We were here 10 years ago and this was a great excursion and experience. Update to June 2026 it was horrible. We ate breakfast on the boat and had to be on the dock at 8am. We got on the bus and arrived at the George inlet lodge at 8.30. Expecting to go out on the boat for a couple hours. First thing they did was stuff us in the smallest dining room literally on top of each other and fed us a salad at 8.45am....i kid you not. Then at 8.55am there bringing out crab? We just ate breakfast and then this. Horrible horrible . At 9.15am they're bringing out blue berry cheesecake. About 9.30 were herded in to a single file line to go on the boat. Im not sure why George inlet lodge stooped this low or if Holland America was forcing this kind of schedule. There were probably six busses lined up and parked outside. Shame on George inlet lodge and shame on Holland America for thier horrible excursion which cost us about $300. Do not do this excursion its a total rip off to be force fed salad at 8.45am??? DO NOT TAKE THIS EXCURSION TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. read more

This is such a great place and the all you can eat crab is fantastic. So, I've always eaten my Dungeness crab cold but this was warm. Surprise! It was still delicious but I will say that I prefer cold. We booked the ride to the Lodge, all you can eat (in three rounds), but we also received instructions for cracking the crab, a salad and an incredible tasting cheesecake!! Even if you think you don't have room, take a bite. I did and then ate the whole thing. I will say that dragging myself up six flights of stairs after eating that much wasn't fun and I wish I had more time in the cute gift shop, but I didn't want to get left behind!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST LIFE CHANGING DUNGEONESS CRAB EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! Okay, so I might sound over dramatic. However, if you decide to go on an Alaskan cruise, trip, or whatever the reason. This should not be missed if you're a fan of crab legs. I booked this tour with Alaska shore excursion before my cruise. My dad is ADA so it is hard to find good excursions that would accommodate him. But the staff was so kind and friendly that it made the experience great for our family! They picked us up from the rain gauge which was a short walk from our cruise ship. Our driver gave us stickers to know who was in our group. When we drove to the lodge, he even stopped for a bit to point out the wild bears along the way. When we got to the venue, they drove us straight down to the Ada area to avoid the hard stairs it would take for my dad to walk down. During the crab experience we had amazing hosts showing us how to properly eat crabs. We went through at least 3 rounds of fresh dungeons crab legs. (Make sure you dip it in the fresh butter!!) *mouth watering and still dreaming about this moment* There was even a crab shell tower challenge to see who could pile the most crab legs (using any means necessary) I got greedy and asked my sister to add height using a fork and the other competitors copied us and then we ended up gaining 3rd place. Still the overall experience was the highlight of our family trip. The staff is so funny, accommodating and is 10/10. Can't wait to recommend this to everyone I know! The warm crab meat just melts in your mouth and the crab portions were generous. What we came here for! The servers were efficient, fun, and lively. We went here for an all-you-can-eat Dungeness crab feast. If you are mobility impaired, I recommend coming by boat so you won't have to negotiate the 100 or so steps to the parking lot. The crab was really flavorful and worth the $100+ dollars. You start with a salad, then three flights of crab, and you can choose to have multiple legs at each serving. You will not leave hungry. The blueberry cheesecake for dessert was absolutely perfect. Beer, cider or a soft drink were included in the price. Nice gift shop after you've finished eating. Beautiful location near the end of the highway that goes south out of Ketchikan. Definitely worth a return visit. read more

