I've had trouble finding a good haircut since my sister left NYC ten years ago. This is the first place I found that really nailed it. I highly recommend. The service is outstanding, and the owner definitely pays attention to detail. My barber really listened to what I wanted and told me he was going to take longer with me because it was my first time and he wanted to truly understand my perfect cut. I have been going to this place for a year now but the barbers keep changing and that is not helpful. I got a pretty bad haircut today, where the barber (Valentina) showed no care or precision. I feel a $13 hair cut is downtown is done with more precision than the hair cut I got. See the pictures attached to see the difference in hairline above the ears. Great barbershop in Tribeca! I don't trust women to cut my hair for some reason, so I started going to barbershops. Hands down, one of the coolest barbershops I have ever been to. The vibe is awesome and the people that work there are chill. They even offered me a nice cup of cappuccino while I waited. After my haircut, the barber gave me a neck massage using his handheld massager device, and a hot facial towel too! read more

Do not believe the other reviews. They are fake! Pasqual does not speak English. AT ALL! The girl at the front with marginal English has to translate for him. I *had* hair down to my shoulders. I asked to take a 2-3 inches off the back. Clean up and, like a lot of people with long hair, shorten it underneath to thin it out. Pasqual obvious understand nothing proceed to chop 6 inches off my bangs. When I freaked and the girl came back over she tried to "fix it" by telling me how it should be cut and their way would be better than what I asked. It was all I could do to get them to just even the other side to match before leaving as fast as I could. NEVER go here. This place is incompetent and unprofessional. read more

This has potential to be great regular spot for tribeca ballers who can afford $300+ for shave haircut and facial every month. I am targeting this as a treat yo-self quarterly indulgence. Make sure you email ahead of time with the services you want. Choose a day where they schedule because there are barbers 500 feet in each direction for a cut and shave for 1/4 price. This establishment is meant to be enjoyed. Non-transactional. My inaugural visit involved a talented barber that did not speak English He was wonderful and I'm pleased with the results. But it made it hard to order the services I wanted. I told my barber that I would like an anti aging facial, haircut, beard trim and hot shave. But without communication; without English, he nodded and then gave me haircut and beard trim. 5 star potential but I feel badly that this barber was unassisted. I'll be back!!!!!! read more

Recently got a cut here for the first time and was extremely disappointed. The haircut I received was good, but nothing like what I asked for. Wanted to keep my hair longer and the Barber kept arguing about the way it would look. Also, I originally had an appointment with Jeff, but when entering Jeff sent me to another person only to tell me after that the Barber I went to was not in fact Jeff. Nice guys, but super unprofessional. Will definitely not be back. When you have an appointment with someone you should stick to that appointment. I've been going to this barbershop for close a year now because I started a new job in the area, and I'm very glad I chose to stick with them. With my upcoming wedding, I wanted to find a barber (and stick with) that could work with my hair, attention to detail. Not only how to fade my hair the way that I would routinely get in Washington Heights, but also be able to use scissors with the finesse of a stylist at a high-end salon. Needless to say, I found it here. Tosho cuts your hair with the same attention and care every time. He knows how to use scissors expertly, it shows in his work. This isn't all, he has to be one of the most accommodating and friendliest barbers that I've come across in a very long time! My wedding cut came out exactly how I wanted with him, he works with you until you are happy. The price is somewhat higher (around 50$) than a normal run of the mill barbershop. However, when compared to high-end NYC salons, this is very reasonable. Shampoo, massage, coffee/whisky shot, and most important of all a precise-cut exactly how you want it. Worth it. read more

Emilia was great. But don't like the salon. Emilia gave my husband a nice cut, and even gave me a trim, saving me from a dreadful cut I'd had elsewhere. She did a good job trying to save it. I found our overall reception quite cold and people didn't really bother greeting us, offered other customers drinks, but not either of us, etc. Every time I asked for anything (a cup of coffee already freely offered to others, to check in, to check out, etc.), they acted like it was a HUGE imposition and they couldn't be bothered. Do not go to Sapna for a haircut as she doesn't have a clue as to what she's doing. I asked for a basic skin fade which she clearly doesn't know how to do and somehow left with more hair on my head then when I had when I got there. Now I'm going to a different barber the same day Which is never what you're looking for. The place is nice and the hostess offering coffee or water is a very nice tough. But the haircut was horrible, especially for the outrageous price. Also, the shoulder massage is a total joke...do not waste your time. I would never go back. read more

Who would have thought that a haircut on a Friday could turn my week around? Today I received a haircut from Daniel who did such a great job cutting my hair. I always appreciate Daniel's attention to detail, relatable small talk and friendly demeanor. As a young African American male I have found it incredibly difficult to get a haircut in Tribeca but this place has changed all of that for me. The owner was also very friendly and even offered me a shot of Tequila. I will be back very soon for a facial and would recommend this Barber spa to any professional in the Tribeca area. This last time, I specifically asked for them to not remove any length and just clean it up and I left with a crew cut. After weeks of interest, walking by this upscale barber shop with a barcart of assorted whiskeys in the window, finally stopped in for a fresh cut. I was paired with Daniel almost immediately, then he helped me choose a style that would compliment my head/body shape. Then Daniel went on to give me the BEST haircut I've ever had, while carrying on casual conversation the whole time. After finishing the cut, he gave a great shampoo and conditioning wash, and taught me how to blow-dry and style my hair. Can't stress enough how far above-and-beyond it is to actually teach me how to maintain my new hairdo. Would highly recommend Gentleman's Barber Spa, and ask for Daniel if he's available! read more

I came here today for a haircut. The environment is very inviting. They team is very friendly. Priscilla cut my hair and she was super nice and very professional. Since my hair is getting pretty long, I wanted more of a short clean sharp cut. She convinced me to try something different that she envisioned. I went with it and it turned out to be the polar opposite of where I wanted to land. Reactions by people have not been great today. The most common reaction was that it didn't even seem like I had anything cut. It's so subtle and still so messy -- not the clean sharp feeling you get when you leave a barber. I'm on my way to a differently barber now to actually clean it up a bit. I quietly left, even left a nice tip. It was a nice idea to try this place but it's not the best cut. read more
