The dentistry at Gentle Dental Saugus is quite good actually. My wife had a lengthy service there. She is pleased with the results. I only had a few basic services and I was not pleased with the administrative practices. I'll get to the unwanted contact matter in just a second. My dentist was honest and his X-ray was accurate; however I noticed that my credit card was being charged. I was foolish to disclose that. Patients who are covered by a dental PPO are tossing away their right of appeal and fractionalizing their benefit Since I had cause to mistrust Gentle Dental i asked my insurance carrier if I could have my 2 teeth repaired by a dentist closer to my residence. The dentist closer in home did a great job repairing my teeth. There was one complication that should be noted by anyone seeking services at Gentle Dental One of my claims was denied. The dentist was patient and helped me with my appeal. I remember why my tooth had to be fixed and in 30 days, my appeal was granted . Gentle Dental would have debited my card and made an appeal impossible or at least very complicated Also I noticed in the Saugus and Beverly office there were posers interlopers leering about. Those individuals were not there for serious dentistry. On one occasion a few ladies were taking up space in the administrative front desk talking loudly on matters unrelated to dentistry. The front desk was blocked by there ladies and I was unable to approach to settle my matters. The same occurred at another visit. I recognized the fellows . Their true purpose is to serve and protect. Unfortunately they were doing far from that. I suspect the entire matter was staged. The experience was simply annoying, unnecessary and perhaps spiteful for some reason. My daughter for 10 years has been a loyal patient of Gentle Dental.she was attending graduate school and was treated well in Brighton close to her then residence in Allston. I always bought her a premium dental PPO plan to lighten her responsibilities. To this day she is still being treated at a distal Gentle Dental office out near 495. I have no idea why I was treated so badly because my daughter always tells me how pleased she is with her care. I tried to settle up with my wife's responsibility, but the claims seemed to be dragging. Finally there was insurance payment and i kept calling the Saugus office for a statement. My wife's dental work was 3/14/ 24. I received a muddled and confusing statement in September finally. The bill was generated from the Beverly location. I went there on 9/13 Friday to pay up and be done with Gentle Dental.; however the administrative assistant was unkind to me. I was told, since a service was given in Saugus, i had to settle in Saugus. I don't walk very well and need a cane to ambulate; therefore that employee was unkind and insensitive . I went to Saugus Monday 9/16. To settle and be done. In 2002 I was a patient at the Peabody location and I was very well treated. There were no problems and a received very good treatment. I have no idea why I was treated so badly in 2 locations in 2024. I suspect there were spiteful or resentful third parties who were staging unpleasant events. I closed 2024 on a very positive note. The line was short at the RMV the day after Christmas and I happily passed. I'd just like to drink my coffee and be left in peace.. I will thank others to do same. SCAM- Went here when I was 16 - they told me I had 12 cavities. I got them all filled and sometimes the same tooth filled twice. I've had issues for years since because the cavities were improperly filled. I take good care of my teeth and was taken advantage of by this dentist. They're also very rough. *sigh* I've been coming to a place for a long time now for cleanings and never had any issues up until 2 weeks ago. Every time I come in there they are always harassing me to take out all 4 of my wisdom teeth and I don't have a problem with my teeth so why go through excruciating pain if I don't have a problem. So of course they want to be able to get any type of money that they can do they saw that I wasn't interested so they said I needed to have 2 fillings because I had a cavity which is strange because I have been there for my cleanings and was never told about having a cavity. I was only there for my "gum" treatment but that's a whole another story. There was a dentist with an Indian background and an assistant but the name of R...ana and off jump I knew something was wrong because the assistant really didn't cure my teeth well and they injected the novacaine at the same time for the lower and upper side which she wasn't suppose to do because when you bite down to make sure your teeth match and they kept rushing me through the process and then saying that there wasn't nothing left to be taken off. As soon as the Novocain wore off my teeth were so sensitive my jawline was so sore from where she injected me. I had sensitivity when I flossed the upper part and the lower part of my jaw the tooth did t have resistance for when I floss meaning the food was getting stuck there and the floss literally couldn't do anything but go right through and my teeth couldn't sit properly and in top of that my teeth were really sharp which was cutting my tongue. I called them and asked them to fix this mistake and they tied to schedule me with the same dentist I said no thanks I want a second doctor to fix the mistake. Luckily the director fixed it and now my teeth are normal again. I only gave them 3 stars because the director fixed my teeth but sadly I will not be returning to this location due to this mistake because I don't have the time or the energy to be going back to have a dentist fix her mistake and then they had the nerve to say it's free of charge I wasn't gonna pay regardless because it was y'all mistake I will be going to another office read more