What a crab feast! Our tour of the George Inlet included a crab feast here. There were two large groups, so nearly every table was occupied. We started with drinks and a nice salad. Next came a very entertaining demonstration of how to extract the crab meat from a crab. Crab legs were served in large portions with an additional two more times to load up. Basically all you can eat!! The crab was absolutely delicious. No one left wanting more. They have a contest to see who can create the highest pile of crab leg remnants. They encouraged cheating. The locals in the room knew the tricks so they won. The meal concluded with cheese cake with a blueberry sauce. Warm damp wash clothes were then passed out for everyone to tidy up. I went 5/13/2026 off an excursion with princess cruise line for the all you can eat Dungeness crab. I will be attaching screenshots of the advertised description to back my review. The tour bus was over a half hour late due to traffic, of course out of their control. I do not fault them for this however, once we finally arrived at the lodge, we were ushered into a very packed and crowded room where they had a salad waiting and announced, they would be serving crab. They went around, took our drink orders and let us eat our salad before they started to serve crab. Once we stepping in the door I decided to time it since they were hearding us like cattle. At the time they said we had to leave and the crab "feast" was over was exactly 28 minutes. . . . 62 minutes shy of what was advertised. It clearly states in their advertisement that you have an hour and a half for all you can eat, dungeon crab legs, cheesecake, and complementary beer or wine or soft drinks are included. We were never offered beer wine only soft drinks. The crab was old. There's no disputing that. It was discolored, tasteless, and very rubbery. It was most definitely frozen for a very long period. In my opinion the crab would have been bad within a day. I am extremely disappointed with this. I love crab and really looked forward to this. I would like a full refund of my money for this excursion, and I highly encourage others to avoid them at any cost. There are a lot of crab places to eat at in Alaska pick one that values their customers and serves fresh tasty crab legs. read more

Well first I must say this was my second visit and once again it was just as good as the first. This visit I did not take the boat excursion seeing how they harvest crabs. The boat excursion is worth it because it is more than just carb harvesting. We actually did not have time in our itinerary for the excursion and crab feast. A good part of the staff at the lodge are new each year, yet the experience was just as good as the first. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. All around George's Inlet Lodge there are plenty of great opportunities for photos. For the Dungeness Crab Feast, We were the first to be seated in our room and the service was excellent. When you arrive into the room, your salad and a glass of ice water are waiting for you. Once seated, a drink order is taken. Once everyone is seated, they start explaining the simple process of the crab feast. Bring on the crab and the feast begins. It's not just an all you can eat crab feast. It's an experience and they make it fun! All of the food at George's Inlet is great.The Dungeness Crab, in my opinion, is even better than Lobster! Just wait for the dessert, Yummy! In my opinion, this whole experience at George's Inlet is a great value! HINT: Booking this excursion on your own, puts you in a van owned and operated by lodge staff opposed to a large bus which the cruise lines offer. Our shuttle driver was very friendly and personable. He educated about the area along the way and stopped in a few areas where the buses cannot stop. One was an amazing waterfall! The Pro to this is that it is a better experience. We went to George inlet lodge as part of a cruise excursion, about a 20 minute drive from Newtown in Ketchikan. We started with a 1-1.5 hr boar tour saw eagles and seals than the guide pulled a crab pot with some dungenous crabs. He allowed everyone to hold the crab and one person got to pull up the pot. The guide was super informative and we learned a lot about the area. Afterwards we came back to the lodge and sat down for a crab feast. To start we were offered 1 alcoholic beverage or a soda drink. They were not skimpy by any means in an 1 hour period we ate 4-5 crabs each. Afterwards we were served a blueberry cheesecake. Definitely would recommend for a nice 3.5 hour excursion. read more

We got to do both activities as part of a Shore excursion from NCL. To get down to the lodge, one must take a series of 70+ wooden steps down to the waters edge. Later as part of the boat tour, we learned that the bottom of the lodge is actually still below high tide and will actually flood at parts of the year. The only people who stay overnight at the Lodge are the employees of the lodge that service the tourists during season. All of them were superb. read more

Came here on a cruise ship excursion that was coupled with the lumberjack show. They definitely have the whole experience streamlined. We were packed in like sardines; there is not much arm room between you and the guest next to you. Individual salads were already placed on the table for people to start eating when coming in. The options for drinks included unlimited soda or first beer/wine free. There was a terrible stench when first walking into the room they served us. Over time, the smell goes away, but there is definitely a smell. After salads, they show you how to open crab, and then they start serving. There are 3 rounds of crab. They'll come by occasionally and fill you up with more crab but I felt like by the time they got to me, they were almost always out. They'll call last round and then serve a cheesecake dessert. Overall, the food was delicious & the crab was fresh. I just wish they had a bigger/cleaner dining area & that we had a longer time to eat. It was all very rushed. read more

