After checking out their menu, I was excited for some American style food since my European travels had exceeded almost three weeks. We gave George Byron a try after checking out menus from a few neighboring restaurants. We ordered a veggie burger and my husband ordered wings. Both items were served with a side of fries. We had no issues or concerns with the food. The food here was delicious however, this restaurant is definitely a tourist trap and very overpriced for what you actually receive. Our issue here was the service. We were seated near the bar area in a booth that had no AC, no fan and very little ventilation. The servers were both generally unfriendly and seemed disinterested. At one point a woman of African descent entered the restaurant and asked the bartender a question. After she left, my husband heard one of them say a racial slur in Italian. Unacceptable. Oh, yes we are American, but we know the bad words. We can only imagine what was said about us after we left if this is how they treat customers. There are similar reviews online that state customer service issues with this establishment. I urge you to find a place that actually welcomes your business and diversity. read more

Decent pub style food with okay prices. If you kiss you're western style food and breakfast it is definitely a good place to go too. Nothing is standout, I ordered the eggs, bacon, and fries. The bacon was the highlight of the dish because its European and Italian style bacon (very forge in taste from what westerners are used too... It's very very good yet thick). The coffee/expresso was just okay. Overall, it was a decent breakfast to tie us over. Nothing stood out. It is what it is, a great place to sit down, catch a breath order a small meal and get on with your day. read more

While walking around killing time before dinner my husband and I stopped in here. The bartenders were friendly and welcoming; we found a seat by the window and waited for our drinks. We didn't wait long, which was lucky since I haven't tasted cider since our move to Cairo from Seattle in August. We sat drinking our beverages, watching the rain and people going about their night. Every time we visit Rome, George Byron Cafe is one of the places we visit just for their couscous. I'm sure their other dishes are delicious. We ate dinner here only because they were not pushy, trying to get us to come in and eat like everywhere else you go in Rome. The food was okay. My husband had the ribs, which weren't that great, they were kind of rubbery, small and not very meaty. I had the cannelloni and was kind if bland. The bar is nice enough, looks like a typical neighborhood bar. The people here were nice and not pushy, which is why I'm giving them three stars. read more

My husband and I stopped here to get a drink and people watch. We sat outside on via Nazionale and watched people while enjoying a drink. My husband had a negroni and I had a glass of wine. We split a bruschetta while we drank. It was pretty good, but I have had better. I highly recommend this location for people watching, but I can't really attest to the quality of the food. read more

Wife and I have been stopping by this place since we arrived in Rome. It's walking distance from our Hotel. We've only been by in the morning and the service was fantastic..great coffee and Danish. Outdoor seating available and it's very pleasant during the week to sit and watch all locals transport to work. Very clean.. we'll be back in the morning. read more

Stopped in this cafe for a beer and was treated so poorly, the worst attitude and rudeness we had encountered during our travels in Rome. I asked the bartender if he spoke English, in Italian, because I wanted to know about their beers and my Italian is not that fluent. The rudeness I received in return brought me to tears, and I am used to Italians not being overly friendly. If you are an American, or even just a tourist, stay far, far away. read more

Started out with a Caprese salad which was very tasty then we had the Salmon Penne Pasta and Spinach Ricotta Rigatoni. Both were delicious! Then the server And bartender and I had a discussion on the proper way to tip in Italy. As an American I feel like I'm a very generous tipper. I also follow the general rules of tipping in any country that I may travel to. However both the bartender and a server were flippant in this area. read more

A decent place to grab an espresso, cappuccino, etc. We stopped here for breakfast and they have a decent selection of breakfast combos. The scrambled eggs with bacon comes with a cappuccino is €8. Given that it is in a tourist area, I am OK with that. However if you are looking for an amazing American brunch, this is not the place. The best penne al'arribiata I had in Rome, and super affordable. The service fluctuates so you may wait a while for your check, but it's nice because you just kick back and take in the pace of Rome around you. The gypsies peddling their wares at you gets annoying but just tell the wait staff and they'll shoo them away. The brownie dessert is great, as is the bruschetta and Greek salad. It's been 2 years since we were there, but it was so memorable and enjoyable we recommended it to our friends who are in Italy right now. Our first visit was In 2009, just my husband and I. We found Byron's by accident, just stepping out of our hotel and ducking into the first place that looked good. Rome was our last stop in Italy. It's not that we were tired of Italian food, but by then foods normally familiar to us were now a treat, some variety - Caesar salad, meat and potatoes, and a pub-worthy selection of beers. A few years later we went back with our kids. We all enjoyed it again, so much that we were there a couple of times for dinner. This time our hotel was far enough away we needed a taxi, but it was worth it. read more