We've gone through the gamut - cleanings, deep cleanings, extractions, wisdom teeth removals, braces, mouth guards and emergencies. They've handled it all. I don't worry about the insurance process either. Spot on. And the team that handles the front desk/calls/appointments/challenging clients ... simply amazing. Terrible experience, my wisdom teeth been bothering me, so I called them on Monday, and made an appointment for Thursday September 30th at 1:00pm, and 1:30pm to have my teeth removed. So, I ask for day off and show up at appointment at 1:02. Sitting there waiting to be checked in for 15 minutes. And they told me my appointment need to be canceled because the oral surgeon isn't there due to emergency. I don't know how they are running their business, but you don't tell people they need to cancel their appointment when they showed up for their appointment. They said my only option is to make another appointment for next Thursday. So I will have to take another day off for this. I file the complaint at the corporate office, they told they that "the office "contact" me yesterday. But i didn't receive any phone call or text message from them. I LOVE going to the dentist, and "Gentle" dental lives up to their name! I went through a series of dentist due to poor service and frills, but this place is nothing like that, it's PERFECT. My dentist, and hygienist were awesome! She was meticulous, and easy-going with me; gave a demonstration of properly flossing my teeth and REWARDED me with a toothbrush! The receptionists have killer personalities, and very patient at going through the billing and insurance with me. She was thorough and very helpful in helping me in my decision making. I've been going to Gentle Dental for the past several years. The front desk is friendly and the hygienists are excellent. Unfortunately, that is where it stops! Last year I was told I need to have a crown done on my back lower tooth even though there was no cavity. They convinced me that there was a small crack although they did not show it to me and that eventually my tooth could break. It was very unexpected and I trusted they had my best interest in mind. Almost $2,000 later they put a crown on that tooth. Unbeknownst to me, they broke off a piece of the tooth next to the tooth they were fixing, when they forced the crown to fit on my tooth. I've had sensitivity for almost the past year and scheduled a recent cleaning and exam. I went in last week and they have a new "Dentist Director", Dr. Avni Pandhi. After my X-rays and cleaning, Dr. Pandhi came into the room. Without even asking me any pertinent questions regarding updates since my last visit and barely even introducing herself to me, she was examining the inside of my mouth. She started rattling off a bunch of teeth numbers and codes to the hygienist. After about 30 seconds she was finished. She then tells me I have SEVEN teeth that need fixed: 4 cavities and 3 soft enamel spots. I asked her how that was possible, since I come into Gentle Dental every year and I'm always told I have no cavities or issues. She literally had no answer for me. She was very matter of fact that all 7 teeth must be repaired as soon as possible and had told me she could fix all 7 teeth at the same time (in one appointment). After leaving, I had an appointment scheduled the following week for the 7 "repairs". There was a sick feeling in my gut like I was being taken advantage off. It just seemed totally impossible that I could legitimately have that many problems. After consulting with a previous Dentist of mine (who is also a friend) she encouraged me to find another dentist to get a second opinion. She told me to trust my gut because that was a huge red flag being told that I have that many problems all at once from a new dentist. I took her advice and found a new dentist. After going in for X-rays and a very thorough exam, I was told I only had ONE tooth that needed to be fixed. It was a cavity (the tooth next to my crown that they broke a small piece off). The new dentist explained in detail that food was getting caught in there and that it most likely is what led to the small cavity. She told me that was the only tooth needing repaired. I asked her how that could be, because the other dentist told me I had 7 teeth needing fillings or caps. She went over all of my teeth again, showed me the X-rays and was confident in her assessment. I went back to the new dentist yesterday and had the tooth filled. It took her 45 minutes to fix that tooth and rebuild the small portion that had been broken off at Gentle Dental. The new dentist fixed the only problem that I had and gave me peace of mind that I had no other issues. She told me that if I had done all 7 teeth, the other six teeth would have been compromised and could lead to many more issues down the road. She was also very skeptical about the crown that they convinced me to get last year. Fortunately, she saved me from that terrible treatment plan at Gentle Dental, as well as over $1800 in unnecessary work. The moral of my story and experience is to get a second opinion when things don't seem right. To be honest, I feel like I was totally being taken advantage of and the appointment with the new dentist made that crystal clear. Obviously, there can be some discrepancy between two different dentist exams, but to go from 7 teeth to 1 tooth needing repairs is total insanity. By the way, I'm a professional with a Master's degree, so this review is not coming from an unreliable source. Regardless, always seek that second opinion when something doesn't feel right or it might be costing you and your mouth considerably more while only benefiting a greedy dentist. read more