Bit of a bummer they don't allow tips when using card or have a tip jar we could find on our way out. Quite unfortunate because we wanted to add to the tip jar so badly! We came here for lunch after our UTV adventure that was booked through Celebrity Cruises (the excursion included the UTV tour and lunch). After our UTV tour, the group was picked up in a boat that gave us a brief tour of the area around us and we were able to stop a few times to see some bald eagles and the guide even pointed out some eagles' nests high up in the trees facing the shore. Upon arrival, lunch was set up in a large room including the beer flight ready to sip. Lunch included a roll, crab and corn chowder with half a crab as the main entree and cheesecake for dessert. The food was delicious and they offer seconds if people are still hunger after. There's also a cute little souvenir shop on the property that has some local root beer and cream sodas. The flight up the stairs to the shuttle area is a good workout after the big lunch. read more

While cruising in Alaska, my husband really had his heart set on all-you-can-eat crabs. This is basically the place in Ketchikan to do it, although it's usually bundled with a tour. Luckily when we got into port we were able to find just the food portion for half the price, which included transportation to and from the strip. We were sat in a small room with about 6 other people (who happened to be on another ship). We got lots of crab and it was nice and intimate. While the crabs were delicious, I'm giving this four stars because the lunch can be a little rushed. We had a small intimate group so it wasn't too bad, but you might end up with a larger group of 30-100 people, especially if you bundle this with a tour. We had other passengers on tour bundles tell us how they didn't have as much time to eat and it felt more informal. Also don't just assume the tour will come first and then food. It's all random, so don't necessarily fill up on breakfast beforehand. I'd still recommend this, although if you just want the food without the tour, you'll have to make reservations outside of the cruise line excursions. Or if you bundle this with a tour, just prepared for the eating experience to be a bit more rushed. read more

First time here. Came on a cruise to Alaska on the NCL bliss. Went on the george inlet fjords safari, Kraft beers and Dungeness crab excursion. This place is awesome. Our server was exceedingly knowledgeable. We got to try some crab chowder, salmon dip with crackers and tasted five different beers all brewed in Alaska. The crab was phenomenal. Highly recommend. I had never had crab legs so first time trying it and it was delicious. For desert we were served blueberry cheesecake and it was one of the best tasting cheesecake I've ever had. They do serve chicken for those who are not a big fan of seafood like my sister. She ordered Cajun chicken and really enjoyed it. The beers were great. Overall great place. Came here on an excursion after the lumberjack show. Had a great day overall! The staff, Dave and Kaitlyn, were awesome. So helpful with cracking and refilling our plates. If I could rate 3.5 stars, I would. 3 is low and 4 is high. We got about four helpings each. Some of us could have kept going and the others of us were full. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The views were amazing! I know it's a crab fest and you only get 90 minutes but I would have loved a side dish. Corn, potatoes, bread, something.... The starter salad was nice but the dressing was oily and not very flavorful. I know people were huffing and puffing on the long walk up stairs back to the bus but it wasn't that bad.... We decided to book the crabbing tour and Dungeness crab feast while here in port. I felt like the description didn't meet what occurred. We were packed into the boat like sardines and couldn't see through the windows at all. They should Defog them. They make stuff to do that. They only pulled up 1 crab pot and everyone was pushing because it was just overcrowded. On the way back they threw herring to the eagles and one swooped down to get it, but again, too many people on the boat and couldn't really see. You can't tell from the pictures because I took photos when we were loading and from above people's heads. When we arrived back to the dock we were taken into the lodge for the Dungeness crab feast, which is what I really came for. It was am extremely short amount of time to eat and then be rushed back to the bus. I got really frustrated at one point because the girl kept passing our table for the crabs and by the time she'd get to us they were either gone or only pieces left. I don't know that I would do this again. I'd just find somewhere I can sit and eat crabs without the rush. read more

Amazing!! Went on part of my cruise excursion for "all you can eat crabs." They have their process streamlined so when you sit down they have a small basic citrus dressed salad waiting. Then it's multiple rounds of Dungeness crab which was buttery, sweet, and meaty. Seriously so good. Their red ale they offered pair nicely with it. The Positives: the view is pretty and the crab and cheesecake were good. The Not Great: The stench of the restaurant hits you hard when walking in. It smelled rancid of decaying crab meat and cleaning fluid in a lackluster attempt to cover it. Unfortunately, that is the first impression, so somewhat difficult to rev up an appetite with that smell surrounding you and settling into your clothes and hair. The salad that starts the meal is also incredibly lackluster and I wonder if it would have been better without it. The staff were less than friendly and they were constantly hurrying us along and taking plates while we were still mid-bite which should not be the experience. It's also really far out from the ship so took most of our time. I would do more in town instead and skip this. read more

