill. when I booked the appointment, I booked a cleaning. When I explained that to the receptionist and she said no, you have an exam appointment but no cleaning. So, they changed my appointment without me knowing. Then when I arrive at my appointment, they tell me that my granddaughter can't come back with me! She's 2 and it's just me and her, but they didn't care. So, the appointment that I waited 2 months for, GONE/ENDED! What kind of place doesn't let you take a child with you and if I needed an xray, she could have stepped out of the room for a brief moment. ‼‼I highly recommend for you to go to a different office than this one. All of the hygienists were really sweet and caring. The only real issue I had was with Dr. Van De Graaf. I had my wisdom teeth removed at this location because my insurance had told me that I HAD to go to this location. And let me tell you: NEVER AGAIN! I was already anxious about being in a dentist chair. (As someone who had braces for too long and is autistic) I have a huge fear of needles and dentists. It was so bad that I had to have my partner in the room until they sedated me. They had removed all four of my wisdom teeth in about 45mins. had woken me up and then realized that they had left a part of the tooth in. There's nothing gentle about this place. When I had gotten home, I noticed that there was blood on my lip and a small cut in the front of my mouth. I had also noticed that my arm was bruised on the outside and opposite arm that my IV was put in. I had called the day after my appointment because I couldn't sleep all night. In fact, I only got two and a half hours of sleep because of the pain. The prescription for pain relief didn't work until THREE hours later. When I did call however, I was met with unhelpful information. He refused to up my pain medication because apparently they had a woman take too much and almost died. Dr. Van de Graaf suggested that I came back in for some numbing shots when I live about a half an hour away. I told them that I can't do that. They then told me that I could take Tylenol along with three different pain meds and see if that would help. By the end of our conversation he had told me that the CDC is coming out with a new medication to help people with high pain medicine tolerance in a few YEARS. I'm sure the dental hygienists do a WONDERFUL job as they were super sweet and supportive with me. But as long as Dr. Van de Graaf is there: I WON'T BE GOING BACK THERE. EVER.‼‼ read more

No, Gentle Dental is not that great!! At first, I thought they were ok, until she ordered a lower partial for me. I was hoping the partial would fit perfectly and that I wouldn't have any problems. Wow!! Was I wrong!! I have to take my partial back in the 3rd time because they still don't fit right, they didn't put the wires in at first, knowing that they should have. And had they done that, I never would've had any problems to begin with. AND, they don't return your calls right away either. Not a good dentist to go to. I'm very dissatisfied with them! read more

I cannot give a higher rating just yet as this was my very first visit and had to do the "new patient" routine of x rays, teeth exam and gums. Due to Covid, it did take awhile to get this appointment, but no complaints here. This visit was extremely positive as the dental assistant Sue was so thorough and kind doing my x rays. I needed to schedule another appointment for my routine teeth cleaning (was out of state for a couple of years) and the front desk personnel were amazing, polite and personable. Yes, due to Covid changing our entire way of life now, my next appointment is 30 days out. I cannot blame them, I can only hope that if I have a real issue with any of my teeth, I can get in quicker than a couple weeks. So far, this has been an overall good experience. read more

I was in a bind last year when I needed a dentist, so I used Gentle Dentle. I will say the tooth extraction went smoothly and I was able to recover quickly. I paid my bill on the spot and left. In April 2018 (one year later) I received a bill stating I owed. Trying to collect my credit card statement for May of 2017 was a challenge but was able to get it a few months after April. Anyways, I went into the office and explained that I received a bill that I've paid for. I was told that this was a new bill - one insurance didnt pay for. I asked why I hadn't revived a bill and they said they sent one out in June of 2017. I never recieved it. They said they mailed me once a month but again I never recieved any thing except April of 2018. Eventually my bill went to collections and I had to pay the bill or I would have a hit on my credit score. The office is nice, sure, but costumer service could be better. And definately should have better communication. The only reason I didn't give the company anything lower than a 2 was because the tooth extraction and the no longer tooth pain I was in. Would I recommend this place? No. Even the debt collection lady said a lot of people said don't go there. read more