Beware of this place - I'm not sure if it's the whole chain or this particular office, but they are not to be trusted! I was told that I had six cavities and needed a crown "right away" or risked serious damage down the road. This was a little alarming as I've only had 2 cavities in my life (both caused by braces), so I got a second opinion from another dentist. The second dentist informed me that I only have 1 minor cavity, and that at some point I will most likely need a crown. When I asked if I needed to get the crown taken care of right away, I was told not to worry and that we'll just keep an eye on things moving forward. Gentle Dental was an absolute scam - they never showed me my Xrays and they were more concerned about signing me up for all sorts of treatments that weren't covered by insurance. BEWARE! read more

BEWARE OF SCAM!!!! I went here originally because I didn't have dental insurance and had a broken tooth that was bothering me. I got sucked in by their $57 first time patient check up. The broken tooth, as I expected, needed a root canal and crown. No issues there as it had been refilled 3 times by my previous dentist and finally just broke. My issue was that they (specifically Dr. Hraiz) told me I had 10, yes TEN, cavities that also "needed to be filled right away!!" OK, I get that I hadn't been to the dentist for 6-7 years, but c'mon, TEN cavities? I had one filled that they showed me on the X-ray. The filling came out awful! The tooth is all jagged and sharp so my tongue gets irritated all the time. I never went back. I finally just got dental insurance a year later after this appointment and went to see a real dentist recently. I told them about Dr. Hraiz telling me I had 10 cavities. Funny that they could only find one teeny, tiny cavity after scrutinizing my x-rays and teeth. This is a full 12 months after my original X-rays at Gentle Dental. Cavities don't just disappear. I'm getting a copy of my records from Gentle Dental and having my new dentist take a look at them. I will never, EVER go back to a Gentle Dental again!! read more

I want start out with how petrified i was to go to the dentist, I hadn't been in over 5 years. When i first went in i was greeted by friendly women and filled out some basic paperwork. I was seen immediately and the dental assistant Annie Murphy made me feel at ease describing the procedure of getting my first fillings. My doctor was Anna Pietrantoni and she was super nice and friendly. If i even winsed they asked if i was ok it took no more than 30 minutes for the 2 fillings and i was on my way. The process of getting braces for a child is not a simple endeavor. There are so many things to be considered, the price, the monthly appointments and the rules that must be followed by the wearer of the braces. Gentle Dental has made this easier for me and my son. The first appointment was a free consult. The process of how braces work was fully explained to us. They reviewed the payment options and lastly they talked to my son on how to take care of his new braces. The office staff has always welcomed us with professionalism. They accommodate us when scheduling the required monthly appointments. They are very patient with not just us but with every client I have seen in the office. The office is clean and the atmosphere is calm. The office staff does not seen to be rattled by the sometimes large number of clients that seem to appear out of nowhere. The staff give each client individual attention and assure them that they will be taken care. The dentist are also concerned with the needs of the patients. They do not rush the patients. They treat each patient individually. I recalled when the dentist approached me talk my son's specific needs and gave me clear instructions. If the dentist saw something that was concerning, he did not hesitate to communicate it to me. Gentle dentle was dirty, gross, and unprofessional. I waited 45 minutes to be put in a room, for a brace consultation. It was a chaotic loud mess with way to many customers booked. When we finally were in a room, the receptionist came in and asked what kind of braces I wanted, before the dentist could even say if I needed them. I have straight teeth. Then, when he was examining my teeth, trying to explain why my teeth are a little bit out of line she was babbling about Invisalign and brace types. When the dentist left, the receptionist kept saying I'll be back in a few minutes to compare the prices of the options. She would be standing there doing nothing talking to her fellow workers about non sense. We were left in the room for 20 minutes all alone when she would take her absences. Not to mention, the whole place was carpeted. The carpet was disgusting and was filled with dirt and crumbs. Also, the patient chairs in the dentist rooms had crumbs and stains on them. This place is a scam...took advantage of my 84 yr old mother, no explanation after the $57- cleaning- xray, dentist comes in and start's working on her..after, someone comes in and tell's her she owes $1438- she can pay half, ($719-) and the rest when she come's back! So a meeting with the office director(Ashley) is made for 1:00pm. I went with my mother and we were there at 12:45 ..old people...1pm came and we were put into a cubical..not a office, and a nice lady tried to explain what happened..joke...my mother kept saying "nothing was explained" but the lady didn't speak English so good..we waited until 1:20 because the manager was busy...so we left!!...bunch of swear words..class action! read more

Went in for a small piece of my tooth broken the night after Christmas was over charged for a temporary crown was told I would be called the next day to see if they took my dental insurances (two of them) never received a call. The worst part is they did something during the procedure and a small piece of broken tooth has now turned into excruciating pain (when I had none previously) and a 1000$ root canal....that I didn't need until they touched my tooth and messed something up.
