I had to book an appointment with Gentle Touch after cracking some of my teeth from grinding them in my sleep. I was so freaked out by what happened and wasn't sure what to do. There was pain and tooth sensitivity and I needed help fast. I was able to start up as a new patient and get an appointment to come in to have it looked at. I did a cleaning the first session and then went back for the required fillings not too long after. Gentle Touch was true to the name in that all the procedures were as painless as can be. I was even more surprised that after insurance my bill came out to be very affordable. It's now been several months and I haven't had anymore issues and my teeth feel as if back to normal. ahhhh finally a dentist that makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience! dr. hidalgo was so sweet and gentle and described everything she was doing so my usual thoughts of "what the heck is going on in my mouth...how much longer...what the heck is that thing with the spikes!?!" were not an issue at all. she even took pictures of my teeth and put them on a big screen so i could see exactly what was going on in there. i've never ever seen my teeth that close! the office itself is extremely clean, comfortable, and almost had a "homey" feel that put me at ease. one thing that helped me relax was the flat-screen tv that is in every room. the tv is on the moveable arm that also holds the lights that point toward your mouth so it is always in view and close-up. they also have wireless earphones to listen to the tv which drowns out all the crazy dental tool noise. they really think of everything here, including safety goggles so you don't have a big glob of cinnamon toothpaste shot into your eye like the last place i went to in arlington that will remain un-named. thank you dr. hidalgo for making a filling so fulfilling. This is a wonderful place to go for dental care. I found Dr. Hidalgo after a dental emergency. She was the only one to call me back at 9pm on a Thursday night. I have since continued to see her. She and her staff are warm and go to great lengths to make you feel comfortable. With my emergency procedure I was terrified after a previous bad experience in another office. She talked me through it and helped me feel better during the procedure. Their office hours are structured well for working people. The office environment is top notch, and the TVs in each area helps to take your mind of what is being done. I would highly recommend Dr. Hidalgo. I will not be returning to Gentle Touch Dental PC. I arrived to Gentle Touch as a new patient & new to the DC area. Normally, I am a regular patient that gets cleanings every 6 months. I have loved the dentist until this day. Upon entering the clinic, I was acknowledged by the receptionist after some time. She handed me forms to fill out. The COVID questionnaire was at the bottom of the forms. So if another patient had answered yes to any of the forms he/she/they would have answered all the forms (~10 mins) while sitting in the lobby with other patients before leaving the office due to not meeting the COVID criteria. This worried me. Additionally, my temperature was not taken until right before my hygienist retrieved me which was ~20 minutes from arriving to the clinic. Once I was seen, the hygienist spoke very little english. Unfortunately, it made the language barrier impossible to communicate the dental care I needed. Instead she continued to push X-rays & the 'normal' office visit without listening/understanding what I had to say. I did not need x-rays. I had emailed my previous x-rays to Gentle Touch. A month prior to the appointment, I had called Gentle Touch to ask how to transfer records & they informed me to email the recent x-rays. I did so. When I arrived to my appointment, I was instantly accused by the receptionist that the x-rays were never emailed. She was hostile & not customer friendly. I showed her the email on my phone & re-sent the x-rays twice. However, she was visibly frustrated that I was taking her time (even though she had lost the emails) & bullied me into getting the x-rays. I obliged. While the hygienist was placing the x-ray stints in my mouth, I explained to her that the last one was not fitting in my mouth & hurt when she was shoving it in. She did not understand my english and thus kept trying to shove the stint in my mouth. Finally, she got another hygienist who spoke english & knew the solution. Then I waited 30 min in the chair on the doctor without any teeth being cleaned or future appointments scheduled or any other efficient task completed. The doctor was very personable. He told me I did not have a cavity but may have something below my sealant that he wanted to look into. I requested to look into it at a later time which he said was perfectly safe. When the receptionist arrived, she handed me a cavity diagnosis to which I explained that the doctor didn't say I had a cavity but wanted to look into it. She refused to explain further & again was visibly angry that I was questioning her at all. Finally, I had enough, I left the chair, requested the amount for my copay to the other kinder receptionist, paid my co-pay and left. I will never be returning to Gentle Touch & intend to ensure that no friends or family go there as well. This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. read more

just now I highly recommend Gentle Touch Dental, I took my 6 year old daughter for a cleaning and 4 fillings due to cavities. Can't express how amazing the doctor and his team were to us. Not only were they super profesional, but they showed they care for my little patient. They were extra sweet to her and explained everything really well to me while they were working on my daughter's teeth. I don't see ourselves ever going anywhere else for our dental needs. read more

Disappointing experience...I went for check up and received a quote for treatment. A couple of days later, when I tried to make an appointment for treatment, the receptionist told me that the calculation has been wrong and I now have to pay higher price. I do not know anyone there, I have no idea if the dentists are good or not. However, the trick was mean and will keep me away from that place. read more

My family and I just found out about this place and could not be any happier with our service. Dr. Joy Salumbides is such a great doctor! She made me feel very comfortable and made the time go by supper quick. The dental assistants and the receptionists are very sweet as well and helped me set up my appointments around what worked best for me. I work at a pediatric dental office and this is definitely the best family dentistry I have ever gone to. The doctor I work with even asked to see the work Dr. Joy Salumbides had done and she said she has done an amazing job. They stand by their work and if you are not content with it they tell you to come back to make sure you are satisfied (which I have never had to do because it has always been great!) My first visit Gentle touch went well overall. The hygienist did a decent job and I had a straight forward exam from Dr. Joy. She seemed young and her answers to questions did not exude experience, however I was satisfied with the overall experience. My girlfriend was in need of a referral so I directed here to Gentle Touch. She was having problems with a tooth that was borderline in need of a root canal. After couple visits and Dr. Joy just performing touch up fills and giving the run around, my girlfriend started to get frustrated as pain/sensitivity persisted. The final trip to Dr. Joy resulted in an infection. A call to Dr. joy got nowhere as she was given the symptoms. I consulted with a family member who was a former dentist prior so I knew that antibiotics were in need. Long story short I encouraged Dr. Joy to call in antibiotics. Never heard from her again. No check up call or anything. I would strongly advise not using this inexperienced dentist or a dental practice that would allow this. read more

This clinic is run by a team of women! They are compassionate, excellent communicators, and this is probably the ONLY time you will have a peace of mind going to the dentist! I highly highly recomment Dr. Hidalgo and her staff's services. Dr. Hidalgo, is engaging, she listens and discusses your dental goals and plans with you in an excellent manner. I never ever wait more than 2 minutes in the waiting area or the chair before someone sees me at my appt. time. I hate the waiting. Aside from all of this, her services and techniques are so softly conducted, that yes even though the services are uncomfortable experiences, you will immediatly be able to tell that she puts in everything she can, in whatever angle she can, to make sure it's your best experience that you have had at the dentist. I am here for a short time in DC, and one of the most unfortunate things is that I will not find a dentist like her back home. I highly recommend her for anyone. read more