Took to a car accident in March I lost one of my front teeth. Due to covid it's been hard to find a dentist that was open at that time, but finally I got an appointment for today with gentle dental. I take good care of my teeth and I haven't been since my last cleaning and so today after months of waiting and being on a waitlist and nobody called me, after being sent a reminder that I had an appointment for today, and taking the day off from work, I show up at 2:00 p.m. and not only me but other patients as well have no appointment. They have no knowledge that we ever had an appointment and they're sorry. The manager was called out and I was told that the previous dentist had left (gee I wonder why they can't seem to keep dentists there) I was told that my appointment was not transferred from the schedule of the old dentist to the schedule of the new dentist. The manager continued to make excuses transition blah blah blah blah blah. Bottom line they need to be accountable and have staff that are knowledgeable and farsighted enough to realize that this sort of thing needs to happen. They seriously dropped the ball, it's cost me two days of pay today and the day that they rescheduled me for. I miss Dr. Catuna, I asked today they don't even remember him apparently they can't keep staff. I'm looking for a new dentist I'm fed up with gentle dental. EPIC FAIL!!! read more

Worst dentist in the history of Dentists!!! For 2 months, they screwed up my appointment time... Because I'm a truck driver, I had to schedule my appointment several months in advance... Then I had to take time off of work, to drive all the way to the office... After I got to the first office, and did all of the x-rays and the new patient exam... Then they told me that in order to get dentures, I was going to have to pay $25,000... They told me over the phone, that it was going to cost $1,500... That's a big damn difference isn't it. So you can imagine my surprise. @ my second appointment on this day, was at their other office, just up the street. After even more appointment confusion, I was finally able to get in to see the surgeon. The surgeon proceeded to tell me that he was going to want $100,000 for dentures... Imagine how extremely angered I was at this point... And he proceeded to tell me that he was refusing to pull my wisdom teeth, which were decayed and causing me severe pain. What the hell kind of dentist does things like this??? He said he wanted to build up a "trust level" with me before he pulled any teeth. I have insurance... Very expensive insurance... I do not want to be your friend. I am your boss, you are my employee. Do your job! I do mine, now do yours! I received extremely sickening treatment from these people, and I highly recommend you stay as far away from them as possible, as I will as well. read more

Dr Vi Pham saved my life. If he hadnt recommended and gave me a prescription for antibiotics I would have died. Sadly they wanted me to sign a contract which would commit me to paying them for over a year. I dont mind the contract but the prices were extravagant to say the least. Cannot afford them. My husband and I are both extremely satisfied patients of Albany Gentle Dental. All the staff there are amazing, helpful, and professional. My dentist is Dr. Pham, and he is a "genius" as I have told him many times. I have been going to dental appointments for nearly 70 years, and in all that time, Dr. Pham is by far the best dentist I have had. He truly cares about his patients, and does beautiful work. We have the highest regard for Albany Gentle Dental; we cannot thank them enough for taking the "fear" out of dentistry for us. read more

We still love our dentist here but the practice has become very corporate. Trying to get in to have a dental problem delt with the same day is next to impossible. They will get you in to look and possibly sit in the waiting room for and hour but can never do anything to fix the problem. You have to schedule another appointment to get it fixed. I had a tooth bothering me, all they could do was get me in to look at it and fix another day even though I was leaving town. I informed the receptionist I would like to make an appt to look at the tooth and fix it for when I get back into town. She said alright then promptly hung up on me. At that point I decided a new dental office was right for us. If you want straight to the point, not really courteous front desk then you will be fine here. If you would rather have an all around courteous experience that's not the corporate feel, I would go somewhere else. We've had many ups and downs here with the receptionists to stay so we have switched. The dentist's are great just to much of a corporate vibe going on there. read more