GOOD: the quality and taste of the crab and cheesecake (thus 2 stars) BAD: The 2 female staffs hosting our (8am-9am) lunch tour today (July 26, 2024) from Norwegian Bliss kept on rushing us. It really takes out the mood from savoring and enjoying your meal. They kept telling us that they need to clean our table and that the bus will leave us (yet all the other tables have not even been cleaned yet and the toilet is filled up with lines). Even if we leave our table, everyone on the bus is still lining up at the toilet and they still do not need to clean up our table because there are tons of other tables to clean. In the end we left our plates unfinished, in a bad mood and killed the remaining time (that they kept on saying is up) waiting at the toilet and for the bus. There was about 20 mins of wasted time that we could have used in finishing up the crabs left on our plate. I hope the management and the 2 staffs reads this: RUSHING THE MEAL KILLS THE MOOD AND TAKES OUT THE JOY OF SAVORING THE TASTE. read more

This is a must-do when visiting Ketchikan. It's easy to book on their website. If you're coming in on a cruise, no worries, they pick you up at the dock and return you. Even if their website doesn't show availability, email or call for reservations. We booked the day before we arrived in Ketchikan. It's truly all you can eat Dungeness crabs and they are caught within 60 miles of the lodge. And don't be shy about asking for more. We almost didn't book it because our cruise was only in port from 9am-1pm and didn't think we'd want to eat crabs in the morning. But guess what, it didn't matter. If given the chance, we'd eat them for breakfast! On the 20 minute ride to the lodge, the driver talked about the local area and places of interest. Feel free to pig out without being judged! This place is crab heaven. I had high expectations but even those were exceeded. Upon arrival be prepared to make your way down the long stairs to your meal. Don't worry, it's just a little exercise to make a little more room in your belly for what's to come. If not, enjoy your tasty appetizer. The staff will be around to take your drink order. We were granted one free adult beverage with our meal and all others cost $6. They had non alcoholic drinks for free. Loved the flavored tea! No sugar needed. Now.. the main event. UNLIMITED Dungeness Crab goodness!!!! So much crab meat.. so much butter, so much breaking, cracking, ripping, chewing.. rinse and repeat OVER and OVER. Your plate is never left empty. The staff are constantly walking around to fill you up again. The crab comes out piping hot and ready for consumption. Please eat until your heart desires no more.. but leave a little room at the end. The best freaking cheesecake you'll ever have awaits you for dessert. The blueberries and blueberry sauce were like no other I've ever tasted. You will be so glad that you wore those stretchy pants! They had to eat the rest of the food fast, use the restroom and /or hit the gift store in 5 minutes. Ridiculous. We left hungry. I timed how long they have us to eat the crab. Wasted 10 minutes for a salad which we didn't eat at all. Already placed on the table for us. Also, they give you a 1 napkin. No more. Total of 3 stars out of 5. We were there right after Covid and had a better experience. Expect about 2-3 items of crab. Any more and you are lucky. It really appeared if you sat closer to the kitchen area you had more crab and closer to the door you were out of luck. Can't post photos because I was unable to take any due to just trying to get crab to us and no napkins. They had an odd contest who could stack the highest shells. This of course was part of a shore excursion but I have to single out the Lodge and the how AWESOME the Crab Feast was!!! All three of the young ladies who served us deserve a pat on the back!!! They were very entertaining and quick with refiling your plates with more crab then we could handle. Now lets talk about the food... CRAB!!! Glorious Dungeness crab!!! WOW... This was the Best tasting Crab I have ever had... so fresh and juicy, no need for melted butter, and ALL YOU CAN EAT!!! I couldn't keep up!!! it was so good!!! I am so behind on my reviews for which I apologize. This lodge is awesome. While on a cruise throughout Alaska. I chose the lodge as one of my excursions. Absolutely gorgeous view of the George Inlet Bay. We arrived by float plane (another amazing excursion) to dine at the crab feast dinner at the lodge. Delicious!! I will definitely go back to the lodge for the crab feast if given the opportunity. Service/staff team stands second to none. They were friendly, efficient and very accommodating to everyone's needs. The lodge was kept very clean . It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I wanted to stay longer but since the excursions are timed, our ride back to the dock took precedence.