I needed an extraction after losing a crown and was recommended to see Dr. Van De Graaf at Gentle Dental, Albany. I twas quick and painless and no after-care problems. Very impressed. So I decided I'd transfer to this Albany office from Eugene...since I now lived in Albany. Yesterday I saw Dr.Joe Pham (go Beavers) for the most extensive exam I have ever received. I experienced the very best care from him and his hygienist, Melissa. From the time I met with the staff at the desk until I checked out, I was met with courtesy and an unusual level of care. Dr. Pham is the best dentist I have ever had. He constantly checks on you for any discomfort and is always willing to listen to questions and concerns. His first priority is always his patient and it is overly apparent. He runs a tight ship at Gentle Dental and it is all because he cares extremely about his patients. They have some of the most high tech equipment around, but are also affordable and willing to work out payment plans if you can't afford what you have to get done. I was not thrilled that when I got my orthodontics quote, they did not mention that I could get a better price (like $600.00 of their lowest quoted price) if I signed up with their smile plan since I do not have Ortho insurance which would have only cost me $59.00 to sign up. I felt like they hide this better pricing in hopes the customer does not realize that its available although they have pamphlets in their lobby. If you go in for a quote, make sure they talk about their smile plan pricing. It will save you hundreds! I ended up choosing another orthodontist because I was afraid of what else they wouldn't be upfront about. However, the nice lady that runs the service desk is very sweet and the orthodontist is very compassionate which is why this review isn't a 1 star. read more

Don't let the name Gentle Dental fool you.... This dental experience is hands down the WORST experience I've ever endured at the hands of a "doctor". I was a first time patient. Knowing I'd have to to fill out paper work for my two o'clock appointment I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork. At 2 when the dental assistant came for me we wen't back and did the usual new patient BS, took a couple x-rays, got a bit of history out of me, you know, the norm. I am told the doctor would see me shortly. "Cool beans", I think to myself. From here it stops being cool. After waiting for an hour and 15 minutes, the "doctor" , Yan Huang, finally gets around to seeing me. He numbs me up and say's he'd be back shortly... twice I'm skipped over by the doctor so that he could go do fillings on 2 different patients in the rooms adjacent to me. As another hour slowly piddles away he finally graces me with his presence. I tell him that the numbing agent is starting to wear off... In his broken English response he tells me that it should be fine cause we are almost done.... He takes what looks like a small screw drive to the tooth i want extracted and starts prying at it from every-which way. Successfully dislodging the filling from the tooth next to it..... Gee thanks.... oh wait it gets better... did someone say dental pliers? Sure did, and what a better way to wield these lovely things than putting your arm on your patients head to gain leverage. Yeah, So not only did I wait in a room for damn near 2 hours alone, I get get to replace a filling that didn't need to be removed, and my jaw feels like it had a 200+ lbs Asian man wrench at it. I really need to write my real dentist a note of appreciation for all the good work he does, and tell him that he needs to do extractions so that people don't have to suffer the likes of the butchers at Gentle Dental. read more

If I could give negative stars, I definately would. My 75 year old mother fell and needed an emergency dentist. Her teeth were visably pushed back and there was clearly infection. Kristi Columbe (not sure of that spelling) said there was nothing wrong with her teeth and there wasn't infection. She kept talking about some old cavities my mom has when clearly she had bigger problems than cavities! That "doctor" was incredibly rude and has zero bedside manner. I should have just taken my mom and left...but the situation was dire. My mom paid cash for the appointment and should be reimbursed for the entire thing! Luckily, she got into an actual Dentist who is treating all of the infection and is making a plan because her teeth are ruined. This Gentle Dental is a horrible, horrible place. read more

My dad was a patient there since the 8th of April, and so far Dr. Van De Graaff has done a fantastic job of treating his gum disease. In the beginning of May, he had to have several teeth pulled out, and Dr. Van De Graaff once again took care of him with great work; very little blood, good comfort, etc. After one week, my dad felt his gum feel much better and start feeling very well (It is not his first time getting several teeth pulled). However, after a week, he discovered a couple problems, and after contacting Dr. Van De Graaff right away, he immediately came back to their office and the doctor took care of him right there for no charge. After a couple of days, Dr. Van De Graaff discovered another problem that came from the poor treatment of my dad's old doctor 10 years ago, and was willing to immediately yet again fix the problem for no charge. Finally, my father feels great now, all due to Dr. Van De Graaff's great treatment. Dr. Van De Graaff consistently checks on my dad regularly, making sure he is comfortable and well. We are very thankful for Gentle Dental's and Dr. Van De Graaff's service. read more
